Chapter 10: Chapter 10- Engagement~2!

Kazuko Shimazu.

The heir of the Shimazu clan and a rightful candidate to become the next head of the clan. The teenage boy who has spent his life in luxury and has a golden future ahead.

Generally, a young master such as Kazuko tends to play around in his schooling years until they don't reach adulthood and get burdened with official work from their immediate superior.

In Kazuko's case, that role is sustained by his older brother.

Playing around at such an age involves partying all year round and also getting into casual relationships with any other woman Kazuko sets his eyes on.

There were no strict rules from his family until Kazuko didn't tie himself to the bond of marriage. The role of his wife only could be handed over to an appropriate candidate.

Any unwanted child at his age could also have been taken care of which left Kazuko to spend his teenage years in the most free-willed manner.

But the poor boy got his heart stuck on a single woman whom he could not force to get his feelings reciprocated.

Kazuko has been dating girls ever since the age of thirteen and he never felt much thrilled. Well, who would get excited to get easy stuff? Pretty much every girl was dying to be with him.

But not this girl.

Well, it was understandable since this girl—Akira Takahashi—was politically and financially superior to the Shimazu clan but Kazuko didn't let such trivial facts discourage him.

For Kazuko, it was love at first sight when he saw Akira after being mentioned by his grandfather that Kazuko and Akira were fleetingly gotten betrothed over a drunken evening by the once patriarchs of the two clans.

There was no written engagement stamp but the words of elders weren't taken lightly either.

Primarily, Kazuko wanted to shoo away such promises which a senile old man did to his friend on just a heavy dose of sakè. But his thoughts wavered when he saw Akira for the first time.

Kazuko still remembers how she made him troubled to even breathe properly on their first meeting which actually was just a casual walk in the park. Nothing extravagant as Akira didn't like meeting strangers in any secluded place.

Kazuko was drawn to the girl's beauty—especially her red eyes— and how calm she was even though every other girl was more or less takes at least some fleeting glances at him.

Kazuko never boasts but he also admits that when he ties his blond hair in a ponytail—just like he did on their first meeting—he appears his best version.

Yet, Akira just walked silently and only answered when Kazuko urged her about some causal stuff. She was strangely formal with him and never intended to take the meeting seriously.

For her it seemed, she was just fulfilling her duty, and after a single round around the park, she bid her farewell.

Kazuko fell for her hard to the point of no return.

Since that day, which was two years ago, he has been trying to get closer to Akira through various means.

His motive was not her body, well it was in a way but not the primary intention. Kazuko for the first time wanted to love someone and receive the same feeling from the other party.

He wanted to get loved by Akira. And for such, he was ready to do anything.

After entering high school he always swatted away all the possible confessions Akira would have received and also did his best to be in her good books meanwhile.

Akira was a tough woman but Kazuko was ready to give as much time as it required to capture her heart and never let go.

There weren't any of his competitors, of whom Kazuko was aware.
The Takahashi clan was on top in one way or another in the hierarchy.

No forceful marriage could have implied which Kazuko couldn't have handled. And also, Akira's father and the current Patriarch was a doting parent who would never let his daughter marry someone just for convenience.

Everything was going perfectly and Kazuko was sure to get Akira's attention by the time of high school graduation. And after reaching adulthood, he was planning on marrying the girl immediately in order to keep her by his side.

But everything came crashing down when he heard a piece of news from one of the maids who he planted in the Takahashi clan to spy on Akira's movements.

…and that piece of news broke his heart.

"...is it because of that guy? What was his name again? Ah… Haruto. Never thought you would be into a butler"

Kazuko was barely able to hold his tone in check as he spoke those words after receiving a blunt rejection from Akira.

He admits that arranging a banquet to announce their engagement was a rash decision but Kazuko no longer wanted to wait to make this relationship permanent, even if it's platonic.

"Yes."

Her reply was as short as ever. She does not react at all even though Kazuko scorned her with that comment. If compared, Akira's personal maid had more of a hateful reaction.

But Kazuko didn't care about anything at this moment.

Anger surged inside him. It was the first time when Akira had brought such emotion out of Kazuko.

He was ready to give up on anything for Akira and yet what he received in return if such faithfulness?

"Is it just a lousy piece of butler left for you to satisfy your desires?! If you-"

"Shimazu Kazuko."

The cloud of enragement bubbled up and before he could realize it, Kazuko already said those things which he never intended to direct.

And looking at the first genuine expression he received from Akira….

…he knew what blunder he have partaken in.

A/N: - I first thought to wrap this meeting in a single chapter but the background information of the Kazuko took a lot of space.

Well, the next chapter would be it.

One thing I will like to remind you. This story will go through phases and Haruto would come to love Akira once again in the very same way. If not, more than before.

She was hella crazy for him but it would take time to blend love into her obsession with Haruto as well.
