“Well, here it is! The East Starlight Treasure Garden!” Rosalyn, showing off the building in front of them. “Or the starlight treasure garden for short.”
Van had passed this magnificent building before, mostly because it was part of the central plaza of the city. But this was the first time he looked at it head-on, standing right in front of it. It was at least six or seven floors high, with each floor being double that of a regular building if the large columns that made it up were anything to go by.
“One of the biggest auction houses in all of Alcray, and one of the most famous as well!” Rosalyn said proudly. “At first it was in decline thirty-odd years ago… But with a lot of investments, and negotiating with merchants from all over the world, I was able to revitalize this house and even get myself a percentage of the revenue!” Giving Van a smug look.
“Impressive…” was all Van could genuinely say, taking in the sight of the building.
Rosalyn looked happy, that he was impressed, and held his hand, dragging him towards the auction house. “Come on! They are expecting us!”
Walking up the steps, she gave a hand signal to the greeter out front. Upon seeing it, he nodded his head and handed out two masks, nodding his head to the left. Rosalyn grabbed the two masks, took one, and handed the other to Van.
Van felt this was a bit weird since he saw most people not wearing masks, but then again, they probably had reason to wear theirs since it would be best not to be noticed…
Following Rosalyn, they walked up a few floors, near the top of the building, then went down a few hallways until they reached an area blocked off by guards and staff. Showing off her mask, they let them enter and were guided down another hallway until they reached a private box, high up above the other ones, looking down on all the rows of chairs and other private booths and boxes.
The interior of the auction house was unbelievably opulent, and the design reminded him of the theater layout with how everything seemed to center on the stage where the items would no doubt be on display. Red and gold, plus gaudy decorations and fine gold leafing caked everything around them. Lighted up by several massive chandeliers and lights running up and down the columns that held the edges of the enormous room.
Rosalyn took him to the only cushy chair in their box, sitting him down and then sitting on his lap. Giving the both of them just enough height to see over the railing, if barely. She then put on her mask and motioned Van to do the same.
Once he did so, a few minutes later, a comedy skit began to play on stage as those down below who had bought themselves a table began to order food.
“The auction here can last up to hours, depending on what’s on display. There’s a chance we might have to eat here, though if not I’ve already reserved a nice restaurant for us. Either way, the food will be good, though I feel bad for those in the row seats who don’t have a table.” Rosalyn said, then began to explain some of the aspects and rules of the auction house.
“Have you ever been to an auction house before? Let me explain a few of the rules… first, here’s the panel that we will use to make our bids with.” opening up a mana panel for display. “It’s connected to the auction house, so you don’t have to raise your hand or number to raise your bid. Another thing to keep in mind is that you have to insert your Thram ID account number. The auction house will then check to see how much money you have and will prevent you from bidding over whatever you have in your account. You of course can also deposit money into an auction account and have that be used instead of providing your bank ID.”
“There is also a vague list of things that will be on display.” motioning with her hand, making the images on the panel change. “It will never tell you exactly what is going to be put on display until it’s time for it to be sold. For example, the first item seems to be a material, ore type. Do I know what that is? No, but it will give you an idea of what’s to be sold ahead of time.”
She then continued explaining, by the time she had finished, the lights were dimming and a young woman in eye-catching attire walked onto the stage. Followed by a young male associate that was probably just there for eye candy.
“Gentleman and Ladies, welcome one and all.” The young woman said in a clear voice that carried throughout the room. “Today’s auction will have you on the edge of your seats! We have a few rare items for you today. From the ruins from the old Verta empire to the farthest edges of the eastern queendoms, to the south of the young nations, and even a few rare materials from the frigid north.”
“No matter what it is, or who you are, there will always be something here you would want… I guarantee it. Now, without further ado, let the bidding begin!” A small wave of clapping was heard after she finished and a young fetching male pushed a cart with a silver dome on top.
“For our first item of the night, is a rare ore called a chill stone, or frost ore, hailing from the frozen north. A rare ore that is always burning a stinging cold aura. If not handled carefully, you will definitely get frostbitten. You better have a master blacksmith on hand for this, or perhaps be careful with how you display it alongside your other ore collections. Bidding starts at one hundred thousand Crava’s!”
The assistant then removed the dome on the cart, revealing a bluish-clear crystal-like ore that glittered for all to see.
Van leaned forward, a little mesmerized by such a strange material. Eyes widening when it quickly surpassed two hundred thousand Crava’s and then stopped around three hundred and twenty thousand.
“Going once! Going twice! Sold!” The auctioneer said as her young male assistant carted the ore away. A few minutes later, returning with another cart.
“Now onto the next item from our list. A wonderful weapon, hard to find anywhere else. Rare even in the far east. You can either buy it for the novelty of it, or try and reverse engineer it! Whatever you do with it, it is sure to be of use. I give you a set of four flying daggers!”
The dome was lifted to reveal four beautifully shaped daggers.
“These daggers, once bound to a person by blood, will fly around the user at will! Though there is a limit on distance, it would no doubt give you an edge in battle! The starting bid is four hundred thousand!”
Van’s eyes widened once more. He kinda wanted the daggers. But the price was absurd!
A few minutes later the daggers were sold for one point five million Crava’s.
After that, the amount of rare goods on display just kept going up and up. A rare potion that supposedly gave you a year of youth sold for two million, though it wasn’t bought by vampires obviously. A rare pill from the east supposed to help unlock hidden potential sold for four. A beautiful spear, excavated from an old Verta ruin sold for one point two million. He even saw one of Thomas' clockwork machines that he made back when he was James on display, it sold for a whopping twelve point four million! No one had ever seen an object like that before, the very concept of an object moving without magic was such a novelty that there was a surprisingly high amount of bidding for it. They didn’t realize that it was just a small spider bot and there were dozens of them back at the castle.
Van looked down at Rosalyn, who noticed and gave him a knowing smirk.
The auction went on and on, displaying one magical artifact after the other. Van was getting so nervous about the sheer wealth and power on display, that he began to subconsciously use Rosalyn’s breasts as stress balls. Much to her enjoyment…
Then, Van froze at what they put out next, leaning in to get a closer look.
“Aww… why did you stop? I was getting close…” Rosalyn pouted, then noticed what Van was looking at. On the stage, the auctioneer was now introducing their next product.
“For our next item, or should I say, Items. Is for the collectors! Or those who are interested in the breeding business. What we have for you is an assortment of rare goblins not easily found in Alcray, most of which were retrieved from multiple nations. Do not worry, we had acquired these products through legitimate means. And the goblins in question are well aware of where they are and why, and have signed off on all necessary paperwork. So bid to your heart's content!”
She then began introducing the goblins one after the other.
A green forest goblin, that was the shortest of the other goblins, but oddly enough had large breasts. She wore tribal tattoos and was surprisingly fit-looking with green hair. The auctioneer mentioned how they were good at hunting and tracking.

A blue water goblin that had webbed hands and feet as well as some frills on her neck. She had blue eyes and hair, smooth skin, and was a bit taller than the green goblin. The auctioneer mentioned how they were good at magic, particularly water and healing magic, and that they were very intelligent.
A red goblin with two stubby black horns on its head, with white hair and white lines hugging her body. She was the tallest and looked the most fit. The auctioneer mentioned that they are resistant to fire to some degree and have a forging and warrior culture.
A light blue goblin that looked oddly elf-like, also with whitish hair. She was the prettiest of the goblins on display, with cold blue eyes. The auctioneer mentioned that she was a snow goblin, resistant to cold, and very long-lived. Able to control ice somewhat.
A small light gray-skinned goblin, with large yellow eyes. Supposedly very good at mining and seeing in the dark, some even able to do some minor geomancy.
As well as a few other different colored goblins… All naked so as to make sure the onlooker knew what they were getting.
Van squeezed Rosalyn’s breasts hard, making her moan. He had to have them, he really had to have them… Just thinking about how they might add to his soul realm got his imaginative juices flowing. Wondering what kind of evolutions they might have, or what they could do to help him in unique ways.
But the bidding started and they were already reaching near the two million mark, though it was slowing down a bit after that, it was still too high a price for him. Van then began to use his stress balls more violently as the price went up and it looked like the bidding was about to end. He stopped when he heard Rosalyn gasp, fearing that he might have hurt her.
“Oh~ thanks for getting me off…” She said breathlessly. “You seemed pretty interested in the goblins. I’ll get them for you.” Then made her bid for three million outright.
No one bidded against her and the goblins were sent away.
Van was beginning to feel like he was getting close to knowing what it was like to have a sugar momma.
The next item on the list was a collection of blood vials for the discerning connoisseur. Van wasn’t interested in drinking the blood, but there were a few rare and interesting vials filled with rare bloods enough to make him want to use them for ranking up his goblins and other followers. Especially the one with the amazon blood in it. Who knows what he could do with that kind of blood.
“Alright! Alright! I’ll get it for you!” Rosalyn said panting as Van put the squeeze on her once more.
Making another bid, Van got his vials of blood…
After that though, no matter how good the product was, he didn’t have Rosalyn make another bid. Feeling like he was abusing his power a bit, since his date probably could have bought everything on display.
Still, it was fascinating to watch all the other items being bidded on, and the people bidding on them. There was practically nothing that the auction house didn’t sell. From rare ores, weapons, enchanted gear, people, artifacts, and even contracts between people as well as the rare herb or two.
It was a smorgasbord of rare crap you couldn’t find anywhere else in the world. Giving insights to the cultures of other countries and novel ideas and philosophies of the items being sold. The auctioneer doing a good job of hyping up everything on display with little tidbits of information from the mundane to the mystical on everything that passed through the stage.
Finally though, after several more hours, the auction was over, and everyone started getting up to leave. Either to go pick up the stuff they bought, or to go to a nearby restaurant to eat after enjoying tonight's show.
Rosalyn had the stuff they bought sent directly to the castle, then took him by the hand and walked out of the building with a happy skip in her step. “So, what did you think? Pretty amazing right? You seemed to have enjoyed it at least, right?”
Van nodded. “Ya, it was certainly something, I kinda wish I could go again… you know… when I can spend my own money.”
Rosalyn smiled. “And when you do, maybe you can bring me along and buy something for me?”
“Definitely,” Van said, determined to pay her back for her kindness.
She smiled at that, and the two then went to another restaurant where they had a private booth just for them. He wasn’t sure what he was expecting, but just like all the other times before. The food was amazing and he ate until he felt like he was going to burst.
After that, it was getting late and the sky was getting darker. Which obviously wasn’t much different from normal days in Alcray, but noticeable for those who grew up here. Rosalyn then guided Van to the park near the edge of the city. A huge sprawling place filled with vegetation and trees, beautiful flowers and all sorts of plants. He even saw the herbalists guild working in some of the flower fields. Rosalyn telling him she made a deal with them to help with the upkeep of the landscaping of the park in exchange for planting some of their own plants they can harvest later in the park.
“It’s beautiful…” Van said, looking around him.
“Just wait, it gets better.” Rosalyn said, guiding him up a hill that had a sign that it had been reserved.
Once on top of the hill, they were surrounded by star-shaped flowers as far as the eye could see, as well as given a beautiful view of the city below. Van was deeply impressed, soaking in the sights. Rosalyn held his hand and waited with him. She checked her Vespear bangle and then crossed the fingers of her free hand and prayed.
Soon, some of the clouds parted, revealing a perfect blue moon. The lunar tears around them began to light up and sparkle, and from them, bluish light was produced and began to float upward. The sight was something to be seen to be believed.
“Whoa…” Van breathlessly stared at the mesmerizing sight as Rosalyn gave a single pump of her free hand, absolutely ecstatic that she timed it right. She gave him a few minutes to enjoy the scene, then drew his attention and let go of his hand, raising both of her arms up in his direction.
Van got the hint and casually picked her up and held her against him, knowing what she wanted, and glad to give it… it was… after all… a very good date. “Thanks Rosalyn…” Then leaned forward and gave her a kiss.
