Lu Miao                                              Jiang Haoyue

On the day she first met Jiang Haoyue, Lu Miao wore a yellow skirt.

She is so active that she jumps up and down mischievously when she has nothing to do. Lin Wenfang doesn’t like her to wear skirts because it is inconvenient to wash them.

Occasionally wearing a skirt, Lu Miao was obviously very excited. Her left hand secretly pulled up her gauze skirt under the car seat, buttoned it around the embroidery of the little flower, and pulled out all the threads at the edges of the petals.

When Lin Wenfang saw it, she couldn’t help getting a lecture: “That’s outrageous! You’re already in the second grade, but you don’t look like a girl.”

Lu Miao is simple girl.

“Do you remember what Mother taught you to say before?” Lin Wenfang couldn’t relax.

Lu Miao nodded like mashing garlic: “I remember. I remember.”

Then she turned around and entered the hospital. While Lu Yongfei and his wife talked to Jiang Yi, the skinny child spread his feet and ran away again.

Then she turned around and entered the hospital. While Lu Yongfei and his wife talked to Jiang Yi, the skinny child spread his feet and ran away again.

There was a distinctive smell of disinfectant in the hospital. Lu Miao felt that it smelled better than the earthy smell of rain outside. In the science class, it was said that disinfectant was used to kill bacteria.

There are six beds in each pediatric ward. She walked to the patient’s beds one by one and guessed which child was called Jiang Haoyue by his parents.

What’s more mysterious is that Lu Miao could really recognize him at a glance.

The boy slept in the innermost bed in the ward. The window was closed tightly, but he seemed to be still cold, and most of his body was wrapped under the quilt, revealing only a bloodless face and a hand hanging off the IV bottle.

Lu Miao straightened her yellow skirt and stood up ladylike in front of his bed.

The sheets were white, and the gauze on the boy’s hands was also white.

The smell of the disinfectant here seems to be much stronger than that in other places. Lu Miao thought: It could kill many bacteria, so he must be the cleanest person in this room.

When their parents entered the room, Lu Miao was doing the task that Lin Wenfang had given her.

“Hello, Brother Jiang Haoyue. My name is Lu Miao. I’m in the second grade of Southeast Elementary School, and I’m eight years old this year.

Her pronunciation was precise, and her diction was correct. She also knew that she couldn’t speak loudly in the ward, so she deliberately lowered her voice.

Lu Yongfei saw that Jiang Haoyue’s eyes were closed, and he was sleeping. Just as he was about to rush over to tell his daughter not to disturb the patient to rest, Lin Wenfang quietly held him back.

“It’s okay. Lu Miao’s voice is not loud enough to wake people up.”

The couple glanced at Jiang Yi from the corner of their eyes, but he didn’t say anything.

Lu Miao didn’t quite understand why when she was halfway through speaking, the brother on the bed suddenly closed his eyes.

It never occurred to her that he didn’t like her, that sort of thing.

She just thought, maybe this brother is sleepy. After all, he is injured and will be sleepy easily. When she attends classes, she gets drowsy on the way and suddenly falls asleep.

“Brother, you should get better quickly. Let’s raise chickens together.”

When she talks about chickens, Lu Miao can’t help being happy.

Although the brother was asleep, the words her mother ordered her to say had not been finished yet, so she kindly sped up her speech.

“You will have one more sister in the future, which is me.”

Afraid he might forget who she was, Lu Miao reminded him: “My name is Lu Miao. You can call me Miao Miao.”

“I’ll give my chocolate to you!

After giving this piece of chocolate to Jiang Haoyue, she will get two pieces of chocolate when she goes home.

Lu Miao generously puts the chocolate into Jiang Haoyue’s hand.

The palms clenched on Jiang Hayue’s infused hands were loosened by Lu Miao. He opened his fingers and forcibly gave the present.

With such an action, the needle tube was accidentally pulled.

Jiang Haoyue frowned. Because he feigned to sleep earlier, so he had to continue pretending.

On the way home from the hospital, Lu Yongfei asked Lu Miao how she could recognize Jiang Haoyue.

“Could it be that you are literate, so you can read the name tag beside the hospital bed and recognize the character of Jiang Haoyue’s name?”

Lu Miao shook his head. Then, Lu Yongfei and Lin Wenfang said, “As expected.”

“I don’t know. I just think so.”

Lu Miao thought about it for a while. After racking her brain to explain, what that intuition was, she said, “In the ward, he is different from others... He is the best looking.”
