The girl slowly opened her eyes. The vision was slightly blurry and her eyelids were hurting. She felt as if she had been hit by a track. The pain that was traveling through her whole body would probably make a normal human lose his mind, but Saori was half unconscious right now and she was already used to suffering by this point.
She tried to stand up, but she couldn't move more than a finger, and even that was painful. She looked around and saw a spider the size of her thumb walking on a rusty metal surface. It was so quiet that her ears were perceiving the sound made by the small insect's steps.
Numerous grates were circling her body.
Saori soon realized that she had been captured, but there was nothing she could do in such a weakened state. Accepting the idea, she looked around more to try and get a better grasp of the situation.
Ants were traveling back and forth between a piece of bread and their mound situated close to her cage. A bit further away, multiple stones were positioned in a circle around a bunch of short tree branches as if someone was getting ready to start a fire. The position of the sun and its pale light gave the girl the impression that it was soon going to get dark.
Soari had no idea how long she'd been unconscious, but she knew that her body needed to rest more. She closed her eyes and fell asleep in a matter of seconds.
A few hours later, the darkness enveloped the sky.
--Thud-thud-thud.-- A heavy knock could be heard into the grates of the cage.
The girl heard something, but she was so sleepy that she didn't want to bother with the sound.
--Thud-thud-thud.--
Suddenly remembering the situation she was in, she immediately stood up on one knee with her fists raised in front of her. Her hair was messed up, she had dirt all over the body and her breathing was out of control. This was not the right moment to take a nap because her life might be in grave danger.
"Well, well, well! Looks like the sleeping beauty has finally woken up. Too bad it was not with a kiss from a charming prince like in the fairy tales. That's ok, though, we can't have them all, right?" Ashura was walking slowly around the cage and mocking the girl.
Saori didn't seem to get angry. Instead, she looked closely at the bars holding her captive, analyzing them.
"Impressive, honestly. I expected you to jump on me like a mindless beast, trying to break the cage. Instead, you're checking to see if the cage can be broken. Apparently, I haven't given you enough credit."
The girl was following the annoying man with her eyes, but she didn't want to let her anger get the better of her, so she said nothing. She relaxed her arms and touched the bars.
"This cage is strengthened by the magic of the strongest witch, Emer. There is no way a mindless beast like you can break it, so don't bother. Ok, PUSSYcat?" he accentuated the first part of the last word he said, trying to get a funny reaction from the girl, but still nothing.
"ABDUCTOR! ABUSER! PEDOPHILE! RAPIST! CRIMINAL! PARASITE!" the girl was simply shouting insults at him.
"Ha, ha! That's funny. Let's see. Abductor? Not really. Abuser and pedophile? Not in the slightest. Rapist? Yes, sometimes. It's fun. Criminal and parasite? Absolutely! I'm killing people for a living after all. You could say I'm a parasite in the world, but not as much as the witches are."
"SCUM-FACE THEN!"
"Ooooo?!" Ashura squatted in the blink of an eye in front of the cage with an angry smile. His sparkless white eyes were betraying the fact that he was blind, but his moves were so accurate, and precise that one would say he could see everything.
"I wouldn't say that if I was in your position, girly. This face is something I'm really proud of and it gets me a lot of girls!"
Saori tried to use that opportunity to grab the man by his collar and smash his precious face against the cage, but it didn't work out. The man reacted quickly and caught her arm by the wrist and the elbow, then twisted it in a way that forced the girl to turn around. He smashed her against the cage with her back as he pulled her right forearm out through the bars. Ashura used his other hand to grab her hair and smash the back of her head into the bars.
"Aaaaaaa!" the girl was moaning in pain as Ashura repeatedly smashed her head three times.
"You get it now?"
The girl tried to free herself, but she couldn't. He was too strong.
Ashura eventually let go, stood up, and started to leisurely walk around. Scared not to get hit again, and more aware of the danger coming from the guy outside the cage, the girl turned around and moved back a bit to put distance between them. Her anger could now be read on her face, which brought joy to the man.
"See? This is more like the reaction I was hoping for."

"Why are you doing this? Emer sent you?"
"Yes, it's my first time accepting a job without actual payment, but I want to stay alive. I don't stand a chance against her, and I probably never will. One needs to realize when he is outpowered and when it is time to give up. Just now, I'm most likely stronger than you, but I won't be arrogant as to say I'm much stronger. I don't really know you, after all."
The blonde-haired guy with tattoos walked away from her and went to the wood sticks to start the fire. He looked strong, he was walking slowly and confidently, he was not scared in the slightest, his strength was unreal and his technique was a masterclass. The big scar on his chest was also telling a story all by itself. She could tell that he was strong only after that little fight they had when Ashura controlled her as if she was a puppet. It reminded her of the old times when she was young and had no chance when fighting against her dad.
"Sleep for now. I'll torment you later because I want other people to suffer like I did when I was younger. Brings me satisfaction. For that, you need to rest. I don't want you dying on me immediately. That's no fun!" his words were cold and his face expressionless.
Once the fire started, Ashura left the place, leaving the girl behind.
"You have some water in a bowl beside you. Drink it smartly as you won't get more," he said as he disappeared behind the trees.
Soari watched the man leave and then started looking around. She was extremely hungry and there was no food, so doing nothing would be a mistake. She decided to try to break the cage. The girl bumped into the bars with her shoulder, but the whole thing didn't even move an inch. She tried to break the bars with her hands, but with no result. Even trying to cut them with her claws didn't do anything. She was trapped.
She thought about Alma's power, but most likely her body would not be able to survive in its current state. That was her last option of getting out, but it meant suicide. There was nothing she could do but wait, hungry, thirsty, and injured.
The girl tried to break the cage a few more times, but eventually gave up and went back to sleep. As a countryside girl that had been raised at a farmhouse, the crickets' song was like a lullaby to her, calming her down even in a situation like this.
"Listen, dear! One day, a man will come for you, maybe he will even try to kill you. He is someone of great strength that has been hunting down tons of people, ranging from diplomats, kings, and queens, all the way down to mercenaries, talented fighters, prodigies, and all kinds of creatures. Evil doesn't always have the form of a monster, nor does it always have eyes, but it doesn't mean that it's not real or it cannot see you. If you meet a man named Ashura, run! Run as if the devil itself is chasing you!" Those were the words of Saori's dad that came to her while she was asleep. She somehow dreamed about her memories.

Another two days had passed with the girl unable to break out and without any significant occurrences. Saori was surviving by eating insect-meat, like spiders and crickets. It was not something new to her as she'd been trained to survive in many types of situations including this one. Their nutritional benefits were important to her physical and mental health.
Days were passing by and she couldn't wait any longer if she wanted to meet Anta. She had to break free, but she didn't know how.
Her body was recovering and she was feeling better day by day. Apparently, even being trapped in a cage with no real food couldn't stop her body from healing itself at an abnormal speed.
--BOOM!-- On the fifth night, Saori was woken up by a sudden loud noise that hurt her eardrums and made her heart beat fast.
Right on the cage, above her, was Ashura who was staring at her with his mentally sick smile. He was just standing on his four limbs, doing nothing, but looking down and smiling. Paired up with the sudden noise, the night, and the dream that she had recently had, this made for a very unpleasant wake-up.
"Mental shithead, you should be in a treatment facility!" the girl kicked the top of the cage as a sign of protest against his attitude towards her.
Unbothered, the man lifted his legs up and was now standing in his hands. After three push-ups, he jumped off in "style", then leaned onto the cage.
"You have a visitor, girly. Not the nicest one out there, but hey, at least it's not a second me."
After sighing, he unlocked the door from the cage and walked away from it. The skull hanging at Ashura's chest started to shine, forcing the cursed monster to come out from the dark.
"I suggest you don't try to run. It won't end up the way you imagine. Let's see the beast girl that caught Emer's eye dealing with this anomaly."
*Snap, rip, break.*
*Snap, rip, break.*
*Snap, rip, break.*
A voice that scraped the girl's ears like nails on a board came from the deep dark forest. The horrifying words were accompanied by the respective sounds accordingly as if someone was getting tortured and ripped apart from the bones. Something evil, grotesque and unseen before was coming.
