Madam Xue stood by her husband, as she watched the man in his late life wrote their son’s name in cursive writing.
Sigh—it’s always been a disastrous conversation between them. I seriously wonder what will happen this weekend—please let the dinner pass peacefully this time…
Later at the dinner that night, Lu was fiddling with the dumpling in her bowl. The juicy dumpling kept slipping off her grip whenever she tried holding it with her chopsticks. She somehow felt discontented while the dumpling was drowning in her soup as she stared.
“What’s with the face? Did you just discover what happened in Huo’s family?”
“How on Earth would I even know that before you do?”
“Well, how on Earth do I even know when you look more like people from that side?”
“For the last time, I DON’T KNOW!” Said Lu as she threw her chopsticks onto the table and pulled a napkin off the box to wipe, before storming out of the place.
Huo saw his woman running away and passed a glance at her bowl which was half full.
She had so little for dinner that no doubt she would starve in the late evening.
Lu was gone and so was Huo’s appetite. He tossed the chopsticks into the bowl and lighted a cigarette.
Huo did not intend to tease Lu from the beginning but her agitation was wholeheartedly real. To calm the feline, nothing actually happened that night as soundly he fell asleep right after changing into his pajamas.
Lu Zhaoyang was the cooperative girl after all. Since Huo behaved himself, their breakfast went as peacefully as usual in the morning.
She took a few documents to his office in the afternoon, only to discover somebody else there.

It was Chen Lei, the P.A. of Huo Zhenning.
“Here’s an invitation written by master himself,” said the assistant, “Hope to see you at the dinner this weekend.” He courteously held the invitation with both hands as Huo grabbed it impatiently in disdain. There was a brief smile on his face when he dropped the invitation into the bin under the desk.
“You may leave now,” announced Huo as he acted all busy typing at his computer.
Chen Lei bit his lips, looking helpless since the task given was not accomplished. Old master would be angry if he failed to deliver the invitation.
Lu seemingly captured his gestures, went to the bin and picked the invitation out of the paper bin. “You can leave now,” she smiled sweetly at Chen Lei who nodded vigorously as if saved by an angel.
The assistant bowed a few times sincerely as he retreated to the door behind. The door was shut and that was when Lu’s waist got raided by a large hot palm which seized her entity. She sighed helplessly, as she was being led all the way to Huo’s thighs, like a cat being petted by its owner.
Reflexively she untied the ribbons on the invitation and presented the content to him, “Don’t throw things just yet, have a peek.” She decided to be gentle and firm.
“Okay.” Huo agreed, “We hereby would like to invite Mr. Huo Yunting, President of Thunderbolt Corp. to the Mansion of Huo Family in Kyoto Neighborhood on October 15th for the celebration dinner. Yours sincerely, Huo Zhenning.”
“Oh, a party, wohooo…” His tone went flat as he read the invitation word by word, with a smile colored by his stiffened indifference.
“Do you think it’s truly sincerely written?” Muttered he as he turned to Lu.
“Well, didn’t Assistant Chen say it before? The man wrote every letter himself, what do you think?”
Like seriously, I nearly dropped my jaws when I see the old man penning an actual invitation to you in full cursive writing.
“Tsk, please,” disdained Huo, “It’s probably just a dinner for his second baby or something. It wasn’t like this was the first child he h-” He held his words, as he seemingly realized something. The grip at Lu’s waist tightened, “I almost forgot. He has no son. I am not his son. So technically, he should be overjoyed having his fi-”
“I am going back this weekend regardless,” interrupted Lu as she placed the invitation on the table, “Didn’t I remember someone needs me to cuddle every night to sleep? Well, if you aren’t coming along, sleep alone.”
