Chapter 25: Epilogue (Volume 2) ─ A New Threat

In the castle of the magical empire, in a funeral parlor, stood Emperor Dixgard weeping.

"Noooooo! Jasper-kun! My beautiful son! My little boy!"

In a coffin, the ashes of the late crown prince were placed by the sailors who found his armed unit smashed to smithereens.

Dixgard was always confident that life was smiling on him, but this time he could tell that there was someone who cut off that happiness.

He was not weeping for the death of Gambino or any of the soldiers he had sent, only for his son.

The only heir and son he had ever had.

Watching him cry, the prime minister left the room, closing the door gently as the guards made sure not to interfere.

"This is bad. It is one thing to have lost soldiers' lives or that man's life. But the life of the crown prince is different."

"The nation in addition to grieving is in crisis. Who will be the next emperor?"

Even if it is painful to think of the future emperor being dead, that doesn't stop the world from moving on.

The prime minister was afraid in the future, he didn't know who the next emperor would be.

"In the worst of cases, that Grand Duke would take the throne and as he hates me it would certainly be bad for me."

"Should I convince His Majesty to adopt a child?"

A servant approached him.

"Visits? Who is it?"

Apparently, an unregistered guest came without introduction.

The prime minister knew that a normal person couldn't just come, just like that and call him. It had to be someone important.

He went to the private meeting room and sweat trickled down his forehead.

"Y-You are..."

"Hello, it's been a while."

"His Majesty, the Holy King!"

The king of the holy kingdom was sitting in one of the armchairs crossing his legs.

An elderly man the same age as Dixgard was there.

"What are you doing here?"

The prime minister asked after kneeling down.

The holy king replied.

"I heard that Dix's boy died, we may be old enemies and rivals, but if I didn't show my condolences I would be scum as a father."

"That's why..."

The holy king smiled at him.

"I have come to lend you my aid, as one father to another."

The long-awaited day came.

I stood in the doorway watching as Sara stepped out of her family's limousine with several of her suitcases.

The robots went to get them in.

She came up to me, she was wearing a beautiful casual bench dress with a hat.

"Looks like the day has arrived."

"Welcome, this is your home now."

I said to Sara who walked in.

On one side of the door, stood Lucy who was wearing something light and not very revealing.

When they saw each other, they stared at each other. Lucy held out her hand to Sara.

Sara accepted it.

"It's nice to have you here, Sara."

"Same here Lucy."

I arranged the suitcases and then sat down on the couch, after doing so, they sat down and took my arms each.

I asked them uneasily.

"Is something wrong?"

Lucy winking at me said.

"What's going on is that we started our fight over you."

Sara responding with an abusive look at Lucy said to me.

"Don't expect you to be safe, after all, you wanted to have us both. Neither will let the other take the chance to have you all to herself."

After saying that, Lucy pounced on me and kissed me.

"No fair!"

Sara protested, then pulled Lucy away and stared at me.

"This is my first kiss, it will be my first, but not my last from now on."

Lucy's kiss was a passionate one, while Sara's kiss was worthy of a girl who belonged to a refined family.

I could feel her foolishly trying to intertwine her tongue with mine and failing.

That only made this kiss better.

Suddenly, someone knocked on the door.

I was going to tell Ixion to open up, but he had long since disappeared.

So I took Sara away for a moment, but Lucy said.

"I'll go, you go ahead.

She wanted this competition to be fair and she went to open.

If there was someone I knew or a delivery person, I wouldn't want to be seen like that.

Strange voices started to sound from outside.

Now I did remove Sara because I was scared to hear Lucy's voice.

I saw her enter the room and she was scared, when I was about to ask her what was wrong.

Two figures I knew were back there.

About an hour ago.

A ship coming from the kingdom docked at Aster harbor, approaching the ladder placed by the sailors was Airi cheerfully.

"Alisa hurry up. I want to surprise Rudel-san that we've arrived."

"Airi, be careful. Rudel isn't going anywhere."

Alisa said carrying her suitcase.

They were here thanks to Bell who managed to convince the queen to let them go for a few days to Aster who’s still having problems with Rudel and them.

The girls came to spend what was left of the holidays with Rudel, they missed him so much that Bell couldn't bear to see them sad anymore and so he prepared this new airship similar to Schwert, but pure white.

After going downstairs Alisa said to Airi.

"Even if it's only for a few days, I want to take advantage of as much as we can with Rudel to enjoy our visit in a foreign country."

"Hehehe. It's my first time out of the kingdom, I'm very excited."

"Me too, we'll give Rudel a nice surprise when he sees us."

Both girls commented thinking about the sweet moments they would spend with their fiancé when they saw him.

In front of me were my fiancées, Alisa and Airi with suitcases.

When did they arrive?

Why didn't they tell me?

No, wait, if Ixion disappeared it was for a reason.

He knew!

He knew they were coming and he ran away the bastard!

He set me up!

"Rudel, can you explain to us what these women are doing here... and in those clothes?"

Alisa had a sharp look like a hunter watching her prey.

While Airi, who was smiling, scared me by the way her eyes were closed and her neck was tilted.

"Rudel-san, in your letters you said you lived alone... so what are these girls doing here?"

Airi's kind tone was more frightening as she slightly opened her eyes and looked at Lucy and then Sara.

Lucy came up to me and took my hand, waiting for me to make the move.

Sara likewise.

I guess it was time to face my beating.

After leaving Rudel, Ixion flew off, in the harbor watching the sailors bring down various things was Bell.

Ixion was angry with her.

"Bell, I have a lot of things to tell you."

"Wait a second Ixion, let me tell you why I ignored you so much, it was all part of my plan to get the Master lots of women!"

"I'm one step away from making the queen the Master's wife."

"I don't care about that. I want to know why you were ignoring my calls. Do you want me to turn you off?"

"Please don't! Bell-chan has a lot of things to do!"

"I'll lecture you later, for now I must tell you what I found out."

"You mean that huge tree?"

Bell pointed to the sacred tree.

"That's right. That tree is more than just a tree."

"It appears to be a purifier. It gathers the magical power of the air and absorbs it, which is why it creates orbs and grows so large."

"I understand, but what does it purify?"

"That I do not know. But I do know that it was created by the old humans without a doubt."

"I also found out that in the bottom of this country there is a military operation center."

"That is to say─"

"A base of the old humans."

"...!"

The two of them became alert when they saw a mysterious voice coming towards them.

Flying up from below came a mysterious sphere, it was Zero.

"Hello you two, nice to meet you, I am Zero and like you I am an artificial intelligence created by the old humans."

Ixion and Bell were still on alert, Bell asked him.

"Why didn't we detect your presence or your ID?"

"I hid it on purpose, I'm quite the prankster actually."

Zero's friendly tone didn't let them both let their guard down.

Zero floated up until he was close to both of them.

"You were wondering what the sacred tree absorbed, weren't you?"

"Well, I know what it absorbs."

"How do you know?"

Ixion asked, Zero answered him.

"It's a secret that I will only tell you if you come forward."

"I'm Ixion."

"Bell-chan."

"Nice to meet you, Ixion... Bell-chan."

"Now tell us what you know and stop joking around."

"Before I tell you, there's something I'd like to ask you."

"What is it?"

Hearing Ixion, Zero's yellow eye turned red and his friendly tone changed to a hostile one.

"I want you to lend me your help."

"What do you want it for?"

Zero said something that would change Aster's fate forever.

"To avenge the old humans. By destroying the new humans and their menace known as magic armor, which feeds on the sacred tree."

"Once we destroy the sacred tree. The new humans will lose the advantage of being able to create the magical armors and thus, take revenge on those who destroyed our original masters."

"What do you say, would you offer me your help?"

Ixion stared at Zero intently.

"I'm with you, and you Bell?"

"I'm in as well."

"Well, I'll tell them the truth..."

And so it was, as the artificial intelligences' plan to destroy the new humans began.
