Chapter 10: Chapter 9 – Forest of Rogrendria

After exiting through the portal, Isabell and I finally found ourselves outside, the fresh air we could breathe and sunlight we experienced after coming out from dark, I was overjoyed but Isabell’s eyes were filled with tear.

I asked her… Hey is everything alright?

“This world has changed so much.” Said Isabell while sniffling

“I’m glad I finally get to see outside after so many years.”

Yeah… it’s alright now.

[Gently patting Isabell’s head]

Together we’ll make our lives better.

Oh hey! I have an idea, let’s sit down somewhere and eat some apples.

(I found a place under a tree where we could relax.)

I let Isabell lean on to my shoulder.

Isabell hesitates a bit but she leans onto me without saying anything

“Say Kazuma, what is that thing you’re always using to pull in and out items, is that spatial or space magic?”

Oh? So, you can’t see what appears in front me then huh?

Hmm… I see, well I’m not sure how to explain this but think of it as one of my abilities. I’ll tell you all about it later for now let’s eat.

(Using player’s menu while eating the apples with Isabell, a notification appeared on my screen saying due to cheat menu and stat-steal, player’s stats and levels have become irrelevant for player’s progress, thus the player’s overview has now been removed.)

[Alert: Camera menu has been added in player’s menu, player can now use camera’s menu to look at  himself, take pictures, and use it for analysis and appraisal.]

While munching on apples with Isabell, I sensed 4 presences approaching towards us 2 were non-hostile and other 2 were hostile chasing after non-hostiles.

It seems like Isabell hasn’t noticed their presence yet or perhaps she’s way too busy munching.

Hey, bell we’re about to get some company.

Isabell nods while munching on apples

I was hoping for non-hostiles to be humans but turns out two goblins were being chased by two quadrupedal monsters which according to player’s encyclopedia they’re called blaze fox.

My expectations were disappointed for what I was hoping for.

But both goblins were all bones and skinny, equipped with tiny wooden club while wearing ragged clothes.

While the blaze foxes, were swift and ferocious.

Out of pity I decided to help goblins.

“Consume!”

[Alert: You have gained stats]

[Alert: You have obtained 2x Red death fox’s tail]

[Alert: You have obtained 5x Red fur]

[Alert: You have obtained 8x Blaze claw]

[Alert: You have obtained skill “Night Vision”]

[Alert: You have obtained skill “Blaze strike”]

[Alert: Your “Heightened sense” has been improved]

And of course, with infinite items active, their quantity was turned into x999 in inventory.

Turning my direction towards goblins the pair was already groveling saying, “Oh supreme demon lords we’re very grateful for your protection, may you forgive us for disrupting you, please help the goblin kind the little ones in our village are suffering from hunger.”

(While using Appraisal mode, received from newly added “Camera menu”). Their stats were extremely low.

I understood that, they would call Isabell a demon lord but why me as well?

But more importantly the goblins seemed to be in sorry state.

I asked goblins if they would show us their village, while Isabell seems to be still munching on the apples.

Isabell replies saying, “Fine.”

While walking I asked the pair for their names, one of them replied saying, “my name is Goraburu, and the short one’s name is Geraburu he’s my younger brother.”

[Upon reaching the goblin village]

All the villager came out at once at the entrance while holding dull and fragile weapons.

Goraburu speaks to his kind saying, “Everyone demon lords are here to help us, please call the village elder.”

The villagers reply saying… “Demon lords?” Crowd shivered

Prostrating before us, the villagers reply saying “Forgive us maou-sama for flashing our weapons.”

Then there comes the village elder saying “Maou-sama, the goblin kind has been suffering from attacks of monsters and other monster races, we and our young ones suffer from insufferable hunger.”

“Please help us the goblin kind beg of you.”

I was again confused by why they keep calling me a demon lord, I mean only one of us is the demon lord here and that’s Isabell.

I asked the village elder, “Excuse me, but why are you calling me a demon lord?”

Elder replies saying… “Maou-sama, you surely jest. You’re releasing such a vast amount of energy with such dark a sinister aura.”

Eh…? What sinister aura?

(I immediately went to “Camera menu” to appraise myself and God! Oh! God! My body was leaking out such an intense and horrific amount of energy, I was not aware of.)

Hey bell, why you didn’t tell me I was leaking out such an immense aura.

“Oh? I thought you were trying to show off how strong you are.” She said while rolling her eyes

(Or perhaps goblins thought I’m the boss?) Said to myself.

I replied to the village elder saying “Yes, we’re here to help you but on one condition.”

Villager elder replies saying… “A condition? But maou-sama we have nothing to offer you.”

I don’t need any offerings; you have to give us a place where we can stay and sleep for the night.

“Oh maou-sama if that’s the case then please use my house. I have a double bed in my room, you can sleep together with your lady my lord.” Said village elder.

Hearing the word sleep together, isabell immediately turned her eyes towards me with a murderous gaze, while at the same time blushing.

But I dragged myself back to reality before my fantasies could start running wild.

I opened the inventory menu, and took out 500x apples and 200x health potions.

After all, with infinite items, my supply of apples is never going to end.

The villagers were astonished and began crying with tears of joy saying, “Maou-sama we’re very grateful to you.”

I asked the elder about his name, about other monster races, what place is this and how often humans come here.

The elder replied saying that his name is Gorobu, and that we’re in the forest of Rogrendria.

Gorobu does not seem to know about how many monster races do exist but he had knowledge about the ones occupying this forest, such as orcs, trolls, beastfolk, lizardfolks, nymphs, including intelligent and wild beasts, each owning their own territories.

Say Gorobu do humans come into this forest?

Gorobu replied saying, “humans are hardly seen in this forest, due to fear of Rogrendria-sama.”

Uh… Rogrendria?

“Yes, maou-sama. Rogrendria is said to be one of the mythic beasts slumbering in this forest, which is why this forest is called forest of Rogrendria.”

So, tell me Gorobu, what are the mythic beasts?

“They’ve never been seen before nor that I know much about them, the previous elder my father told me that the mythic beasts existed long before the creation of any being or kind, they’ve recorded every battle, every part of history, whether they exist or not they’re said to be the strongest and the oldest beings of this world, which is why they’re feared by every intelligent kind.”

I see, so how many of them do exist including Rogrendria?

“If my memory serves me right, my father told me there are around 6 of them.”

I asked Isabell if she knew of this Rogrendria and other mythic beasts, she replies with a nod while munching on apples.

(WAIT SHE’S STILL EATING APPLES!?)
