"Um, let me get this straight…" Alex Go raised his hand. "You're saying that you want to wage war on the Yeongdeungpo Union…and you want us to join you?"

"Okay, technically speaking, I'm not the one who's waging war, it's the Union who is. The war has more or less already started," Samuel Han clarified. "I'm merely proposing a countermeasure through an alliance."

"Uh…sorry but I don't really understand half the things you just said," Ben Park rubbed his neck and laughed.

Everyone turned to look at him - exasperation pouring out of their expressions.

"D-Don't look like that! I get the gist of it…I think," Ben Park defended.

"Haiiz, Ben…" Alex patted his friend's back.

On the opposite couch, Gray Yeon sat silently whilst observing everyone else. He was honestly quite surprised when Samuel Han suddenly asked for a moment of his time but he was even more surprised to learn what Samuel had in mind.

He was rather confused as to why Samuel Han asked him of all people to join this alliance.

"Excuse me," he said softly.

Instantly, the room fell silent as everyone turned to look at the boy. Samuel immediately centered his attention on the main character.

"Frankly speaking, I don't really see why you've called me here of all people," Gray started. "Compared to Ben Park and the others here, I'm not strong like them."

"But you still win your fights, no?" Samuel Han countered with a grin.

Gray pursed his lips, "That's…"

Samuel chuckled and said, "Relax. I'm well aware of your methods to win and to be honest, that's exactly why I want you to join me."

"..."

In the background, Ben Park and Alex Go looked between the two males confusedly. Gerard Jin was watching everything unfold whilst humming a small tune. Eugene sat in the corner of the couch nervously sweating.

Samuel tapped his head, "Your brain Gray. You're the smartest out of everyone here…and the smartest in the entire school. In turns of knowledge and intelligence, you're the only one (possibly) that can rival the Union's leader; Donald Na."

He raised his fist and looked at it, "I may be able to win in terms of a physical fight but I can't win an intelligence battle. Simply beating up Donald won't stop the Union as a whole. If we want to get rid of them for good, we need to uproot it from the core."

"What's the core?" Gerard Jin finally spoke.

Everyone looked at Samuel with curiosity.

"Of course…it's connections, money, and influence," he slapped the whiteboard behind him where a fully drawn-out map featuring the Union members was.

'Wait, where did that whiteboard come from?!' everyone thought.

"I'm curious though, how are you so certain that we'd all join willingly?" Gerard Jin raised the question. Though his eyes were covered by his ridiculous broccoli hair, it was obvious that he was looking straight at Samuel.

'I'm curious too,' Gray thought.

Samuel paused for a minute.

True, no one would willingly walk into hell but if it was this group of people…

"Isn't it obvious?" Samuel glanced at them with a small smile.

"...?"

Standing in front of them, Samuel spoke with certainty;

"It's because you all are simply good people."

[Gray Yeon's Residence]

'It's because you all are simply good people.'

Good people.

Could Gray really consider himself that? He had never once considered himself a good person. In all honesty, Gray always felt that he was a very selfish person. He was someone who always placed himself above others.

No. A 'good' person would be someone like…

"Stephan…"

Sitting at his desk in his bedroom, Gray uttered a name that he hadn't said in a very long time. The name of a dear dear friend of his that he couldn't help.

'If I was really a good person, I would have done more…'

Thinking to himself, Gray replayed various memories he shared with his old friend before everything collapsed. He closed his eyes in anguish recalling the image of Stephan Ahn in a hospital bed with machines hooked up to him.

'Again…I don't want that to happen again…' he thought.

Entering Eunjang as a last resort, Gray hadn't considered the possibility of making new friends. His last friendship traumatized him deeply and forced up walls around his heart. In addition, given Eunjang's crap reputation, he didn't think friendships there were even possible for him.

But then came Eugene, Ben Park, Gerard Jin, and Alex Go…as acquaintances.

He was far from close to any of them but he could somewhat understand that they weren't bad people. Excluding Eugene whom he conversed with during class, the others and he barely exchanged words.

And then there was Samuel Han.

A strange anomaly.

He, much like Gray, didn't interact with anyone at all during the first week of school. But then, he suddenly came out of nowhere and singlehandedly took down the Yoosun students at the underpass. From there on, different stories of his 'feats' began popping up which all highlighted one particular detail.

His apparent 'monstrous' strength.

From these stories alone, one would think Samuel was the type to go around searching for a fight but Gray was almost a hundred percent certain that it was not so.

He'd observed the guy in class and had faintly painted a picture of him as someone who didn't like troublesome things.

For him to suddenly come out like this and propose such a preposterous plan, it seemed that he had finally snapped.

'What shall I do…'

Gray felt himself pondering.

[Fiery Chicken Restaurant]

"Order number 109! Order number 109!" Samuel Han shouted over the counter.

Moments after, a mother-daughter pair walked up to the counter and collected their meals before going back to their table.

Samuel scratched his cheek and tapped something on the register before greeting the next customer. He glanced up and barely restrained himself from frowning.

A familiar face.

"Welcome to Fiery Chicken. What can I get you?" he wore a forced smile on his face and spoke as politely as he could.

"You don't seem pleased to see me. Could it be…you know who I am?"

Jake Ji smirked in amusement. Of course, Samuel would know who he is by now. He was trying so hard not to show his displeasure in seeing him here.

"If you're not going to order something, please leave," Samuel spoke politely but there was an underlying 'Get the fuck out. I'm not in the mood for Union shit today.'

"Now now, that's not what you say to a customer. Shall I call for the manager?" Jake Ji poked his nerves.

There was a subtle twitch on Samuel's face.

He really didn't like this guy.
