Chapter 26 – Trust (2)

A black car stopped on the side of the road, and the glass window next to the driver’s seat slowly lowered. It was Chu Yi’s car.

“Hi!” Shen Muan said hello with a smile, “Look at my arms.” he signaled Chu Yi to look down.

When Chu Yi drove over, he saw Shen Muan holding something, he didn’t expect that he was holding a black and white cat.

“Is it sleeping?” Chu Yi asked.

No, it was scared by you.

Although Shen Muan wanted to answer that way, he just smiled for fear of hurting Chu Yi’s feelings.

“Wait a minute, I just promised to buy two canned kitty food for it.” Shen Muan smiled and said, he had to send this white glove to another place, far away from Chu Yi’s damage range.

“I’ll go with you.” Chu Yi wanted to get out of the car but was immediately stopped by Shen Muan.

“It’s okay, I’ll be quick.” After Shen Muan said this, holding white gloves, he went to the nearby pet shop that he saw when he came over.

Chu Yi watched Shen Muan leave, remembering his physique and the state of the cat just now, he understood what was going on. He found a place where he could park and waited for Shen Muan.

Although it was Saturday, Chu Yi was still wearing a black suit and looked extraordinarily handsome. It’s not that no one next to him wanted to strike up a conversation, but because Chu Yi’s aura was too strong, no one dared to come onto him.

After a while, Shen Muan returned with two bottles of water, and white glove was no longer visible. Shen Muan gave Chu Yi a bottle: “I troubled you today.”

“It’s okay.” Chu Yi smiled, “Let’s go.”

“Okay.” Shen Muan smiled.

At this time, the Public Security Bureau was in a state of low pressure. Although their captain looked the same as usual, everyone knew that today they had to be careful not to bother him.

Shen Fangqi dealt with the work in a daze, the messages he sent were like stones sinking into the sea, Shen Muan didn’t respond at all.

Shen Fangqi knew what was going on right away, he called the home phone to confirm it, great, he ran away again.

He watched Shen Muan grow up, he has been taking care of him ever since their parents died. Every time he discovered a little secret of Shen Muan that he didn’t want him to know, Shen Muan’s first reaction was to sneak away.

Shen Fangqi thought that this problem had been corrected, but he didn’t expect that even if his brother has grown to be an adult, it would still be the same as when he was a child.

Shen Fangqi knew all of Shen Muan’s friends, so he couldn’t go to a friend’s house. He didn’t go to a hotel either. Among the people he met recently, Chu Yi, who came to his house last time, and Fang Xu, who entered the station with him, were the only ones he knew best.

Shen Fangqi quickly analyzed Shen Muan’s whereabouts in his mind, and finally determined it.

Fang Xu registered his home address at the police station last time, so Shen Muan’s only choice was Chu Yi.

When Shen Fangqi thought of the materials he had seen, he couldn’t tell the feeling in his heart.

His cherished relative experienced so many things and he had no idea about it.

Shen Fangqi wanted to be a police officer not only because of his childhood dreams but also because he wanted to be strong and able to protect his younger brother.

Their parents died early. At that time, Shen Muan was only eight years old, and he was only twelve years old.

The two moved between relatives. In a family, they lived for a few months and another for half a year. No one wanted to adopt two cumbersome children, and the compensation for the death of their parents was already divided up cleanly.

Their relatives obviously took the money, but they still treated them very badly. It was like having to be grateful when they only gave them two bites of food.

So after becoming an adult, Shen Fangqi immediately contacted a lawyer to sue those relatives who shared his parents’ compensation.

Although the money was not a lot, as long as they were thrifty, it would be enough for the brothers to go to school and live.

Shen Fangqi tried to support his younger brother by himself. He thought he had done a good job. But reality slapped him severely.

It’s not that Shen Fangqi has not been threatened or intimidated, but he doesn’t care at all. The reason why he asked Shen Muan to go to school in another province was that he was afraid to implicate his younger brother.

But in the end, he didn’t even know, his younger brother was implicated.

Shen Fangqi thought a lot, then he called Shen Muan. It rang for a while before Shen Muan answered the call.

“Go home, I want to have a good talk with you.” Shen Fangqi said.

Shen Fangqi’s tone was very flat as if nothing happened.

After a while, Shen Muan on the other end of the phone said, “Okay.”

Chu Yi had been paying attention to Shen Muan’s side, and he had already noticed something wrong with Shen Muan.

“It is better to face some things head-on than to avoid them.” Chu Yi said. Although Shen Muan has been smiling today, his smile has never reached his eyes.

“I know, but I…” Shen Muan leaned on the seat, “I’m scared.”

“I’m afraid that a policeman who has always wanted to help others will be affected because of me.” Shen Muan’s voice was low. “I am afraid that I will ruin the efforts he has made for so many years.”

What I’m even more afraid of is that once he has worries, he could have hesitations when solving cases and arresting suspects, which could harm him.

Shen Muan didn’t say the last sentence. He clasped his hands tightly together.

He believed in his brother, but he was still afraid.

As long as the slightest hesitation was present in an action, it is very likely to bring unpredictable consequences.

What about being angry? He was never afraid of Shen Fangqi being angry.

What Shen Muan was afraid of was that his brother would leave him like their parents. This is something he will never accept.

Chu Yi parked the car on the side of the road. He released the safety belt and hugged Shen Muan.

This surprised Shen Muan. He looked at the man in front of him and felt his temperature.

“It’s okay, you don’t need to be afraid.”

“You just have to trust each other.”

Upon hearing Chu Yi’s words, a tear fell from the corner of Shen Muan’s eyes and fell on Chu Yi’s shoulder.

“Thank you.”
