Waking up as Cinderella's Stepsister - Chapter 5.2
I snorted haha and looked at him. Even though he was a knight of the Royal Guards Corps, he did not have the authority to do this to me.
“You are quite rude.”
"Rude?"
He raised one eyebrow and asked. Rather, he looked dumbfounded.
“Or did you even show any chivalry?”
At my question, he closed his mouth and gathered his brows together.
Even though he was frowning, his handsomeness remained the same. Doing this, he looked like a model staring at the camera, frowning upon the photographer's demands.
Calm down, please.
I struggled to find my composure, not being able to grasp the atmosphere. However, I didn't want to keep my mouth shut like a fool.
“I thought it was a polite request. It must have been an order for Sir Drake Wolfrick Persson.”
As I tilted my head slightly and asked, his brow, which had been frowning, twitched and moved.
"Therefore. Are you going to punish me?”
I asked in a polite tone, but in fact, his informal tone as soon as we met subtly heated up.
You punk. If only I succeeded with my first love, I would have a son your age…. Wait, is that a bit too harsh?
Anyway, I didn't like his sudden change of attitude. It was nice to see him again, but that didn't excuse his rudeness.
“If that’s not the case, I want you to just let it go.”
I glanced at my shoulders which he was clutching onto. His hand which had veins bulging out finally let go of my shoulders. I slightly bent my knee and smiled brightly and added.
“I hope to never see you again.”
I turned around, not wanting to talk anymore, when I heard his voice.
“Why?”
A soft yet strong voice grabbed my ankle as I turned around.
“You must have forgotten, but it was you, Anastasia, who rejected my request.”
As he had a more relaxed attitude than before, I quietly raised my eyes and looked at him.
To put it another way, he wasn't wrong. It was clearly my fault that I left without saying anything even though I was asked not to go anywhere.
But he seemed busy, and I couldn't wait indefinitely for him, since I never knew when he would come back.
“Because you didn’t look like you were idle enough to care about me. Anyway, I apologize for breaking my promise.”
As soon as I apologized with a calm face, his voice echoed in my ears.
I gulped down a short breath. Even though it wasn't a big deal, my heart started racing.
“And I was worried.”
While he emphasized his words, his blue eyes were filled with only me.
Normally, I would have snorted saying, "Why would you worry if you don’t even know me?” but the fact that he was worried about me floated around in my head.
I looked into his eyes endlessly, forgetting that I was going to turn around.
"I didn't expect you to go away like that. When I saw the empty spot, should I say I felt a sense of despondency?"
He shook his head with a bitter smile. Then he continued, making eye contact again.
“It was an experience I didn’t want to go through yet again, so I guess I was riled up. Please forgive me for my rudeness.”
He bowed down and apologized politely.
What do you mean you don't want to go through it again? I tilted my head to his expression that made it seem like he had been through this before, but I quickly brushed off my thoughts. It was because his voice, which had been sharp as a knife, had become sweet as if it had been coated with honey.
People's eyes were still focused on Ella and the Prince. So no one paid any attention to us.
As the Prince and Ella and Drake and I stood together not far from each other, it felt as if two plays were being performed simultaneously on one stage.
Of course, the main performance would be considered Cinderella, but that wasn't the case with me.
At this moment, the protagonists here were me and Drake.
More than anything else, the fact that it was none other than me that caused this man to run rampant made my heart, which had been heavily sunk, excited.
In a sense, wouldn’t this be the medieval version of "You're the first girl who stood me up!"
Ah, the popularity of my killer self.
Having struggled to control my beating heart, I closed my eyes slightly and said.
“I am the cause, so I am responsible.”
Then I accepted his apology with a queen-like expression.
“Are you forgiving me?”
“Should I be a little more petty?”
When I asked coyly, his stiff lips drew a graceful smile. His eyes were so dazzling that it felt like a halo was shining behind his back.
