Ethan looked up towards the opening in the ceiling the body had come from, he reached down to grab the key, but only when he looked down did he notice he was wearing armor.
He crouched down a bit, doing a few stretches.
''Mobility is actually pretty decent, thought armor like this would be hard to move in.''
[Of course Operator, despite how it's depicted, full plate armor isn't actually that cumbersome, of course, to free form like your used to it might seem, but this can simply be marked up to using one of the more cumbersome, heavier frames like Rhino.]
([] will be used when Ordis is speaking, but he is not around, since it will be directly in the head.)
''We can't compare a frame that weighs a minimum of 2.4 tons, to a suit of armor.''
Ethan chuckled a bit before he made his way to the cell door, watching it he jiggled it a bit, before a solid kick removed it off its hinges.
The metal was so rusted, it was a wonder how it was still standing.
Looking to the broken sword in his hand he looked at how despite the broke piece, it was a well crafted and greatly maintained piece of metal.
''That's weird, the cells are heavily rusted, but this sword is in perfect condition despite being broken? I feel we're going to notice a lot of anomalies like this.''
[Your armor is slightly dirty as well, but it looks like normal wear, it has been cleaned but not polished.]
''Thanks for the fashion check Ordis.''
[Of course Operator.]
Looking up he noticed none of the undead was bothering him, so he began to bust through each cell as he moved, at one point he found a few supplies.
Some mosses that are used for clearing poison, and one for bleeding.
''Question Ordis, how do I use items?"
[Well, now that you are assimilated into the world, all you have to do is crush most items, certain items will be need to be consumed, there isn't enough data to give an in-depth explanation, you'll have to explore and find out yourself operator.]
''Good enough I guess.''
Ethan continued to search the cells, and finding some occasional soul packets, there wasn't much else.
Grabbing the ladder he began to climb it. Once he was up he headed directly for the bonfire, wondering how it worked.
Once he placed a hand onto the hilt of the sword, there was a pulse of energy before the sword sparked the flames suddenly burst down the length of the blade before it began to light the ash and bone.
[Unknown energy detected.]
[Scanning.]
[Energy Identified.]
[Operator, you're now officially a part of the 'Cycle'. Apart of the flame... The energy was time.]
''Time... actually, that makes sense.''
[Can you explain Operator?]
''You won't know this since you've only been given basic explanations for this game, but when you die, some enemies respawn, while bosses and other people like us, don't."
"It can be explained as a time loop, damned to be trapped in a forever time loop until you 'Lose your mind.' "
"When another Hollow dies, or a boss dies, and we rest at a bonfire. It is considered a 'Branch' of that time. The bonfires act as checkpoints through time for each person who attunes to them, and occasionally you will meet others if you stay long enough in your loop. As they come from the same branch as your own.''

''When a boss dies, a new 'Branch' is created.''
[Are you saying... That even if we, finish the 'Game' there will still be people who suffer from the loop?]
''I'm unsure Ordis... It'd be easier if I could view this as an actual game, but I can't. I've been training like a Tenno, something I once considered from a game, and I am now standing before a bonfire I once thought from a game.''
''At this point, I am doubtful this is just another game, there is already much more detail than the game ever described, the scents, the weight of the armor, able to go into locations I normally couldn't in the game, it's all 'Real' now..."
''Maybe the people of Earth were simply gifted with the ability to see hints into these worlds? Got together, and made games, movies, books, anime, comics, and so many more. But it's actually just worlds we catch glimpses of?''
[This is... A difficult question Operator, and an even more difficult answer.]
''It is, but that is why I wanted this Ordis, I wanted to learn. As we travel, we'll experience more, learn more, and be more. Maybe one day, we will be able to answer this question for ourselves... But for now Ordis? Let's enjoy ourselves... I'm going to start by throwing a cell door at the Demon.''
Ethan walked over to the door you're supposed to open later once you get the Estus and kicked it off its hinges, once he got the door he set it to the side and walked in and to the right, walking only a bit up the stairs as he heard the rumbling, he backstopped and raised an arm, letting some pebble's pelt against his armor before the ball crashed through the wall.
Once he felt everything settle down he walked to the destroyed wall. Coming to meet the first NPC of the game, Oscar.
''...Oh, you... You're no Hollow, eh? Thank goodness... I'm done for, I'm afraid... I'll die soon, then lose my sanity... I wish to ask something of you... You and I, we're both Undead... Hear me out, will you?"
Ethan shifted to kneel down beside Oscar, removing his helmet he set it on his knee.
''White hair... Dark skin? A foreigner to say the least...''
Ethan nodded before he spoke as well. ''I will hear your tale, Knight.''
"...Regrettably, I have failed in my mission... But perhaps you can keep the torch lit... There is an old saying in my family... Thou who art Undead, art chosen... In thine exodus from the Undead Asylum, maketh pilgrimage to the land of Ancient Lords... When thou ringeth the Bell of Awakening, the fate of the Undead thou shalt know... Well, now you know... And I can die with hope in my heart... Oh... Here, take this... An Estus Flask, an Undead favourite... Oh, and this...''
Being handed a golden flask, and a key, the Oscar coughed a few times.
"...Now I must bid farewell... I would hate to harm you after death... So, go now... And thank you..."
"May I ask your name?"
''...My name? Oscar... Knight of Astora..."
''Do you wish me to take your life so that you might pass with peace?''
''You... You would do that for me? Please... Take my blade, I have lived for Astora, I shall die by her blade."
Oscar's hands were starting to shake, as he offered the hilt of his beautiful blade.
Ethan took it, unsheathing it, he brought the blade to Oscar's throat.
''Thank you, Oscar, Knight of Astora. I shall bear the torch. I will ring the bells, and bring an end to this accursed mess.''
''No... Thank you.''
Ethan made sure it was quick, Oscar faded away, the sword staying behind.
Ethan raised a brow at the sword before he grinned. ''Ordis, looks like I found my first weapon.''
[So, you will not be throwing the door?]
''Oh no, he's getting the door.''
