Chapter 3: Cockblocked

"What's going on?!" A handsome man named Tanaka yelled out to no one in particular. He's one of the leading programmers out of many that are checking the system for any glitches or problems in the game.

"Sir, we, we don't know. The game was working just fine, but somehow it started to delete itself." A fat nerd informed him still typing in codes to stop, if not slow it down.

"We need to pull the plug. I can't have all of my work gone. We spent more than four years and so much money on this game."

"But sir, there are still people in there." A female programmer informed him.

"Just force log out and save as much data as you can before it's all gone. If not, then it'll be on all of your heads." Tanaka threatened them before he left to inform the director. 

"Bastard." A random computer programmer said after he left. 

"Here here." A few agreed, and they became quiet, focusing on the situation.

At that moment, the entire area around the world began to give out 

warning signals telling players to log out.

"A power outage? Nah, even if that happened, there's a backup power generator. Did something happen to the game servers?" A player asked himself. He logged out immediately, feeling something terrible will happen to him if he didn't. 

Many players started logging out following that guy's example. Some cursed the company for cockblocking them when they were about to have sex, and others ignored the signs, taking off their clothes and touching their summoned waifu/husbando.

For the people who ignored the warnings, they froze in place, and were forcefully logged out. The system ran a diagnostic scan to see if anyone is left.

1%...4%...38%...57%...63%...99%...error...

{Found one. Location, player mansion}

It looked up the player's ID. {MainManJohny} [Log.out.error...error..]

For some reason, it couldn't force the user to log out, nor could it send any alerts to the user. It sent a message to the main computer for input.

As it waited, it recorded the vitals, the brain activity, and the video of the user, {MainManJohny}.

I stared at her all nervous and I rubbed my arm. It's like meeting my first crush in middle school all over again.

Celestine noticed my actions as she let out a light giggle, "Teehee, you shouldn't be so nervous, master. I would never harm you."

"I-I know that," I spoke nervously, "It's just, well, I'm so excited to finally meet you. I hope you'll take care of me." I took a few steps towards her and she did the same, which caused me to look how her chest moved with each step.

Celestine stopped in front of me with a sweet smile on her face as she put her hand over her heart, "I, Celestine Lucullus, will be at your service, master. May you be protected by my light on our journey together to defeat the demon king."

That did it, I moved up a little, grabbing her waist, pushing her up against me, making her gasp in shock. We stared into each other's eyes as I held her and she wrapped her arms around me. We started to lean towards each other, closing our eyes as we were inches away. 

I could feel my heart beating so fast that my vision started to sway as our lips neared each other. Leaning in, we closed our eyes in tandem before I heard Celestine part her mouth and we connected in a kiss. The last thing I felt was her soft warm kiss and I knew no more.

Celestine POV:

"Hmm? Master?" Celestine opened her eyes in shock when she only felt a light peck, but that's not what shocked her. What shocked was that her arms went right through her master.

"Master!!" She cried, falling to her knees crying as he broke into little pieces. Then she froze and everything went dark.

[Monitoring Room]

Tanaka arrived back sweating in fear from the meeting with CEO of the company. He tightened his tie, adjusting his face in an stern look as he stepped through the door.

"Well!?!! What's the situation? Did you fix it or not!?!" He yelled out, praying they did. He did not want to know what would happen if they didn't. 

"Y-yes s-sir, we did, but there was some unespected complications." One nervous employee said. It was silent for a few seconds as they waited to be yelled at again.

"Well, what's the problem? Did we lose all of out data?" Tanaka probed.

"N-no, no sir. We saved 78% of our important data. The rest is just player data and some anime characters."

"Good, good. That's good." He nodded with a smile, feeling relieved. 

"But sir, there was one complication that's really bad." A female employee spoke up, ruining his mood. She continued as he glared at her, "It's one of the players, sir. He didn't log out nor could the AI log him out forcefully before we shut down the game. It also recorded his vitals and his last moments. He's brain dead, sir."

"So? Just send some money to his family as compensation and force them to sign NDA's. After that, delete all data regarding that player from our servers." Tanaka said, waving his hand like it wasn't a problem.

"B-But, but sir, a human being died..." The same woman tried to argued, but she flinched in shock at Tanaka's rage.

*Bang*

"SHUT YOUR TRAP IF YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOOD FOR YOU!!!" He yelled at her. Everyone flinched and kept their heads down while shaking in fear.

"Now, if you excuse me, I have a press conference to get to." He said taking a deep breath before he left the room. He had to look presentable after all.

"Bastard..." Someone muttered after a minute of typing codes on the screen as a few other employees muttered other curse words.
