“Congratulations, stranger!

You have been carefully selected for the challenge. The honor is all yours and you should be extremely grateful.

Upon careful consideration we, the Dragnya Family, have decided to offer you a chance to duel the witch. You were found worthy of her majesty’s time.

You will do as specified below:

You must pray every day at midnight for a week to her majesty, Dragnya. Make sure to thank her for everything you have in life and for being selected.

You will eat only meat until the magic day comes.

You will get your hands on the special shield belonging to Masaru of Shields of Honor.

You will kill Ralan, he is a talented boy. Prove your strength and bring his head with you.

We shall meet if all the conditions are met within one week of reading this letter.

Why so considerate? You are a lonely child with no parents. You had been abandoned by your father because of his greedy ambition of stopping the witches, leaving you and your mother alone with a group of thieves. He survived, but those men took really good care of your mother. Ha, ha, ha! That’s a clown if I’ve ever seen one.

Failure to follow instructions will lead to severe consequences!”

A wave of memories suddenly drowned Saori.

Little Saori was crying. She was wearing a white coat tightened on the hips with a black belt and snow-white linen medieval underpants. The several blood stains on her clothing betrayed the fact that something terrible was happening. Her naked feet were bruised and dirty, while her bottom lip was split and swollen.

This tragedy occurred when the girl was only nine years old.

“Saori, Saori, Saori, hey… Look at me.” Salan gently tapped the girl’s cheeks with his palms, trying to get her attention, “Get it together, pumpkin! This is crucial. I need you to take care of yourself and your mother. Can you do that for me?”

She slowly looked up at her father with her wet sparkling eyes, shaking in fear. He was the warrior and hero she loved and admired the most, a man who was shining among the most known legends.

Unable to answer due to her fear, she nodded in agreement.

“That’s my little warrior.” Salan smiled and kissed her on the forehead.

The huge squeaky doors closed with a bang under the combined power of six men. Sagurou was one of them.

Darkness had claimed the room. Only a few cracks and holes gave way to a couple of rays from the sun to sneak in just enough for the fugitives to see what they were doing.

“We don’t have time for this, Salan! We need to go!” an angry man shouted. After he’d been ignored, he raised his tone even more, “Salan, wake up, bastard. We’ll all die!”

Saori’s father stood up despite his girl trying to keep him down a bit more by pulling his sleeve. He was well aware of the gravity of the situation.

“Sagurou, you go with them. I’ll stay behind to buy enough time for you to escape through the tunnel.”

“Are you out of your mind? We have always fought together. I want to be by your side in these final moments.”

“Final? That’s a good joke, brother. I won’t die.” Salan tapped his shoulder twice, looked him in the eyes, then turned around and left for the gates, “Take care of my ladies. We can’t trust these thieves that we saved.”

Everything about him radiated confidence and courage.

“May the gods be with you.” Sagurou had only words of admiration for his long-time partner.

“Dear, take care… and make sure to come back one day,” Saya said as she stretched a hand toward him. She wanted to touch her dear husband one more time before he went outside to face the four witches, but it was too late.

The shelter situated in the middle of the desert began to shake uncontrollably.

“There is no time. I’ll be back, Saya. Worry about yourself and our daughter.” He winked at her and left.

The legendary warrior didn’t even need to open the doors as their form was already starting to change, bent by unnatural forces. The hinges broke and the doors had both been smashed to the side walls, then fell to the ground with a huge thud.

Four silhouettes wearing white coats that fully covered their bodies came into view not far from the room he was in a second ago.

In the front was the smallest and the youngest one, Emer, soon to be the queen of witches. She was only thirteen years old and she opened the huge doors single-handedly from afar, without even needing to cast a spell or use a wand. Emer, a true monster.

“Where did you hide the beast? We can feel her aura.” She said.

“There is only one answer this question deserves.” The legendary man answered and unsheathed both his swords at the same time.

“Such an incompetent fool,” Dragnya said, disgusted by the man’s courage. Everything that dared to defy the witches was better dead in her opinion.

“Sister, squeeze this man to death,” Emer ordered her sister.

“Don’t order me, kid.”

“Quiet, Dragnya, just do what you were told.” A witch with outstanding white skin and purple hair replied.

Without further ado, the coat fell off the muscular witch that disappeared the following second. The sand of the desert lifted three meters in the air behind her.

Meanwhile, the group inside the room already entered the tunnel and was making its way to safety.

“Hurry up, woman! We’ll get caught otherwise.” One of the thieves saved due to Salan’s kind soul, pushed Saya from behind, forcing her to advance faster through the sinister tunnel.

The ground around them shook violently, making gravel fall and scatter on the floor. Several disturbingly loud noises as if bombs were falling on the surface could be heard as a result of the intense battle going on outside.

Sagurou could imagine how difficult the fight was just by listening to its pace and intensity. It didn’t matter how many times he fought alongside Salan, the swordsman was always impressed by his partner’s ability to deal with new foes.

The ground shook again after a heavy bang was heard in close proximity.

“AAA!” Scared, Saya screamed. She hugged her daughter and covered her head with one hand.

Another thief, much skinnier than the other one, spit on the side wall annoyed by her fear, then kicked the woman in the butt, sending both girls on the ground.

“You’re scared of some little gravel?” The young thief smirked at her.

From in between the large boobs of her mother, Soari growled at him menacingly.

“Are you growling at me, kid?! Huuuuh? Sh—” He meant to insult her but he was already dead. His head slid off easily on the perfectly straight cut made by Sagurou.

Not the forgiving type, the swordsman would take down anyone foolish enough to harm someone in his presence.

“Lay as much as a finger on them and you’ll end up like your friend.”

Intimidated, the remaining four men decided to be quiet, thus, they avoided creating further problems in the tunnel.

It had been an hour since they left Salan behind before the group finally reached the end of it.

The pale light of the lamp lit up some outdated stairs that seemed to lead toward the exit. The sturdy ladder was at least ten meters long.

Having second thoughts about this, the future guild master chose to let Saya, Saori, and the thieves climb it first.

“I’m sorry.” Once everyone but him was out, Sagurou pulled the ladder down and the hatch closed. He could not leave his friend behind. The sadness he felt for betraying his friend’s trust and leaving the girls on their own was awful, but leaving Salan to die in a world that needed him was even worse.

“Please take care, you two.” The man said as he made his way back through the tunnel.

There was a chance he would regret the decision taken. But Saori was already a decently strong fighter. She could probably knock the thieves out by herself if things took a turn for the worse. The only problem was that she was too scared to fight at that moment.

The four thieves were now alone with Saya and Saori in a huge imperial medieval-style room, decorated in red and gold.

Behind the throne with two chests positioned on each side, was a huge painting with the king of Alavasta Kingdom, also referred to as The Rich Kingdom of the Desert.

Apparently, the tunnel had been created to offer the king an escape route in dire situations.

Through a small opening, one could see the chests were filled with coins and jewelry.

“Wohoooooo! Aren’t we rich, boss?” one of the men asked excitedly, jumping around.

“Hee, hee. We escaped, we came across a gold mine, and we are all alone with Salan’s wife. Not too shabby!” another thief said.

The man in charge was clearly stronger and more experienced in combat than the rest, but not enough to deal with the likes of Sagurou, so he stayed quiet until now. A talented archer that wouldn’t go anywhere without his bow and arrows.

After coming from outside the building, the boss lazily sat on the throne.

“It looks like most of the kingdom is destroyed and abandoned. It’s very quiet out there. The witches must have been here already, which means they will not come back too soon. Salan and Sagurou will probably get killed if they’re not dead already. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! Lads, it looks like we’ve finally been given what we deserve: A kingdom, gold, peace, and a fine woman.”

“You’re right, fellow brothers in crime.” A man stood up from the floor and pulled his pants down, completely revealing his large, erect member in front of everyone, including Saori and her mother.

“Why even bother being good now? There is no law anymore and the world is dying. I say we have some fun and enjoy life to the fullest for as long as we still can.” He took his shirt off to be completely naked and shook his hips left and right for Saya to see his crotch dancing around.

“Stop this already.” The woman demanded as she covered her daughter’s eyes with her palm, “Do me however you want, screw me if that’s what you’re after, but leave my child alone.”

“As you wish, your beauty.”

Another thief took the young girl to a different room as the boss ordered, A kid shouldn’t see this. Tie her up in a different room.”

Without further ado, the already naked man grabbed Saya by her blonde shining hair, slammed her with the back against the wall, slapped her across the face, and forcefully shoved his dick down her throat.

“Mom! P-P-Please… l-leave her alone…”

“Sorry, young lady. Nothing personal. Just following orders.”

Saori wanted to fight back, but for some reason she was too afraid. She’d been traumatized when she had seen the witches massacring masses of people two weeks ago. They had been on the run ever since, living in constant fear. Why was she the one targeted by those inhumanly strong beings?

“Looks like this is going to be easy.” The man whispered to himself after he saw the girl was not resisting. He tied her up and lit his cigar.

The thief turned around and went to the window to look outside at the destroyed kingdom.

“These buildings used to be true works of art.”

*KILL! KILL! KILL!* A voice coming from the inside was pushing Saori to punish the criminals but she was too afraid to act. Instead, she was praying her dad would rescue them.

Three hours passed, darkness settled outside, and the criminals were still at it. They were taking turns in watching the scared girl.

(***)

Saya, almost unconscious and fully naked, was now being pounded head down, with her legs raised and lifted over in such a way that her ankles were on either side of her head. The criminal fucking her spit on her face while squatting and dipping his penis inside her wet crotch.

“Can’t see that you’re swimming in sweat? Give her a break already.”

Completely ignoring his partner’s advice, the man bent over Saya, grabbed her by the neck, and increased the speed of his thrusts even more.

(***)

The party’s boss was eating his sandwich quietly, enjoying the show, then he noticed blood spreading on the floor from underneath the door leading to the room Soari was held captive in.

“HEEEEEEEY!” He stood up and smashed the door open, “No one said you can kill the girl!”

There was mess and blood everywhere inside as if a battle had been going on for a while now. Several objects had been destroyed too.

The dead body of his pal, fully covered in blood, was leaning against the royal bed. It had two holes in it. One at the neck that looked like it was bitten off by a beast, and another one much bigger in his chest from where his heart had been pulled out.

“That’s… even worse than what we do…”

As he felt a cold breeze, he turned his head to check the window. It was wide open. The girl was already gone… or someone inhumanly cruel stole her. He struggled to understand what actually happened, so he decided to check on his other comrades.

“AAAAA! How the hell did you untie yourself, punk?”

The sound of a window shattering and of a chair crashing into someone reached the archer’s ears.

“Where? Where? Where did she go? WHERE IS SHE?”

Screams of pain and fear could be heard one after another coming from the room next door.

“HEEELP!”

Scared of the unknown, the man shut the door with his foot and anchored an arrow on his bow.

“Shit, shit, shit. What is going on here?”

Twenty seconds later the fight stopped just as suddenly as it started.

“Crap. Again this creepy silence. I’m in shit up to my neck.” The man thought.

After catching his breath, he peeked inside the other room through a peephole.

That’s the moment he felt an excruciating pain traveling through his right eye as the glass from the peephole broke and a sharp nail split his eyeball in two.

“AAAAAAA!” He covered his eye with his right hand and took several steps back. Unaware of what he was doing due to the overwhelming pain, he stumbled over the dead body of his pal and fell onto the bed.

The creaking sound of the door slowly opening made him anchor an arrow on his bow again, letting the blood spill out through his right eye. There was a small problem, though. He couldn’t see with his left eye either.

“Fuck! The lights are out? When did that happen?!”

Exasperated, the man randomly shot an arrow hoping for a lucky shot, but it got stopped at only an arm’s length away from him. A second later it fell on the bed.

He then kicked the space where the previously shot arrow stopped, absurdly assuming the attacker was strong enough to catch it with their bare hands, but didn’t feel anything. Instead, something rolled on the bed and then onto the floor.

The archer realized what it was only after he felt the pain. His foot had been cut at the ankle and it was now laying on the ground in blood.

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!”

“Boo!” The sudden cute voice of a little girl almost gave him a heart attack.

Needless to say, the man died a miserable death. With an arrow deeply stuck through his nose and a terrified expression on his face as if he’d seen pure hell, what was left of the soulless body was laying in the red painted royal bed.

Two straight lines of tears formed on Saori’s cheeks as she remembered the tragic past and the death of her mother. Tightly squeezing the letter in her hand, an angry smile interrupted the flow of her human emotional fluids.

The desire to punish those who inflict pain and cause suffering across the world lit up inside. Her inner flame of revenge burned brightly. Killing the witches meant justice for her mother right now, and in some way she was right, if it wasn’t for their attack, her mother could still be alive now.

The hate she felt for witches was enforced by the recent memories even more.

“I’m on my way, Dragnya! Be aware that we are coming. Your death will not be painless, nor will it be quick.”
