Su Mo relaxed as soon as the lightning dragon was destroyed and felt an overwhelming sense of fatigue wash over his body. He became extremely dizzy and felt like the entire world was turning around him.
Swoosh!
Su Mo’s body plummeted straight to the ground.
“Divine Map!”
As the sound of rushing wind filled his ears, he bit hard on his tongue to regain a bit of consciousness and immediately entered the Divine Map.
He was now at his weakest point and was so weak that even an average martial artist could kill him.
Therefore, he had to escape into the Divine Map.
His body suddenly disappeared from view and a scroll floated down to the ground.
The lightning punishment had disappeared and so had Su Mo. Everything had returned back to normal.
Countless citizens of Divine Martial Country stared at the spot where Su Mo had disappeared in stunned silence. It was a while before they recovered from their astonishment.
“Did he survive?” someone asked uncertainly after a while.
“I think so!”
“Where did he go? How did he suddenly disappear into thin air?”
“I’m not sure!”
The crowd was confused. No one knew where Su Mo had gone to.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
After a while, close to a hundred people shot into the air and headed to where Su Mo was last seen.
These people were all famous experts in Divine Martial Country and that stern elderly man from Fire Palace was one of them.
They went over to check out the situation.
Soon, they arrived at the scene to find the entire place in shambles, with no one in sight.
“That’s strange. Where did that kid disappear to?”
“Was he destroyed into nothingness?”
“I don’t think so. He had clearly survived the lightning punishment!”
Everyone was confused. They had been watching from a distance and it had been hard for them to see clearly.
“Over there! There is a scroll!” a tall middle-aged man spotted the Divine Map and immediately summoned the Divine Map into his hand.
Everyone stared intently at the scroll that this middle-aged man held in his hand. It was very likely that Su Mo was inside this treasure.
“Commander Yue, do you mind letting me have a look at this scroll?” that stern elderly man from Fire Palace asked.
This tall middle-aged man was overall in charge of the Divine Guard and was of a half step to Martial Royal Realm cultivation. Regardless of strength or status, he was second only to the Divine Martial Emperor.
Commander Yue scoffed and said, “Master Yang, why do I have to let you have a treasure which I obtained?”
Times were different now that the Divine Martial Emperor was dead. Great change was about to sweep across the entire Divine Martial Country and they were no longer peers. Therefore, Commander Yue was not about to let that elderly man have a look at this treasure.
Instead of flaring up, Master Yang, the Palace Master of Fire Palace, thought for a moment then said, “This scroll definitely belonged to that punishment survivor earlier. Have you considered the consequences?”
Commander Yue froze for a moment, then asked gravely, “Master Yang, what are your thoughts?”
Master Yang’s gaze swept across the crowd and said, “Now that the Divine Martial Emperor is dead, it is likely that this man would replace him as the new Emperor. Therefore, we need to come together to discuss and formulate a plan for the future!”
“As for this scroll, none of us can claim possession of it. Once that man returns, we must respectfully present him with that scroll.”
The crowd nodded. Master Yang’s words made sense; everything hinged on whether or not that man would reappear.

If that man reappeared and wanted to reign over Divine Martial Country, they would have to pledge their allegiance to him.
After a brief round of discussion, they all returned to the crumbling Divine Martial City and quietly waited for Su Mo to make his appearance.
Commander Yue kept the Divine Map in his storage ring.
…
The moment Su Mo entered the Divine Map, he crashed onto the ground and lost consciousness.
He wasn’t even sure how much time had passed before he finally regained consciousness.
He felt as though there was a large mountain pressing on his eyelids, for he could not move them at all.
He used all his might before his eyes finally opened.
As he stared up at the sky, Su Mo laughed wryly. He had survived the Martial King Realm Punishment but he was now seriously injured.
He was extremely weak at the moment, and even getting to his feet was extremely challenging.
His serious injuries combined with his almost exhausted essence, qi and spirit had caused serious damage to his vitality.
He continued lying down for another hour before he felt some strength return. Then, he struggled to get up.
Cough! Cough! Cough!
As he moved, the blood rushed to his head and he immediately coughed out large mouthfuls of fresh blood.
He took out several healing elixirs and clumsily swallowed them.
As the elixir entered his body, he used a wisp of his Dark Force to refine it and its powerful pill efficacy started to heal his body.
Four hours later, his body had completely absorbed the healing elixir and he felt slightly better. His strength had also started to return to him.
“I don’t think I’ll be able to leave for a while!” Su Mo sighed.
His injuries were much too serious and he was too weak now to do anything. He had to work at healing his wounds first.
However, he only had two more months left before the 8th of October. He did not have much time left.
He looked at his limp, white hair which fell loosely around his shoulders and reached up to smooth his hair. The moment he touched his hair, large clumps of hair started to fall.
“Well!”
Su Mo sighed once again. He felt like he was a dying old man with no life left in him.
He slowly rose to his feet and walked toward the courtyard.
Bai Yin’er lay quietly outside the courtyard. Her vital signs were extremely weak, as though she might die at any moment.
“I hope you’ll make it!” Su Mo said as he walked toward her and breathed out a sigh of relief when he saw that injuries had not worsened.
Her injuries were not as serious as the ones he had sustained, but her body was too weak and the strain her body was able to take was nothing compared to his.
Su Mo popped a healing elixir into her mouth and used his Dark Force to help her release the pill efficacy. Then he sat-crossed and started to tend to his wounds.
The Divine Map was completely silent as Su Mo immersed himself in recuperating.
Five days passed before Su Mo finally stopped the healing process. He still had a long way to go before he was fully healed but he did not have much time left.
Furthermore, his essence, qi, and spirit had been severely depleted and he would not regain it in the short-term so there was no need to remain in the Divine Map.
Fortunately, he had barely managed to regain a small portion of his strength, so he was no longer completely helpless.
He tried to exit the Divine Map and frowned when he realized he could not leave.
“What is happening?” Su Mo wondered in confusion.
He used his mind to connect with the Divine Map to peer out.
He could see that the Divine Map was in a vast space with lots of Spiritual Stones, jade slips, weapons, and the like.
“It’s a storage space!” Su Mo was speechless. He immediately understood that the Divine Map was kept in someone’s storage ring, so he was not able to leave.
