Chapter 3: Chapter 2: The Truth II

No! She would ask me that in exchange for her silence! I can't let her! How could she threaten me about what had happened earlier? It was just common knowledge that anyone could overlook... Maybe I'm the only one... No! I was an exception. I was studying too hard, which made me forget about these "months." "Little Alicia, call me big sis from now on, or else you already know what will happen," Licia smirked, her palm rubbing the other side of my cheeks. I could feel it. It was soft and cold.

 

"Hehehe, even though I don't like any embarrassing things coming out about me. I need to say no to your request," I said as I placed her finger on my mouth, biting her finger gently; she seemed not to mind. She and I are connected for some reason, it feels like our souls were one; it's not that I'm exaggerating, but it's what I've felt since we were born, so I guess this is the reason why we have that. What I mean by "that" is that sometimes we could feel each other's senses out of nowhere, like when she got hurt one time and I felt it; I guess it wouldn't harm her if I were to absorb her magic a little. Now I just need to absorb her magic power until she weakens herself. First, I just need to distract her so she won't be able to feel her magic power weakening. "Lucia, I want to ask something first," I added. Lucia gave me a confused and irritated look on her face.

 

"Huh? Suddenly changing the topic, did my sudden request does something to your head? And also, what choice do you still have? Unless you won't care about your "smart" reputation, right?" Lucia said to me with a glaring face. I didn't answer her; I remained silent. I just gazed into her eyes, trying to make our conversation a little longer. Her eyes just by looking at them—made me feel something deep inside me telling me she was dangerous. Maybe the dangerous one was her mouth? Lucia looks around, scanning to ensure nothing bad will happen. After a few seconds, Lucia sighed and broke the silence. "All right, what do you want to know?" She asked. "Also, do my fingers have a taste?" she added, smiling and teasingly. 

 

"I heard your conversation with that man; why did you agree to meet him? If you won't answer I tell you to mother," I said with a little smile. I saw her yesterday talking to someone, and I only heard they would meet up in the deep, where we are not allowed to go since it is full of wild beasts. That man was also a visitor from outside. If Mother were to know this, she would be so angry. Of course, I was concerned; their meeting in the deep was already suspicious.

 

"I-Alright, I answer, but you better not tell this to Mother," Licia said. "Remember when we were talking about our dream? And you said you want to travel around the world. That is why you are always working hard, proving to Mother that you could stand on your own and survive on your own outside the village when the time comes. I also asked you, "If you were going to travel with someone, what kind of person would it be?" You answered and said, "Someone could support and protect my weakness." I, too, want to go with you. I don't want you to leave me... That is why I have been secretly training all day; I want you to choose me... I saw the man teaching the others. So I asked if he could teach me alone, and he agreed. But, since they are leaving tomorrow, he asked me to go to the depths, where he will teach me the final thing he will teach me."

 

That explains why she's been disappearing so much these last few days. "I'm not that weak anymore, can you please..." Lucia's tear was already streaming down my cheek. I answered, "I'm sorry," I said to Lucia, and her face was like saying, "As I expected." But I think Lucia misunderstood something. I stop absorbing Lucia's magic and switch our positions. I was now on top, while she was at the bottom. Lucia's face was filled with surprise; she didn't expect me to take over. "Lucia, when I said that, I was talking about you; you are the only one who supports my dream, to begin with, and I was also hoping you would support me in this dangerous yet fun journey," I said while wiping her tears away.

 

For a few seconds, there was an awkward silence between us. And so I broke this silence: "Lucia, about your meet-up..." Despite the fact that that man has been training Lucia for the past few days, I am still concerned for her. I don't know why, but it feels like that man has another intention. Maybe I could join them and see if this man really has no other intentions. "Yes?" Lucia asked why I suddenly mentioned their meet-up. "Can I watch?" I request this, hoping for her to agree. "Eh? "A-about that, haha, how do I say it? It was supposed to be a surprise," Lucia replied. Eh? A surprise? "Are you ok, Lucia? It wasn't a surprise anymore, you already told me," I said, making her understand. "Haha," Lucia was laughing awkwardly. "Even so, I still can't, it's a promise to master," Lucia added. Hm? A secret meeting? I wonder why? "I understand, Lucia, but I can't promise that I won't tell this to mother," I said. "Eh!!? I understand you can come and watch."

 

Out of nowhere, I got the urge to hug Lucia. I was hugging Lucia, and our tails were intertwined. "Eh? Out of nowhere?" Lucia said it in surprise. "What? You hate it?" I asked teasingly. Lucia sighed and hugged me also. But while feeling the warmth of each other, we both fall asleep.
