After placing Carl's dead body into a random bag, Beatrice closed the door to the experimental room, preferring to throw it into the trash later.
Right now, Beatrice sat down on the bed, completely satisfied with her proggres in the past two weeks in regard to the Dark Bolt spell.
Although she had to create a string to control it, and could not do so autonomously, thus wasting some mana and increasing the cost of the spell, Beatrice had already managed to reduce the amount of mana spent in casting it to around 4.6, an extremely large improvement.
Other than this, Beatrice was also satisfied with something else, and as she thought about that, she took out a stone slab before putting it to her forehead, and after a few moments, a number appeared on it.
'14.41'
On average Beatrice's mana pool had increased about 0.1 per day, and a she thought about that, a smile appeared on her face.
"In five or six months I will be considered a High Ranking Mage Apprentice," mumbled Beatrice as her increase in power brought untold joy to her.
Mage apprentices are divided into three levels, namely Lower Apprentices High, Apprentices and Peak Apprentices.
While the boundary between Low and High Apprentices was rather arbitrary, being thirty points of mana, to be considered a Peak Apprentice, one has to reach the maximum limit of mana the human body can bear.
Although this fluctuates between people, it at most varies by a few points, being around 78-82 points of mana.
After thinking about some things for a while, Beatrice looked under her bed before taking out a thick book.
Just looking at the extremely thick physics book in her hand made Beatrice have a headache, but even so, after learning what the reason she had to learn this was, Beatrice began working extremely hard in learning physics.
Other than some extremely rare and esoteric types of magic, the main use of physics for mages is something that Beatrice struggled with a lot, efficiency, and at the same time, it would also help with increasing the speed of her dark bolt.
To understand the reason for this, one must first know one critical part of a spell, the Mana Coefficient, and the Dark Bolt spell in particular, the Mana Coefficient of it's propulsion system.
A mana coefficient is the maximum amount of mana at which the spell still operates efficiently, for example, while the Dark Bolt spell has a coefficient of around 4, and as such, increasing the power of the spell by using more mana is not efficient at all, and sometimes, the spell will even break down if more mana is used.
The reason for the existence of the mana coefficient is very simple, simplification, as increasing the amount of mana that can be used efficiently by the spell is exceedingly difficult for apprentice mages.
For example, the original form of the Dark Bolt spell, the Rank 1 Dark Arrow, has a Mana Coefficient of 15, and as such, is tens of times more complicated than it's Rank 0 counterpart.
Physics can be used as a way for mages to increase the power no their spells without increasing their mana cost.

Looking at the three large trolls that were peacefully sleeping in their tents, Leylin smiled, and at the same time, a small device exited his pocket.
"Your hearing will not save you," thought Leylin before looking at the device in his hands.
After sending a tiny amount of mana into the device, a dozen or so numbers appeared on it, from the atmospheric pressure, wind speed, and humidity, to some other data, like the precise elemental energy level and even the spatial stability of the region.
As soon as that Leylin saw that data, dozens of calculations began taking place in his mind, Leylin did not hurry, he had more than enough time.
Thirty minutes later,
Suddenly, a transparent barrier appeared around Leylin, and in barely a moment, an extremely weird Dark Bolt appeared in front of him.
Different from Beatrice's Dark Bolt, this one seemed extremely weird, some regions of it being flat, while others curved, and at the same time, the weight of the bolt was perfectly balanced, as to maintain as much stability as possible at high speeds.
Suddenly the Dark Bolt was no longer in front of Leylin, as the barrier that was protecting him was suddenly impacted by three sonic booms.
As the Bolt was faster than sound, the Troll's supernatural hearing could not do anything to help them, by the time the final troll suddenly opened his eyes because of the loud sound, as the bolt had to slow down to curve, the attack was already in front of his face.
Merely a moment after the fight began, the three powerful trolls, which could each match Leylin in a straight-up fight, were all dead.
Suddenly, a bunch of extremely loud wolf hows could heard in the distance, with each one of them being much louder than one of a normal wolf.
Only a moment after that, Leylin silently fled the scene, not wanting to fight the wolf pack, even if he could beat them, Leylin's mission clearly stated that he had to kill the three trolls, the wolves were not his concern at all.
Although the speed of the bolt was incredibly fast, three times faster than the speed of sound, Leylin could still do better, one time, to kill a troll warlord, who have extremely sensitive spirits, and who can react to danger above the speed of sound, Leylin spent over half a month creating the perfect dark bolt.
Even though some factors like wind speed, humidity, and other such things have to be calculated extremely fast, and even taken into account while the bolt is already flying, some stable factors that stay the same can be calculated ahead of time.
This is the reason why nobody in their right mind would try to kill a Mage of equal power in their own home or Magic Tower.
After spending years in that environment, and even changing it to his liking, a Mage may become extremely powerful there.
