IN THE BALLROOM, SOMEWHERE AMONG THE GUESTS.
“Oh my, did you see that? Lord Phames actually kissed her on the hand!”
Lady Fiora of House Merewind exclaimed in astonishment, while surrounded by a group of other noble ladies.
"How could that commoner's daughter simply stand there while he did that? She ought to be on her knees, showing gratitude for such an opportunity."
Lady Justina of House Quickfire remarked, her tone dripping with disdain and disgust.
“It appears this commoner’s daughter, needs to be taught her place.”
Lady Annelore of House Merewind added, glaring at Cyra with a malicious expression.
“I heard from my mother that when a nobleman gets close to a commoner woman, he becomes bewitched. They supposedly sprinkle love potions on their clothing, so that when the nobleman inhales it, he falls in love with them.”
Lady Thessaly of House Starfrost said.
“I heard the same from my elder sister. She said her husband was also bewitched by a Western commoner woman’s potion. I bet that’s what their commoner mother, used to charm the noble, viscount. my heart aches for the viscountess, she must have been heartbroken watching her beloved husband be bewitched by that commoner slut. And now her slut daughter is trying to bewitch Lord Phames too.”
Lady Justina said.
“Humph... let her try. Have you all forgotten who Lord Phames is betrothed to?”
Lady Fiora reminded the ladies. Their eyes met, and a sinister smile crept across their faces.
“We all know what happened to the noble ladies who tried to get close to Lord Phames... Just imagine what she would do to the daughter of a commoner, once this news reaches her ears."
Fiora said, covering her mouth with her exquisite, blue-colored hand fan, hiding her malicious grin.

BACK TO CYRA, LILY AND PHAMES.
“In the Giggadon Empire, four Great noble houses served as pillars, supporting the imperial family for centuries. Their names are House Winterwin, House Clayledge, House Blackport, and House Rainbridge. Each with the given title of Duke, the highest rank of nobility under the imperial family. They also serve as protectors of the empire’s northern, southern, eastern, and western territories and borders. But they are renowned not only for their esteemed titles but also for their immense wealth and formidable military prowess… And the man standing in front of me bears the characteristic insignia of one of those houses- House Winterwin.”
Cyra thought in her mind while staring at the golden-plated insignia featuring a giant white polar bear sigil that adorned Phames' chest.
“My name is Cyra Branigan. It is an honor to make your acquaintance, my Lord.”
Cyra greeted him with a respectful tone, curtsying gracefully.
`"May I also inquire about the name of the lady standing behind you?"
Phames asked with a polite and gentle tone and a warm smile, turning his attention to Lily, who hid behind Cyra.
“Oh my, oh my… the handsome lord is asking for my name. W-w-what should I say?”
Lily panicked internally, her cheeks turning crimson.
“Lily?... why aren’t you greeting the lord?”
Cyra turned her head slightly toward Lily and whispered.
“It’s just… it’s just…”
Lily stammered her words.
“…Wait, don't tell me you've forgotten the courtesies we learned? You said, learning it was the easiest thing in the world. Hahh… I knew I shouldn’t have believed you,”
Cyra said, sighing in disbelief.
“No! it’s not that. It’s just that... every time I look at his face, my legs become wobbly, and my heart starts to beat really fast. Sister!... do you think I’m sick?”
Lily asked with a worried and panicked expression.
“What?!... Why didn’t you tell me you were feeling ill? Let’s leave now for the clinic.”
Cyra said with a concerned tone after turning her entire body towards Lily and touching her forehead with the back of her palm.
“Hmm… your temperature seems normal, so where does it hurt?”
Cyra asked.
“Well… Anytime I look at his face, my heart starts to act up. It goes Thump-Thump… Thump-Thump. Like that.”
Lily explained with strange sound effects.
“Huh?... what is she talking about—”
“PFFT- HAHAHAHAHA”
Phames burst into sudden laughter, which reverberated throughout the hall, interrupting Cyra's thoughts.

MEANWHILE, IN MISTY PEAK COLOSSEUM-ARENA
Loud, rhythmic sounds of objects slashing through the air, followed by resounding thuds, filled the atmosphere, as three hundred young boys and girls, meticulously arranged in four long lines, each with a hundred individuals, swung their wooden swords, continuously at practice dummies in front of them, while being drenched in their own sweat and fatigued.
*SLASH*
*SLASH*
*THUD*
*THUD*
“DON’T SLOW DOWN YOU WEAK SHITS! SLASH THOSE DUMMIES UNTIL YOU SPLIT IT IN HALF! THE FIRST FIVE TO GET THAT DONE, WILL BE REWARDED WITH BETTER MEALS FOR DINNER, AND THE LAST FIVE… WELL, BE PREPARED TO FILL YOUR STOMACHS WITH GRASS. COME ON! SLASH! SLASH!”
Gunter bellowed, his commanding tone echoing through the arena as he patrolled between the four lines, with the air of an instructor around him, watching for promising talents.
“What?!!... Huff… How does he expect us to split the doll with wooden swords? That’s impossible!... But, if I don’t, I will starve tonight.”
Walda thought in his mind after hearing Gunter’s words. He could tell from his bruised and trembling hands that he did not have the strength or energy to split the doll even if he wanted to. But he knew he had to do it, as he never wanted to experience starving again like he did, before coming to the mountain. So, he resolved himself, tightened his grip around his wooden sword, and slashed away at the practice doll with everything he had.
*GRIP*
*WHOOSH*
*THUD*
“Hehehe, look at the desperate look on their faces—”
Gunter chuckled inwardly, finding amusement in their desperation to avoid being among the bottom five.
*SLICE! *
*THUD! *
Then, a loud sound resounded in the arena as an object fell to the ground, capturing everyone's attention.
“Huff… Huff…”
Standing there was a light brown-haired kid with silver-colored eyes, drenched in his own cold sweat, breathing heavily, as air escaped his lips in ragged puffs. The top half of his practice doll lay at his feet. Then he turned his gaze to Gunter.
“Hoho… look at the look, in the little shit’s eyes. I knew he had talent, but this is surprising. They have been training since morning and should be exhausted. He shouldn’t even have the stamina and strength to cut the dummy, but he still did it, something even ‘Star Knights’ would find difficult to do. I thought being an instructor would be boring as shit, but this might not be so bad.”
Gunter thought in his mind while having a proud grin on his face.
“Huff... Huff... How did he manage to cut the dummy so quickly? We've been training all day and are already exhausted, yet he's still so strong! Damn it, I won't lose to you, Silver!”
Walda thought in his mind, filled with determination and a sense of rivalry, which gave him the strength to continue slashing at the doll.

COLOSSEUM SEATING TIERS. (Where spectators sit in a colosseum.)
“Hmm… the kids have grown stronger since the last time I saw them, and I can see some promising talents with high, medium, and low aptitude for cultivation among them. But they are still not strong enough to meet my expectations. I guess it's about time I did that… As the saying goes, ‘pressure makes diamonds,’ and if they cannot withstand the pressure, they are worthless.”
Helena said, with an emotionless expression as she watched the training from the colosseum’s seating tiers.
*RUMBLE*
“...”

Helena flinched as she picked up a slight vibration in the distance, coming from the Misty Peak Royal Palace.
“What’s happening over there?”
Helena questioned, spreading her divine consciousness toward the royal palace.
[Cough… Cough, Lord Blaze, it seems like it’s a hidden chamber…]
[It’s too dark to see anything… *GLOW*... Wow, what are these strange drawings on the walls?... it’s like some kind of record.]
“A hidden chamber, huh?... I have been curious about how and why this city was built, and now it seems I might find the answers, on what’s written on those walls.”
Helena thought in her mind, intrigued by the news. She stood up from her seat and vanished on the spot.
*VROOM*
—-----------------------------------------------------------------------
-IN THE SECRET CHAMBER.
“Sir Blaze, do you think we can find out the reason this city was abandoned from these drawings on the walls?... I mean, if they spent the time and resources to build a city like this, there must be a reason they abandoned it.”
one of the guild members asked, studying the images on the walls with curiosity.
“...”
But Blaze did not reply, as his attention was focused on one of the images on the walls.
“Tch, I doubt anything important is written on this wall.”
another guild member said in a dismissive tone.
“No. 13? What do you mean?”
“No. 15. What use do drawings of people who died a long time ago have? I thought we would discover some gold, treasures, or some ancient magic weapon after finding this secret chamber. But instead, all we found are these useless drawings…”
No. 13 said in an annoyed tone.
“... even if we found some treasure, is not like you would get any.”
No. 15 replied.
“Tch, ever since that new guild master arrived, we haven’t accepted any killing contracts, because she wants us to repair this rundown abandoned city. I joined this guild to be an assassin, to kill and make money, yet here I am, toiling away in construction and following a woman's orders.”
No. 13 whispered to himself in anger, with an annoyed expression.
“I also have no need for trash that questions my authority.”
Helena said as she appeared behind No. 13, making her presence known.
*WHOOSH*
“!!!”
Surprised by the sudden voice, Blaze and No. 15 flinched as they backed away quickly toward the exit of the secret chamber.
*SWISH*
“How could someone stand behind me, and I couldn’t sense their presence?”
Blaze wondered, panic coursing through him as he scanned the surroundings.
*SWISH*
“Huh?!!... why can’t I mo–”
No. 13’s thought was interrupted as he was reduced to small, cubical fragments, his blood, and entrails splattering across the chamber floor.
*FWOOSH*
*SLASH*
*SPLURT*
*SQUEECH*
“...!!?”
Blaze and No.15 stared at Helena with terror-stricken expressions, after witnessing No.13’s gruesome death.
*THUD*
*SQULECH*
Helena stepped on No. 13’s remains as she walked forward in front of the walls and stared at the drawings on it.
“Greetings, Guild Master!”
Blaze and No. 15 greeted respectfully and fearfully, sinking to one knee with bowed heads and beads of cold sweat on their brows.
“Hmm… what strange words. I've studied the languages of various empires and kingdoms across this continent, including those of the elves. However, this is my first encounter with symbols in sequences like these, although they do possess a strange familiarity.”
Helena thought in her mind as she studied the hieroglyphics on the walls, ignoring the two people behind her.
***********************************************
THREE MINUTES LATER.
“Get a couple of men here that can write, to copy all the contents of these walls onto paper, without any mistake. And get rid of the filth.”
Helena commanded with a cold tone, as she glanced at the remains of No. 13 with an annoyed gaze before walking out of the secret chamber.
“Yes, Guild Master.”
Blaze replied in a respectful tone, accepting the order.

In the shroud of night, a figure cloaked in darkness and a hood. lightly knocked on a door.

*CREAK*
“Yawn… who are you, and what could possibly bring you here at this time of night?”
Ralphye asked, with sleepy eyes and an annoyed expression after seeing the hooded figure standing outside his doorway.
“I am here to meet the undying serpent.”
The hooded figure replied.
“...”
Hearing those words, Ralphye’s expression cleared up immediately. He activated his mana sense, to see if anyone had followed his guest, but he sensed no other presence than his and the hooded figure.
“Please come in, I have been awaiting your arrival… Your Highness.”
Ralphye said in a respectful tone, inviting the hooded figure inside.
