Kou Qiong looked at Chu Li eagerly with wide eyes.
Chu Li cast a sidelong glance at him. “Why? You want me to be a Patrol?”
“It’s such a good opportunity to get promoted, don’t you want to go, Young Master?” Kou Qiong asked.
Chu Li shook his head. “I’m unworthy of the title, I’m not going!”
“Young Master, it’s a rare opportunity!” Kou Qiong quickly persuaded, “If you miss this, you won’t know how long you’ll have to wait for the next! Our war with the Qiu Dynasty is almost ending, it’ll be hard for you to get another chance!”
“There’ll be another chance,” Chu Li replied, “Besides, I don’t need to be promoted, I’m happy with where I am now.”
“Young Master, based on your martial art skills, it’s such a waste of talent for you to stay in Gale City!”
“What do you mean by it’s a waste of talent? I feel free here and I love it.”
“Young Master, you’re not someone who’ll be content to be below others.”
“Enough with the blabbering, just mind your own business. Did anything else happen in Gale City?”
Kou Qiong shook his head and smiled. “Gale Branch is very dominant now, nobody dares to stir up trouble. Oh right, Miss Yue Ru is back.”
Chu Li nodded. “She’s out of isolated cultivation… Alright, you may leave now.”
Kou Qiong gave him a fist salute, then left.
Later, Chu Li sat on his bed and began cultivating Fillip Swift Thunder.
After cultivating the technique for a long period of time, Chu Li began to improve faster in Fillip Swift Thunder. Unlike other martial arts where he progressed slower toward the end, his progress in Fillip Swift Thunder became faster.
Fillip Swift Thunder was difficult to be cultivated in the beginning, hence was a huge challenge for others. It required one to go beyond one’s limits as it was too complicated and wore out one’s spiritual force easily.
It was more painful to be spiritually exhausted than being physically exhausted.
The former felt like a hangover, which was unbearable, while the latter was equivalent to labor. Although one might feel sore in the end, it also felt good in a way, which were two entirely different feelings. Therefore, very few people could withstand the mental suffering as they would rather be physically worn out.
With overflowing spiritual force, Chu Li’s circulatory cycle operated much faster than others. Even so, after a hundred over cycles, the lanterns outside were already lit by the time he opened his eyes. While his house was dark, the courtyard was brightly lit.
When Chu Li left his house, the maid served him dinner.
Once again, footsteps were heard as Kou Qiong hurried over. This time, he looked mad.
Chu Li looked up at him. “What happened this time? You’re the Vice Branch Leader, you must act like one!”
“Young Master, word came from Great Light Peak again,” Kou Qiong responded. “Someone snatched the position as a Patrol!”
Chu Li raised his brows. “Who?”
“Deng Datong!” Kou Qiong was furious. “I can’t believe that he’s so shameless, and took advantage of the situation!”
Chu Li placed his chopsticks down, then gestured Kou Qiong to sit opposite him. “Sit down and tell me the details.”
Kou Qiong sighed right after he sat down. “I heard that Deng Datong set up a military order, and claimed that he’ll revenge the previous Patrol’s death in ten days or he won’t be the next Patrol!”
Chu Li frowned.
‘He must be extremely confident or he wouldn’t have made such a huge claim.
‘The disciples of the Holy Church of Light aren’t fools, they’re exceptionally smart. Deng Datong must’ve found the murderer, and is certain that he can kill the murderer.’
“Forget it then.” Chu Li nodded.
“Young Master, that’s so infuriating!” Kou Qiong expressed, “It’s not fair!”
Chu Li laughed. “How do you know that it’s not fair? As far as I know, the Saint’s very fair.”
“Young Master, based on your contributions, you should’ve been promoted to a Patrol long ago, yet it never happened. Moreover, when you had this perfect opportunity, you decided to let others have it instead.” Kou Qiong scoffed. “Deng Datong was just lucky, he contributed during our war against the Qiu Dynasty, but it’s nothing compared to what you’ve contributed so far, Young Master!”
Chu Li waved his hand as he smiled. “Alright, let’s just forget it since the decision has been made.”

“Young Master, if you don’t voice out this time, this will only repeat again, nice people will be bullied!” Kou Qiong convinced. “Young Master, you should speak to the Saint, she mustn’t bully you like that!”
“Stop nagging me!” Chu Li said snappily, “You just want me to leave because I’m an eyesore!”
Kou Qiong immediately gave up.
Chu Li uttered, “Don’t talk about this anymore! I’ll be staying here for a few days before I continue my cultivation in isolation! Oh right, check who killed the Patrol.”
“Yes,” Kou Qiong answered in low spirits.
When Chu Li waved his hand, Kou Qiong quickly left.
As Chu Li pondered, he looked at the sky, then looked into Great Light Peak’s direction. He sighed a breath of relief.
Back then when Chu Li sneaked into the Holy Church of Light, he was worried that something like this would happen. Once the Li Dynasty attacked the Ji Dynasty, he would feel uncomfortable. While it was such an important opportunity for the others, he wanted to avoid it as much as he could.
Based on the circumstances, it was best that Chu Li would never be promoted. If he were to become a Patrol, an Altar Leader, or even a Priest, he would be bound to go against the Ji Dynasty. This was because the Ji Dynasty was the Li Dynasty’s biggest enemy.
After dinner, Chu Li did not leave right away, he strolled around Gale City to show his presence. When he walked past Phoenix Goddess Brothel, he did not pay Miss Yue Ru a visit.
The next morning, Chu Li returned to his bedroom again from the Public House. By then, Kou Qiong was already waiting outside.
Chu Li asked, “What is it this time?!”
Kou Qiong replied, “Young Master, someone from Great Light Peak is here to see you.”
“Let her in,” Chu Li answered lazily.
“Yes,” Kou Qiong responded. Soon enough, a young lady in green clothes arrived.
Chu Li walked down the steps outside his bedroom and gave her a fist salute. “Senior Sister Du.”
“Junior Brother Zhao.” The young lady in green clothes had an elegant body and charming looks. She returned the salutation, then said, “I’m here by the Saint’s order to call you back.”
“Alright, let’s move now,” Chu Li replied.
The two of them immediately left Gale City through their Light-body Technique.
The lady in green clothes used her Light-body Technique to the maximum limit, and while she fluttered in the air like the wind, she was actually moving at lightning speed. She was two times faster than a galloping horse, and also had amazing stamina.
When Chu Li followed her, he asked casually, “Senior Sister Du, I heard that a new Patrol has been elected?”
“Yes.” The lady in green clothes nodded.
She thought to herself, ‘Zhao Dahe’s really worthy of his reputation. He may not have cultivated for long, but his cultivation level is more superior than mine.’
Chu Li asked, “Senior Brother Deng left the peak after he obtained the position, right?”
“Senior Brother Deng’s waiting for you, Junior Brother Zhao.” The lady in green clothes shook her head.
Chu Li was stunned. “He’s waiting for me? I don’t think I know Senior Brother Deng, we were never acquainted.”
“That’s odd.” The lady in green clothes grinned. “Senior Brother Deng seems to value you a lot, he specifically asked the Saint to have you assist him.”
Chu Li furrowed his brows. “What assistance does he need?”
“Taking revenge for Senior Brother Chang’s death.” The lady answered, “Senior Brother Deng set up a military order. He claimed that he’ll avenge Senior Brother Chang’s death in ten days, but under the condition that you assist him in this, Junior Brother Zhao.”
Chu Li asked, “The Saint agreed?”
“Yes.” The lady in green clothes nodded.
Chu Li’s face darkened right away.
Upon seeing the change in Chu Li’s expression, the lady in green clothes quickly mentioned, “This is a great chance to render a commendable service, Senior Brother Deng meant well.”
Chu Li shook his head.
The lady was puzzled. “Why? Are you unwilling to, Senior Brother Zhao?”
Chu Li scoffed. “Why should I assist Senior Brother Deng in avenging Senior Brother Chang’s death? I can just do it myself!”
He already found out that Senior Brother Chang was the former Patrol, Chang Ning, and was killed by Li Hanyan from Snow Lunar Pavilion.
