Running through the dense forest during a merciless blizzard, all the girl could see was the snow and the trees dressed in white coats.

With the mask attached to her shoulder, Saori made sure no one was able to feel her presence; thus, it was unlikely Dragnya would find her first.

As explained by Anta, there were two ways of reaching the witch. One of them was by following the instructions in the letter perfectly, and the other way was by finding the cave where her real body was hiding. This is what the key was for. The closer she got to the witch, the brighter the amulet would shine.

There was one issue. According to the rumors, her real body could not be destroyed, therefore, she needed to find a way inside the witch’s body and into her fortress.

Two days had passed and Saori was still out there looking for the cave. Her inner beast had not answered her calls yet and the cold was slowly getting through to her. It hadn’t stopped snowing for a second since it started and she didn’t know whether or not her lifespan would be reduced due to spending so much time outdoors.

“Alma, are you giving up?”

As the beast sat on a branch waiting for a sign, she noticed her lips getting chapped and her face drying out.

After shaking the snow off her boots, she looked at her palm and clenched her fist.

“I guess I don’t have time to look for the cave anymore. I need to meet Dragnya at the destination specified on the back of the letter. There are only two hours left till midnight.”

She looked at the ground and touched her forehead, trying to remember where exactly the place was. Barely anything came to her mind.

“Why? Is it because of the prayers? The curse? How can I forget something so important?”

*Saori!*

Finally, the voice she’d been waiting for, answered.

“Where have you been, Alma?” the girl asked, excited to hear the inner beast’s voice.

*Keep relying on me and death will eventually catch up to you. I have completely erased the consequences of complying with the letter’s requirements.*

“Thanks, I will. We are one and the same. I die, you die!”

Ignoring her childish response, the beast spoke again:

*It’s not the best moment for this, but you need to be aware that something has been following you since way before you began recovering your memories. That is why you had been found unconscious in the mountains. You’ve been on the run for longer than you can remember. This world wants you dead.*

“What a creep!” Saori answered, not taking the warning seriously.

*This frivolity of yours will lead to your undoing one day.*

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla! Okay, okay. I don’t want to hear this nonsense anymore.” She said while covering her ears.

“We have a witch to slaughter right now and there’s no time. If you understand, take me to her already.”

*What a special breed you are, Saori. Follow my shadow. I know where Dragnya is hiding.* Alma answered as an inky mantle covered the ground.

“Yahoooo! Give me your power too!”

*Unsheathe your blade. We’re making a split in space and time to take her by surprise.*

Happy and filled with hope again, the girl looked up, arched her back, stretched her hands out to the sides, and closed her eyes. She stood like that in the blizzard for several seconds, savoring the moment and listening to her own excited heartbeats.

“Ahiuuu! Push my body to the limit! Have no mercy on me, Alma. Unleash yourself!”

Without a worry in the world, Saori was standing there, fully trusting the beast and savoring her transformation.

The feeling of her nails growing was giving her pleasure, the new pair of ears coming out from in between the hair strands was making her horny, and the sharp teeth were awakening her appetite for blood. Her right pupil spun in place, completely changing its color from emerald to crimson.

However, the girl felt something inexplicably harmful inside. She clenched her teeth and fists trying to resist the moment. Her face twisted because of the excruciating pain.

“Amazing! It’s like Alma’s power is flowing through my veins, not my blood!”

The snowflakes falling around her suddenly changed their course and headed back up toward the sky. At the same time, the snow on the ground changed its color from white to scarlet and lifted from the ground as if pulled by a magnet, then spun around Saori.

As the pain soon faded away, the girl regained her composure and unsheathed the legendary sword.

“Let’s do this.”

A feeling of unease seized Dragnya during her warm bath. A deafening noise accompanied by an earthquake of massive proportions threatened to destroy the magical fortress.

“WHAT IS GOING ON, DEBITE?!” The witch shouted irritated from her hot bowl.

Ten seconds passed and she received no answer. Luckily, the earthquake stopped. It should’ve been impossible in the first place. This was an alternative dimension, after all.

“Grevick?!”

Still nothing.

Annoyed, Dragnya decided she would teach them a lesson the moment they met. She stepped out of the bowl and put her dress back on, then rushed to the main room to find out what caused the commotion.

She froze in place when she saw the huge doors leading to the throne room half open. From what she knew, apart from herself and Emer, no one was strong enough to get inside. She didn’t remember leaving the doors open either.

As the witch got closer, a certain smell reached her nostrils, followed by a strong aura blown everywhere by a strong gust of wind.

It felt like a warning. “Step inside and you’ll die. Death is waiting beyond these doors.”

A song resembling an apocalyptic orchestra she only heard once before, started playing in her head. It was dark and divine, evil but pure.

Feeling fear for the first time in a long time, Dragnya thought that someone special, a messenger perhaps, or an entity standing on the bridge between good and evil, had been sent to put an end to all the suffering she had been causing during the last couple of years.

“What the heck am I even thinking?”

Looking down, she observed that she stopped advancing without meaning to.

“Why am I faltering now? I’m a fucking witch!”

With the magic wand in hand, Dragnya swallowed dryly and entered the room only to be greeted by an image that she would never be able to unsee.

The bodies of the people who were working for her in the fortress were all lying on the ground, on the huge round table, or against the walls of the room. Blood was quickly spreading on the ground, repainting it crimson. However, the worst part was that a girl, not even half her age, was standing on her personal throne.

That’s where the threatening aura was coming from. Resting her head against her left fist, holding a sword covered in the blood of those slain in her right hand, with a shield next to her, and a bag under her right foot, Saori chose not to wear the aura-suppressing mask, thus, managing to intimidate a witch for the first time in a decade.

Madness was the perfect word to describe the mind-blowing courage to provoke someone of Dragnya’s level. Without feeling as much as a drop of fear, the girl threw the bag in the air, which then fell on the ground and rolled at the woman’s feet.

“I brought the sacrifice, mother Dragnya.” The beast mocked the witch.

As she lifted the bag to look inside it, the woman asked, “How the hell did you manage to get in here and when did you kill them all?! Just what are you???”

What the witch saw inside made her scream: “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!”

“To answer your question, time is relative. There is no one but us left in the fortress. Let’s enjoy the time spent together from the bottom of our hearts.”

As despair was taking over one of the witches that ruined her life, a smirk appeared on Saori’s face as the beast inside snarled, hungry for what might be her last hunt.
