Chapter 27: Chapter 027: The Ad Shoot

On September 12th, Masashi was walking with Nodoka to the agency. She has her ad shoot today.

"Are you prepared completely? Do you remember all your lines? Are you stressed?"

"I'm fine, mom." Nodoka rools her eyes at Masashi.

"I prefer daddy," Masashi says with a chuckle.

"What?" Nodoka looks at him questioningly, unaware of what he's saying.

"Oh, you sweet innocent child.

"Anyway, I have a message from Mai for you. She asked me to tell you some things."

Nodoka has an excited glint in her eyes but acts cool about it, "I see… What did she say?"

Masashi resists the urge to roll his eyes at her, "She told me that she trusts you and knows that you'll be perfectly fine. Worst case, you fuck up. She can take care of it later. She'll help you with preparations if necessary."

He turns to Nodoka and sees her with clenched fists and teary eyes, "Thank you Onee-chan, for trusting me." She mumbles in such a low voice that Masashi could only hear her due to being close.

They walk the rest of the way in silence and finally reach the agency. The staff respectfully welcomes Masashi in.

The staff guides both of them to the site for the shoot alongside Mai's manager.

Finally, they're at the shooting site.

At the start, Nodoka was really nervous and scared but Masashi gave her another pep talk which helped her get her act together.

The shoot finally ended successfully with a few retakes due to Nodoka being nervous but everything went well.

Masashi dropped her off at Mai's apartment before leaving Mai a text that the shoot was successful.

At night when she returned from her practices the first thing Mai asked Masashi was, "How did she do?"

"If you're that worried then you should just ask her yourself."

"Tell me." Tell me she says with a stoic look on her face.

Masashi smiles a little and says, "She did just fine. There were a few hiccups but everything worked out fine in the end."

"That's good, I expected that there would be a few problems but she'd pull through with a few retakes. I'm proud of her"

"Now all you have to do is put your pride aside and tell her that. The girl realized what a big deal my Mai actually is, and pulled through the issues. Albeit with a few issues. She deserves at least some praise."

"And that's why I'm telling you all this, you can just let her know."

Masashi just sighs and hugs her while saying, "Fine but you gotta face her someday, you know? You're basically running away from your problems all over again."

"I don't want to talk about this anymore. I want food." Mai says in a little muffled voice while her head is buried into Masashi's chest.

"What a spoiled girl," Masashi just rubs Mai's head for a while before continuing, "Are you planning to let me go anytime soon?"

"Nope."

Masashi just picks her up like the little spoiled princess she is and goes over to the couch. Mai just keeps her head buried in his chest.

Masashi sat on the couch with Mai in his lap. She curled up like a kitten as he caressed her head lightly.

"What's stressing you out? Talk to me, baby."

"It's nothing."

Masashi just caresses her hair and sits in silence, knowing that she'll start talking in a bit.

Mai starts speaking into Masashi's chest as she starts talking.

"I love Nodoka, she's my baby sister. Of course, I love her.

"But I'm also jealous of her. She got to live in a complete household with a loving mom and dad.

"Even if her mom used her in a proxy war against my mother, she still loved Nodoka.

"Every day I get texts on her phone from her mother about how her practices are going or something else.

"She even gets texts from her dad, my mother's ex-husband, every once in a while.

"While all I get is a self-absorbed mother who rarely asks me how I'm doing if ever."

Mai starts trembling a bit as she continues.

"The last call I got from her was about asking me to join back with her agency. When I rejected she just cut the call and hasn't called me since. That was two months ago.

"I don't mind it anymore to be really honest. I have you with me, you who always hold my hand, always support me, and always motivate me to try anything.

"I know that even if I mess up or if I fail, I have my pillar to support me through any problems.

"It's just that living as Nodoka, seeing her parents care about her, I feel bitter.

"I could've also had loving parents who cared about me, who loved me unconditionally, but I don't.

"I guess that someone took pity on me and got you to cross my path."

Mai looks up at Masashi with teary eyes and sees him looking at her with a little sad smile and concerned eyes.

She felt the emotions coming from him, concern, love, a bit of melancholy, and an abundance of other emotions, but there was no pity.

She felt the boundless love from him and brought herself closer to his lips and kissed him which he happily reciprocated.

There was no battle for domination in the kiss. They both gently kissed each other and expressed their feelings through it.

Mai brought her tongue into Masashi's mouth and deepened the kiss.

Masashi just followed her pace for a while and continued the make-out.

After a while, he picked her up. She wrapped her legs around him and held his neck with her arms without breaking the kiss.

Masashi walked to the bedroom with a bunny wrapped around him.

After a few hours of fucking, Mai and Masashi are lying on the bed cuddling.

Mai looks at Masashi with a pout and says, "I asked you to make some food for me."

Mai just looks at him with an unimpressed look.

He says, "It's fine, it's not like we need food to survive. Missing a meal or two is not a big deal."

"I still feel like eating though."

"Fine, my spoiled bunny. I'll get you dinner in bed. Is that okay?"

"You're the best. I love you." She gives him a kiss on his lips and pulls back.

They go to sleep after dinner.

The next day is Saturday so Masashi goes over to Mai's apartment to check up on Nodoka and talk to her.

She asked him to not check on the closet in the Tatami room, which made him curious to know what is in it.

"Why don't you do this stuff yourself? Why do you need me to be a middleman?"

Mai just glares at Masashi for a while until he caves in.

"Fine, you and your big-sis-ego the size of the earth. Can't you guys make up already?" Masashi leaves while mumbling the last sentence but Mai still heard him.

Mai has her singing lessons for the idol group's performance and leaves for that.

Masashi rings the intercom for the apartment.

Nodoka asks, "Who is it?"

"It's me, I'm coming up."

"No, don't"

"You don't really have a choice in this matter. I have Mai's spare key."

"Ugh. Fine, I'll open the door."

Masashi goes to her apartment as Nodoka invites him in.

"Well, this place is a mess. What kind of child are you?"

"Why are you here?"

"Apparently, to clean up this dump. Seriously, why are there disposable cup noodles in the sink? Just throw these away."

"Are you just here to criticize me?"

Masashi smirked at her and asks, "Eat anything for breakfast yet?"

"Nothing yet."

"I see, go take a bath and freshen up. I'll make you something."

"Don't peep."

"That's actually a roundabout way of making me want to peep, isn't it?"

"As if, drop dead." She says as she walks off to the bathroom.

Masashi prepares the food and sees that Nodoka is not out yet.

'Let's check out that closet.'

Masashi walks to the Tatami room and opens the closet there. He sees a box in there.

'If this is what I think this is…'

Masashi opens the box.

'Of course, this is what's in the box. God they just need to put aside their egos and makeup.'

Masashi goes back to his apartment after breakfast with Nodoka and cleans up the place which took a good couple of hours.

"I'm home."

"You took your time."

"The place was a mess, I had to cook, clean, and do the laundry."

Masashi says while going to the couch and lying down with his head on her thighs.

Mai caresses his hair and runs her fingers through it.

"Is that all?"

"Nothing much. At this point I just want you both to make up already. Put aside your egos."

"I see. I'll think about it. Did you listen to me and not open the closet in the Tatami room?"

"What do you think?" Masashi turns his head toward her and smirks at her.

"You, you, you didn't listen to me." Mai stutters and speaks.

"What were you expecting? You told me to not look at a specific thing. Of course, I was going to look at it. It's not a big deal, to be honest. It's actually endearing."

Mai just sighs in defeat and continues playing with his hair.

"Mhm, this feels good. Coming home to my wife after a hard day's work is the best."

"Don't call me your wife, we're not married."

"Yet. At this point, it's just a matter of when and not if."

Mai doesn't reply and they just continue to enjoy each other's presence in silence.

After a while Mai says, "Oh yeah, I got you and Nodoka the tickets for the concert. Come and watch the concert together. I've sent one to Nodoka's mother as well."

"I see." Masashi just rests on her thighs and softly acknowledges.

They spend the rest of the day together with Mai doing some practice with Masashi for the concert.

The next day Masashi handed the tickets to Nodoka.
