Chapter 38 – I Like People Who Are Not Very Smart

Bai Huai’s fingers are shallowly inserted into Jian Songyi’s hair tips. Jian Songyi was a little bit uncomfortable with it, but with a few scratches, the mindless restlessness of Jian Songyi slowly subsided.

Jian Songyi pursed his lips and hung his eyes as he stood still.

And then suddenly, he started getting the feeling of impulsiveness again.

He had been stuck in his room for the whole day and was bored. And when he felt that he figured it out, he decided to go to Bai Huai to coax him well calmly, but Jian Songyi screwed up once again and lost his temper. He just burst right there.

He has always had a bad temper, but when he is in front of another person, he sees to it that he restrains himself, only making him grumpy and irritated. Although, Bai Huai has also gotten to be an exemption. Whenever Jian Songyi comes to him, he finds himself being unreasonable and vexatious.

He couldn’t tell why, but he felt a little aggrieved and felt like he didn’t have to hide anything at all. It’s as if he is just that transparent when it comes to Bai Huai.

Jian Songyi is always angry, but not because of what Bai Huai says or what he does. He is angry because he couldn’t seem to say what he wants to say to him. He is mostly angry at himself, which he could not admit either.

So when Bai Huai smiled and caressed his head like that, Jian Songyi felt a little embarrassed and waved his hand to take Bai Huai’s hand against him. “Don’t touch my head.”

Bai Huai withdrew his hand and took the bowl: “Would you like to have dinner together? Aunt Liu made a lot of food, and I couldn’t finish it by myself. “

Jian Songyi scoffed with disdain: “Do I look like the kind of person who has a food gap?”

“But I need some company.”

“…..”

Jian Songyi pulled himself to walk inside straight into the door. He then without a word changed his shoes and directed himself towards the table.

The man pretended to be so pitiful that he was embarrassed to be angry again.

The two of them sat face to face with simple home-cooking before them and two bowls of rice on each of their sides.

As the dusk is about to fall, the sun struggles to shed its last golden light through the windows for the two teenage boys. With that, ever so slowly, the scenery changes to a quiet autumn night, leaving only the dining room to be lit up with warm egg-yolk light from the chandelier.

Jian Songyi chooses his food and picks it piece per piece enthusiastically as he eats. On the other hand, Bai Huai still contained himself disciplined as he adheres to etiquette. He occasionally reaches out with his chopsticks to grab the celery and carrot that have mistakenly gotten into someone’s bowl.

Bai Huai is not gluttonous, so after he is seven percent full, he picked up a porcelain bowl. He then opened the lid of the purple sand jar and filled his bowl with a spoonful of soup. Afterward, he placed a large piece of chicken leg in it before putting the bowl in front of Jian Songyi.

Jian Songyi raised his brow. “Are we going to pig out now? Am I a pig?”

“No one takes a pig of your weight to the slaughterhouse.”

Jian Songyi: “…..”

“You said you were 1.83 meters, but why is it that you don’t weigh that much? How did you grow?”

“It’s not like I do not eat. I eat no less than you. It’s just that I have a bad stomach. What else can I do?” Jian Songyi replied as he was planning to pour the bowl of soup all over his rice.

“I thought I good care of it for you.” Bai Huai stated as he clapped Jian Songyi’s eager hand away from the bowl. “Sip the soup after the rice.”

“You should be a doctor. You’ll be good in pediatrics.”

“I do think so too. After all, I have more than ten years of experience when it comes to taking care of a certain child with intellectual disabilities.”

“…..”

Jian Songyi is relieved and full.

Bai Huai raised his eyes and took a deep breath before chuckling: “Are you still angry?”

Jian Songyi turned a deaf ear to him.

Bai Huai picked a piece of fish before speaking slowly. “Don’t be angry anymore. I’m not avoiding you today. I am not disgusted with you either. I just thought that you might want to avoid suspicion is all.”

“Oh.” Jian Songyi poked his rice twice with the chopstick.

“But do you mind it that much?”

“I am not the one who can’t afford a joke. And you know, I can’t be with an Alpha. But then there’s also the fact that I can’t be with an Omega. So if people really think we have something, then they’d be able to help me block bad peach blossoms and save me the trouble.”

“You don’t like Alpha that much?” Bai Huai bowed his head and carefully picked the fishbone, in a light tone, as if it had nothing to do with his own business.

Jian SOngyi continued poking his rice carelessly. “To be honest, I just couldn’t see myself with an Alpha. I can’t accept being marked and being a possession of an Alpha. I am not that dense, which Alpha can take me as a match?”

“Quite narcissistic.”

“It’s called having full and reasonable self-awareness.”

“But have you ever thought of another possibility?” Bai Huai asked as he put the fish into Jian Songyi’s bowl before placing both of his hands against the table and looking at him.

Jian Songyi chewed the fish and raised looked back at Bai Huai.  “Well?”

“What if we get together? I won’t mark you. I’ll just be your partner, and you can consider it as my good deed for the day.”

“Ahem—” Jian Songyi coughed as he choked on the fish in surprise. He could feel his face flushing.

Bai Huai smiles and hands a glass of water to him: “Are you scared?”

Jian Songyi took the glass and drink large gulps. It took a long time for him to be able to breathe normally again. “What are you thinking? As my mother always said, we grew up together. I can’t fool you. And don’t you have someone you like? You don’t have to make such a great and huge sacrifice for me.”

“The person I like doesn’t seem to like me very much.”

“?”

“Is she blind?” Jian Songyi asked him as he started to get upset.

Bai Huai looked at Jian Songyi with a relaxed looked. “Not blind but not very smart. The person has a bad temper and is a little too difficult to coax.”

“What do you like about her?”

“The ghost is lost in his mind.”

“Tsk.” Jian Songyi chews his lower lip slightly. “I didn’t expect that our top Alpha like Master Bai would ever witness a defeat such as this. This Omega must think that she is too dignified to bring you down. It’s an Omega, right?”

“Yes.”

“If it’s not that easy then mark her forcedly. You can just coax her afterward. Coax her, be nice to her. You can give her all the moon and stars. And then take out your top Alpha technology and weapons. First, feed the stomach and then walk all the way to her heart. It will surely be enough, and you can stop there. Happy Ending! Although this sounds a bit lame, an Omega will surely eat this routine. So long as you are handsome and rich, forced marking will eventually be forgiven.”

Bai Huai squinted his eyes towards Jian Songyi like a sly fox again. “Are you sure?”

“I am sure! Little Huai, do not worry about it. Just do it boldly. If you fail, Little Songyi will help you with this handsome face, alright?”

Jian Songyi really thinks that it’s okay. Although, he can’t think of any reason why an Omega doesn’t like Bai Huai.

A person that doesn’t like Bai Huai? Is she even for real? She doesn’t understand what she is letting go of.

It doesn’t exist, it must be Aojiao.

Bai Huai is such a gentleman that an Omega can easily shy about him because of it. Nevertheless, he shouldn’t take it as a rejection. In fact, he must be allowed to take initiative.

When Jian Songyi thought of this, he felt that he is a very good friend. He is definitely proud of himself.

On the other hand, Bai Huai did nothing else but write down the passage Jian Songyi said word for word.

It is a pity that he wasn’t able to record it. Otherwise, Jian Songyi won’t be able to deny it later and there will be evidence.

Forced marking and then Alpha technology and weapons. He first has to feed his stomach and walk all the way to his heart.

Just by thinking about all of these words, Bai Huai could not help but chuckle: “I always thought that brother Song is a pure man.”

“Oh, but he is.”

“A pure man must be responsible for every word he says.”

“That’s for sure.”

“Alright. I will keep that in mind. “I will think about your routine later.”

Jian Songyi took a sip of the soup and nodded with satisfaction. “I child can be taught. Oh, speaking of the child, it just so happens that I ordered you a candy cake.”

“I don’t like it.”

“I know you don’t like it. I do not like it either. I just bought it for you to make a wish. With the birthday candle as a witness, you can surely get your luck back as soon as possible.”

“Alright. Thanks for your favorable words.”

The lights went out. As a result, the night outside the house swept into the room they were in.

The candle lit up, reflecting the pretty eyes of the teenager. Even his tear mole seems like getting warmed up as well.

Close your eyes and make a wish.

The moment the warm yellow candle went out, Bai Huai ushered in the real 18 years old.

Bai Huai knows that even many years later, he would still feel that being 18 years old is going to be the best year of his life.

Although the days are getting better and the people he would come across it will also get nicer, they would not be as greater as the people and the time this year would make him remember.

Love, friendship, dreams, and everything warm and hopeful in life came to him as soon as this certain man walked into the night with his light. He saved him from the long lonely wasteland.

However, at the age of 18, most people are not as gentle and amazing as they imagined and remembered. There are definitely more ups and downs along the way than anyone could think of.

Most people live in chaos and war because this age represents the age of the college entrance examination.

And the college entrance examination represents endless problem books and exams that the top of students’ heads starts balding early. Their hairlines just start retreating.
