Chapter 862: Divine Martial Country

Su Mo looked utterly dismayed. His search for the blood-striped seed had failed and now he was even having trouble getting out of this place.

“I’ll be damned!” Su Mo’s expression turned grave.

This Mist Mountains was truly terrifying; no wonder it was one of the ten forbidden areas in the continent.

After a while, Su Mo descended again to the forest.

Su Mo slowly flew through the forest and with every 33 meters, he left a slash mark on the trees he passed.

After an hour, he found that he passed by a tree with a slash mark he had left earlier. He had gone around in circles.

“This can’t go on any longer. This Space warps too mysteriously. I need to figure out its pattern in order to get out of this place!” Su Mo calmed down and used his Ghostly Magic Sight Martial Soul to examine the Space in front of him.

Aided by his Ghostly Magic Sight Martial Soul, he could clearly track how the Space warped.

However, the way the Space warped kept changing, probably due to the influence of the mist and Su Mo found it hard to grasp its logic.

After Su Mo had gained a better understanding of how the Space warped, he started to make his way forward by walking on air.

Su Mo proceeded in an interesting manner. After walking ten steps forward, he moved two steps to the left and then took another five steps forward. Subsequently, he would take three steps to the right before walking forward again.

Su Mo was walking along the traces left by the Space as it warped. Although he moved extremely slowly, it was very effective.

It looked like he was walking in circles but only he knew that he was walking in a straight line.

He continued to leave a slash mark with every 33 meters he covered, and dozens of hours later, he no longer came across the slash marks he left previously.

This showed that he was moving forward and was no longer running around in circles.

Su Mo was pleased. This Ghostly Magic SIght Martial Soul had been extremely useful.

Although its level was not high, it had been of great help to him.

Su Mo’s Devouring Martial Soul could devour and merge itself with the martial souls of others, which meant that he could then command their martial souls as his own. He had devoured many martial souls, but most of them were useless.

Some of the martial souls he had devoured were of a higher level than his own, but since they did not have any special abilities, Su Mo did not need them.

He only devoured them to upgrade his own Devouring Martial Soul.

Su Mo continued to move forward. As he walked in the void, he was occasionally ambushed by various demonic beasts, but he quickly killed them all.

Time flew and soon days had passed.

Five days later, Su Mo had not walked out of the forest, but he no longer saw the slash marks he left behind. This meant that he was moving forward.

“No matter how big this forest is, I should be able to get out of here!” Su Mo had lost his fervor to search of the Blood-striped Seed. He just wanted to get out of this place as soon as he possibly could.

“Hm? The mist had lightened up!” Su Mo exclaimed when he saw that the mist ahead had slowly started to thin.

Thrilled, Su Mo quickly moved forward. This could only mean that he was about to walk out of the Mist Mountains.

After flying for an hour, he saw that the mist ahead was thinner and that his field of vision grew wider.

Finally, Su Mo rushed out of the mist.

After he saw what was outside the mist, he was shocked for he had not walked out of the Mist Mountains at all.

Majestic mountain peaks towered ahead of him and dozens of mountain peaks formed a wide circle that kept the thick mist at bay.

Right in the middle of the circle was a vast land that had no end in sight.

Su Mo spotted a few cities that dotted the vast land ahead.

“There are cities here!” Su Mo was shocked.

Su Mo was astonished. Wasn’t the Mist Mountains a forbidden area? Could there be many martial artists living here?

Su Mostood between two tall mountains and a wide valley lay between them. He could enter the vast land through the valley ahead of him.

Swoosh!

He immediately flew for the city ahead of him without a second thought.

Suddenly, something happened.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Dozens of people from both mountains flew toward him and blocked his way.

“Hm?” Su Mo’s brows rose and he stopped in his tracks.

He looked around and saw that he was surrounded by more than twenty people, each clad in armor. They seemed to be part of an army.

Almost all of them were of True Darkness Realm and above and their leader was a burly middle-aged man that was of Lv 8 True Darkness Realm cultivation.

“Have you come from the outside world?” the leader asked Su Mo suspiciously as his men surrounded Su Mo.

“Yes!” Su Mo nodded, then asked curiously. “Where are you from?”

“We are the Divine Guards of Divine Martial Country!” the middle-aged man said proudly.

“Since you have arrived at Divine Martial Country, you must abide by our laws and head to our city for registration!” he added solemnly.

“Divine Martial Country?” Su Mo was stunned. Could this place truly be a country?

“That’s right!” the middle-aged man replied coldly. “Everything within this Mist Mountains is the territory of Divine Martial Country. Everyone here is a subject of the Divine Martial Emperor. If you flout our laws, we have orders to kill without exception!”

“Divine Martial Emperor!”

Su Mo’s curiosity was piqued now that he knew that a country existed in this place. This Divine Martial Emperor must be very powerful to command so many people as his subjects!

Su Mo did not assume that this so-called Divine Martial Emperor was a Martial Emperor Realm martial artist. Even if a Martial Emperor existed in the Firmament World, he would not be running a small country in such a far-flung place.

“Alright, I’ll present myself for registration at the city!” Su Mo said with a nod after a moment’s thought.

He was still not familiar with this place and so could not afford to clash with its citizens. He would decide on his next move after observing the situation at the city.

The middle-aged man breathed out a sigh of relief at Su Mo’s acquiescence. He could tell that Su Mo’s cultivation was extremely high and was not somebody that they could handle.

Now that Su Mo had agreed, he was saved from the hassle of having to deal with him.

“Ge Lin, bring him to Great Martial City for registration!” the middle-aged man turned to a young Divine Guard behind him.

“Yes, sir!” the young Divine Guard immediately turned to Su Mo and said, “Follow me!”

He then flew toward a city up ahead and Su Mo followed closely behind him.

As the Divine Guards watched Su Mo leave, they all wore different expressions.

“Leader, this man is from the outside world, which means that he must be very wealthy. Why didn’t you make a move?” a young Divine Guard asked curiously.

If they came across the occasional intruder from the outside world, they would usually just kill the intruder and then loot him.

Those from the outside world were usually hundreds of times wealthier than them and each time they could gain enormous wealth from it.

Therefore, this young Divine Guard could not understand why their Leader had let this intruder go.

The middle-aged man sighed and said, “This man looked extremely powerful. I don’t think that we would be able to defeat him even if we combined forces!”

“What?”

“Is he that powerful?”

The Divine Guards were all shocked to hear that the young man who didn’t even look twenty was probably not their match!

“I bet this man is a talented genius from the outside world. Hopefully, he abides by our laws while he remains here!” that middle-aged man added with a sigh.

There had been a few experts from the outside world who found their way to Divine Martial Country. However, they were all arrogant and unyielding, so few were able to abide by the laws of this country. They all ended up being killed here.

“Alright, back to our positions! Many powerful demonic beasts have been attacking us from the mist these days. We need to remain alert at all times!” the middle-aged man shouted and led the group of Divine Guards back to the mountain.
