Isaac slid the chair out from under the table and took a seat. In front of him was the wooden desk with books piled on top. Behind the desk was the window and curtains draped over it.
The night sky could be seen from the narrow gaps of the curtains. Isaac cherished the sight of shiny stars circling around the sky and the large grayish sphere floating in outer space.
Isaac rubbed his hands and began to work. He pulled out his phone and opened the screen before going to the settings. He slid his thumb on the screen and saw the Wi-Fi turned on.
Then, he connected the tiny end of the charger with the charging dock and saw the dimly yellow light appearing. It was the sign that the phone was now charging.
Once done with that, he placed the phone down on the bed and pulled his laptop from his backpack.
He placed it in front of him and pressed a side button that turned the laptop on. Once the fans became whirling, the dark screen changed, and the starting screen popped up.
Isaac placed his index finger on the touchpad and moved the mouse cursor till it was on top of a globe-like item. He double-clicked and saw his phone's model name on top of the list.
Once he clicked on it, the laptop had its Internet connected.
Crack!
He cracked his knuckles and opened the Internet Browser. This time, he didn't do idly surfing. Instead, opened the messaging app and downloaded all the study material Alice sent.
There were ten pop-ups, and they were filled with words and questions. Isaac placed his hand in front of him and rested his chin on it.
His face showed boredom while scrolling through the study material. Even though he didn't seem interested, his eyes skimmed through the text like he was a computer.
He was always an excellent student and was always at the top of his class. That was another reason for Oliver's hate toward him. He tried to best him even once but never could.
Half an hour later.
Brr!
The phone's light went from yellow to green, and like clockwork, he received a message.
Isaac took it off the charger, opened the screen, and went to the messaging app.
[Luna: Hehe, I was curious about the forum and visited it once today. When I was about to leave after seeing the things you warned me about, I saw this image!]
Below the message was an app of an announcement.
[Regional Announcement: Player Wraith have achieved First Clear of Hidden Dungeon of Test— Recorded in Stronglord Hall of Fame of Heroes!]
''Oh.'' Isaac was stunned. However, when he thought about it deeper. Usually, news travels fast, and it wasn't weird for his accomplishment to reach the forum.
When he logged out, he managed to see News Articles of Lord Kalzer getting the First Clear, and he did it half an hour faster than him!
The difference felt immense. But, Isaac pulled him out of the state of distress and returned to his previous self.
Isaac began typing a message.
[Isaac: Lucky, I guess. The news about the event came so suddenly that I don't think half of the player base managed to reach Beast Forest before the event began]
After sending the message, he thought that the conversation was over. Isaac placed the phone back on the desk, his eyes still glimpsing the screen every now and then.
His heart pounded, and studying was the last thing in his mind. He tapped the desk with his index finger, and after getting impatient, he grabbed the phone and sent another message.
[Isaac: Luna, would you be interested in going to Brightstar's Festival next weekend with me?]
After sending the message, he dropped the phone on the desk and leaned on the backrest.
…
Luna was lying on the bed with a book in her hands. She was wearing pink pajamas while having her hair tied in a ponytail.
Her toes fidgeted out of instincts after reaching an exciting part of the book. She had always enjoyed more action-packed scenes and always felt her heart pounding during those times.
But, she also liked more relaxed scenes with only ML and FL alone and loved the romantic scenes. She always self-inserted herself into the books, hoping that she could one day have a similar romantic experience as FL in her favorite book.
Brr!
Then, the phone next to her vibrated. She dropped the book and pulled out the phone.
She rolled around till she was lying flat on her back, ''Hmm, a message from Isaac?''
Her heart suddenly pounded, and she opened the message with a smile. She began reading the message, and once she did it once, her eyes skimmed the text two, three, four, and fifth times.
''Is he… Asking me out for a date?!'' She sat up with cheeks flushed, but then she slapped herself in the cheeks, ''Dummy, you read too many books…''
Her fingers hovered in the air, and when she was about to reply with an instant yes, she remembered that it won't be that easy.
Luna's parents and grandparents were very protective. Especially after the commotion, she caused in Whitelock Residence. She had a rather embarrassing conversation with her mother, which she would like to forget.
''Mmm… I want to say yes… But, I need to ask from mommy and daddy.'' She bit her soft pink lips and came to a conclusion.
She wrote a message and pressed sent.
[Luna: I need to ask mom and dad first, please wait!]
…
Isaac's finger was resting next to the laptop's touchpad. When he was about to scroll down and continue studying, he stopped because couldn't concentrate.
When he thought he wouldn't receive a reply, the phone vibrated.
Brr!
He snatched the phone, and the messaging app was already visible. Once he saw Luna's reply, he sighed in relief and disappointment.
Isaac replied. He said that he would be waiting for an answer, and once sent, he closed the screen.
Bam!
He closed the laptop panel and stuffed it inside his backpack. His eyelids were getting rather heavy, and the sleepiness couldn't be simply shrugged off.
Then, he heard a rather strange sound.
Clank!
''Hmm?'' Isaac wondered where the sound came from. But, the sound soon continued.
Clank!
The sound came from a window. Once Isaac moved the curtain out of the way slightly, enough for him to take a peek outside.
On the other side of metal fences, a group of elegantly dressed teenagers threw rocks at nearby buildings.
''What the hell are they doing?'' Then, Isaac saw another rock coming from a teenager that seemed to be their leader. The rock struck the window and made a tiny crack!
The crack was tiny enough for the window to stay intact, but it won't after three or four more rocks.
Clank!
Isaac opened the window's lock, and when another rock was already airborne, he lifted the window up and saw the rock flying through the open window and landing right next to his comfy bed.
The teenagers were surprised at the sight of an open window. They realized they were about to get caught and began to scurry away!
They split up, the other group going to the left while the other to the right up the slope.
Isaac bent down and picked the rock up. He went back to the window and looked where the leader of the teenager group was.
Soon, he found where he was with his excellent eyesight. The leader shared an intimate kiss with his assumed girlfriend while running away with his friends.
Isaac had seen his kind of type before. Thinking that his actions won't have consequences and that he could keep his thug act even as an adult.
Isaac was about to teach him that it won't be so simple. He rolled the rock around his palm and looked up into the night sky.
The wind was calm and steady. Isaac moved the rock between his fingers and placed his arm behind him.
His eyes were following the leader teenagers retreating back, and soon they were about to reach a turn that led to the left. Then, Isaac made his move.
The throwing was a whole-body activity, and Isaac displayed it to perfection. He rotated his hips and continued with his trunk and shoulder girdle rotation.
His arm moved like a whip, and once it was overhead, Isaac let go of the rock and watched it as it flew across the beautiful starry sky.
The rock struck the teenager in the head only short seconds later, causing him to fall headfirst on a snow pile.
Isaac dusted off his hands and closed the window. Then, he moved the curtains and covered the window.
