Aoi and Yanagi headed to school together as usual. The weather was already getting warmer though it was still too cold to not use their scarves. They had also been stopping by a croquette shop they found to hold something warm in their hands until they reached school.

"In the end, we didn't get to finish the game yesterday," Aoi regretfully said.

"The boss battle is hard as expected," Yanagi also felt that it was a pity. "But I'll definitely defeat it today."

"You hang out in my house until dinner every day, is aunty and uncle okay with that?" Aoi asked and took a bite of his croquette.

"They're grateful for it," Yanagi reassured. "They sometimes feel guilty for not being in the house often."

Aoi swallowed his food, "How long does it take from your place to mine actually?"

"Not 20 minutes by car," Yanagi roughly calculated.

"Oh," Aoi realized something, "you get picked up by your driver?"

Yanagi hesitated for a second before giving a small nod, "He also drives me to your house every morning. Usually, he waits outside the neighbourhood and we meet on the main road."

"Why on the main road?" Aoi thought it was strange.

"...Before this, when everyone in my school found out that my family...has more money than average, they kind of…" Yanagi trailed off uncomfortably.

"Ahh…" Aoi could more or less guess.

"It's not that I think you'll be like them. I guess it's my subconscious habit," Yanagi hurriedly added. "Rather, I'd be happy to buy you anything!"

Aoi laughed, "What are you saying when your source of income is still your parents?"

Yanagi scratched his neck in embarrassment. Should he find a part-time job to do?

The two of them soon reached their school and greeted the teacher by the gate. They separated at Yanagi's classroom and Aoi went to his own.

"Good morning, Kashiwagi-kun."

Aoi hung his bag on the side of his desk and turned to see it was Keiko.

"Good morning, Class Rep," he returned the greeting before sitting down and taking off his scarf.

"Um...would you like some cookies?" Keiko offered a small pack of it.

"?"

Aoi looked at the bag of cookies, a little confused by the sudden offer. He then saw that the others had cookies in their hands as well and guessed that Keiko was probably sharing them with the whole classroom.

He took one, "Thanks. What's the occasion?"

"N-nothing! I just baked too much in my baking lesson yesterday!" Keiko nervously laughed.

Aoi took a bite and thought it wasn't that bad. The dark chocolate was a bit too bitter for his liking though.

"How is it? Is it good?" Keiko fidgeted.

"It's pretty good," Aoi finished it in the next bite.

Keiko brightened and put the whole pack on Aoi's table, "Th-then, you can have these!"

"Eh? I didn't-"

Bang!

The whole classroom was startled and immediately turned towards the noise. They were stunned to see a petrified tall person at the door.

Yanagi's expression fell when he saw Keiko and the bag of cookies on Aoi's table. He held himself back all he could as he trudged into Aoi's table.

"Aoi…" he gloomily called out.

Aoi frowned, "What's wrong with you?"

"I'm sorry. I'm a failure."

"???"

Seeing Yanagi's sudden depressed state, Aoi was clueless about what happened and what to do. He excused himself from Keiko and got up to bring Yanagi out. They went to talk at the end of the hallway.

"What happened? Who called you a failure?"

"I'm a failure, Aoi. How could I forget such an important date for couples?" Yanagi buried his face in his palms.

"Huh?"

"Today is Valentine's Day and I didn't prepare anything…"

Aoi, "..."

He took out his phone to see the date and found that it was indeed as Yanagi said. Looking around the hallway, he now noticed the sappy atmosphere around them. The boys were giddy and expectant while the girls were nervous and looking somewhat secretive.

"...I didn't remember either," he looked back at Yanagi and sighed. "Don't worry too much about something like this. It's not like it's a special date to us or anything. I don't see the necessity of celebrating Valentine's Day."

Yanagi lowered his hands, looking at Aoi anxiously, "You're not mad?"

"Why would I be mad about something like this?" Aoi ruffled Yanagi's hair. "We don't have to celebrate every little thing just because other people do. It's more important to celebrate what's actually significant to us."

Yanagi thought Aoi was right and could finally put his heart at rest. Seeing him relaxed, Aoi was ready to go back to class when Yanagi suddenly grabbed his shoulders, slightly startling him.

"How many?" Yanagi muttered.

"How many, what…?" Aoi was doubtful.

Sometimes, he couldn't catch up with Yanagi's change of mood…

"How many did you eat?" Yanagi stared at Aoi's mouth closely. "Your Class Rep's cookies?"

"Just one," Aoi reassured. "I didn't know she meant it like that."

Yanagi grabbed his wrist and dragged him to head down the stairs, bringing him to the vending machine on the first floor next to the staircase. He bought a can of orange juice and opened it before silently giving it to him.

Aoi took it though he was a bit confused about what Yanagi was trying to do, "Uh...thanks?"

Yanagi opened it before giving it to him, so he must want him to immediately drink it. He drank a few gulps and looked at Yanagi in question.

"Is it still there?" Yanagi asked.

Aoi blinked, "What is?"

"The taste."

It took a few seconds for Aoi to finally realize what Yanagi was trying to do. His heart was immediately struck and he quickly covered his mouth tremblingly. It took him everything to hold down his lips and not let out his laughter.

He calmed himself down and lowered his hand, exposing his mischievous smile, "Hmm...I'm not sure?"

"Would something sweet be more effective?" Yanagi looked at the available drinks. "Like Milk Tea?"

"Rather than that, I know something more potent," Aoi swiftly finished the orange juice and pushed Yanagi under the stairs.

Yanagi, "?"

He saw Aoi grin and yanked him down by his tie to kiss him. He blanked out for a few seconds when Aoi slipped his tongue into his mouth.

His mind exploded.

Aoi broke away with a chuckle. He was about to tease Yanagi when the back of his neck was suddenly caught and their lips reunited again.

Yanagi pulled on Aoi's chin, prying his mouth open slightly. Their tongues quickly met, brushing and caressing against one another. He could taste the orange juice Aoi just finished earlier and the lingering bitterness of chocolate which should be none other than that Class Rep's cookie.

Ahh…Aoi didn't like bitter things. He should erase the taste for him.

Aoi knew he flipped Yanagi's switch and was soon rendered breathless. Yanagi switched their position and pushed him against the wall, further hiding them in the shadow. His heart pounded faster and faster, making him dizzy from Yanagi overwhelming him.

"Mnh...Yana...gi," his hands clenched into Yanagi's shirt. "Wait...haa...pause–!!"

The school bell suddenly rang, snapping the two of them out of their daze. Yanagi looked down to see Aoi all flushed and heaving for breath. Realizing that he went too far, he paled and quickly separated himself from Aoi.

"I-I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to–I mean, I couldn't–!"

Aoi touched his lips and licked away the excessive saliva on them with a blush, "It's fine…"

Yanagi felt like his head buzzed and smoked.

Since the bell had rung, they returned to their respective classes. Aoi entered his classroom covering his lips. It was impossible for him to recover from that kind of kiss so easily…

He sat down on his seat and gazed out the window in a daze. On one hand, he wanted to bully Yanagi. On the other hand, he knew he would be digging his own grave if he pushed Yanagi too far.

"…"

Now he wanted to see how Yanagi would screw him over…

"Kashiwagi-kun."

Aoi turned to see it was Keiko, "If you're worried about earlier, it's fine. It's just him getting pessimistic all by himself. It's a common occurrence, so don't mind it."

Hikawa turned around from his seat in front of Aoi, "You really get along with that guy, don't you? How did you guys even know each other? You're polar opposites and from different class."

"We met in middle school once. Yanagi remembered me but it took me a while to recognize him since his height shot up," Aoi answered half-truthfully. "Well, we kind of hang out after that?"

"Eh? Something like that can happen?" Hikawa was amazed. "This world is really small, isn't it?"

"Hmm…I wouldn't say that," Aoi mysteriously faintly smiled.

Yanagi kind of entered this school to meet him after all.

Keiko's eyes wandered to Aoi's lips as he spoke. It was somewhat redder and swollen…
