Chapter 9: [Vol. 1] [Chapter 9: Introduction] {9}

The current time is 9.30 am. Makoto and Ken were seen standing opposite each other, talking to each other, in one of the recreation rooms of the Takeru family's main house. For the umpteenth time, Ken heard the name "Asanuma", which made him even more curious. Finally, Ken decided to ask Makoto

"Actually, who is Asanuma-san? Did he the one who caught me? Grandpa keeps saying his name…”

Hearing this, Makoto realized that he had not explained anything to Ken. Makoto appeared to hesitate for a moment, but he decided to say it

“Asanuma is the name of the glove puppet, No… to be more precise, he was the wolf himself. Asanuma is a wolf Yokai, sealed inside the glove puppet”

Hearing this, Ken looked surprised. Makoto had expected Ken's reaction. Makoto continues talking

"Asanuma didn't have the controller all this time, by giving your blood to the glove puppet, you are becoming the new controller"

Hearing his grandfather's explanation, Ken looked even more confused. Ken replied

“Controller? Wa, wait a minute, are grandpa serious? Because I'm really confused right now"

With a serious facial expression, Makoto answered

"You can see it from my face, do I look like I'm joking?"

Hearing this, Ken looked closely at his grandfather's face, until Ken looked awkward. Ken then said

"I'm sorry, It's just that all of that is too hard to believe, grandpa"

Makoto appeared to be able to understand this. Makoto then said

“I'll show it to you, after all, I have no other choice. Follow me"

Makoto started walking away from here, Ken then walked after him.

Makoto and Ken walked together up the stairs behind the backyard of the Takeru family's house, up the hill. Makoto and Ken then arrived in front of the shrine. They continue walking to the entrance of the shrine, Makoto then took out the key from his trouser pocket, then unlocked the door. Makoto opened the door of this shrine to the inside, and the two of them then walked inside.

The sunlight from the entrance appeared enough to illuminate the entire shrine inside. There are statues of Shinto gods on altars, lined up on the right and left of this shrine, where at the end, there is a decorative table on top of which there is a container with bearings, and on top of it there is a wolf glove puppet. Makoto then took this glove puppet and showed them to Ken. Makoto said

“This is the Asanuma I mentioned before. Now try to wear this on your hand"

Makoto handed this glove puppet to Ken. Ken then wears this glove puppet on his right hand, His facial expression looks a little nervous. Makoto said

“After the glove puppet's last user dies, any member of the Takeru family can become the next owner, even just by giving this glove puppet a drop of blood, as a sign of bonding. After the last owner, I as the caretaker of this shrine decided not to use this glove puppet again. But apparently, fate said otherwise"

Ken looks surprised, he looks at the glove puppet in his hand carefully. Makoto said

"Before we continue, now let's get out of this shrine"

Makoto then walked out, followed by Ken.

The time now shows at 9:00 am. Ken is now standing opposite Makoto on the concrete field in front of the shrine. Makoto then said

"Now I will prove what I told you. If you want to summon Asanuma, you just have to ask. But remember, there's a limit to Asanuma's ability to maintain its shape”

Ken looked surprised, but he just followed. Ken looked at this glove puppet, then said

"Asanuma, come over"

Not long after, Ken felt something on this glove puppet, the glove puppet then slipped from his hands, and landed on the concrete floor, seeing this Ken looked surprised. Not long after, thick black smoke began to envelop this glove puppet. The more it evaporates, the faster this thick black smoke spreads.

From within the thick black smoke, emerged a large wolf with long fur and a long furry tail, gray and white in color, which when waved these fur formed like a blaze. The wolf's body is covered with sturdy carved black armor which turned out to be the real skin of this wolf.

This armor skin covered many parts of its body, near the top of the ear, upper head, upper neck (nape), the front lower part of the fore and hind legs, the upper part of the fore and hind legs, shoulders of the forelegs and hind legs, front back, and small part of the chest. The armor on the shoulders of the forelegs, there is an additional armor that rises 2 meters high, like large horns. The foreleg paws of this wolf are shaped like the palms of a human hand with long and thick fur, and large and sharp hooves covered in armor. While The hindleg paws of this wolf are like the wolf's paws, with long and thick fur, and large and sharp hooves covered in armor.

Asanuma is 5 meters tall (7 meters including additional armor on the shoulders of the forelegs), and stands on all fours. His teeth are sharp, with large fangs. His expression was glower, and his gaze was cold. It appears that Asanuma's shape is very similar to the one Ken saw in his dream, except for its size which has become larger. Asanuma said

“Finally, after so long, I can come out again like this!”

Seeing this, Ken was shocked, until he fell to the ground. Ken's expression looks scared of Asanuma. Asanuma looked sharply at Ken, with his large sharp canine teeth, Asanuma said

“So you're my new controller? Hahaha, you look weak"

Ken appeared unable to answer anything. Makoto said

"We haven't seen each other for a long time, Asanuma"

Hearing this, Asanuma turned to look at Makoto. Asanuma said

“Who else if not Makoto? You look… old?”

Makoto smiled upon hearing this. Asanuma continued talking

"We'll see that later"

Makoto looked at Ken, then said

"Anything you want to say about this Ken?"

Ken looks still in shock, then answered

"I don't think I have the right words to describe this"

Makoto appeared to smile upon hearing this, he then replied

“Then let me give you some advice. Try asking Asanuma to return to his glove puppet form"

Hearing this, Ken looked nervous. Ken looked at Asanuma who looked ferocious, Ken's expression turned scared, something that rarely happened. But Ken convinced himself to be brave. Ken then said

“Asanuma, go back to being a glove puppet”

Hearing this, Asanuma appeared to react immediately, and growling, Asanuma appeared to be trying to hold back the reaction coming from within his body. Began to seep thick black smoke evaporated from Asanuma's body, then enveloped his large body, until finally covering his entire body. This thick black smoke then narrowed and got smaller. It appears that if Asanuma returns to his puppet glove form, this black smoke is then absorbed back into the glove puppet.

Seeing all of this, Ken is now silent in his place, with a shocked expression on his face. Ken walked over to the glove puppet Asanuma and picked it up. In front of him, Makoto then walked over to Ken. Ken looked at his grandfather, still with the same facial expression. Makoto said

"And here Ken, all the things you want to know will be answered"

Ken looked doubtful, then replied

"What if I don't want this?"

Makoto replied

“Unfortunately, ownership cannot be canceled, unless the owner dies”

Hearing this, Ken was shocked again until his eyes widened. Makoto then continued talking

“But of course, it's still up to you whether you want to use this power or not. But, let me emphasize one thing. Be wise if you decide to use his powers, and don't be careless in telling others. There's no need to rush, think about it first"

Ken looked doubtful, he then replied

"Okay grandpa"

Ken and Makoto returned the glove puppet Asanuma to its original place inside the shrine, then they walked out. Makoto closed the entrance door to the shrine, Ken looked in the direction where the glove puppet Asanuma was placed, through the gap of the closing door, until the door finally closed.

The current time is 9:45 am. At the main house, Ken arrived at the common room where his family was waiting, while sitting together on long and single chairs here. Ken's father is seen reading the newspaper, while Shitara and her mother are reading books. Ken appeared to come with a flat expression and appeared a bit lost in thought. Ken said

"Okay, sorry to keep you guys waiting"

Ken's father and mother smiled, They then rose from their seats. Ken's mother then said

"Ken, What did you talk about with grandpa?"

Hearing this, Ken remembered his grandfather's words earlier, if he could not carelessly tell other people about Asanuma. Ken then answered

"Grandpa just took me around while chatting casually about my opinion while I was here mom"

Ken's mother gave a nod and a smile, Then said

"Is that true? Grandpa must like you, Ken"

Ken smiled awkwardly. Ken's father said

"You look pale, are you okay Ken?"

Ken replied

"I'm fine, just not getting enough sleep"

Shitara looked at Ken with a suspicious expression. The four of them then walked away from here.

Ken and his family were seen walking out of the house carrying their belongings, then getting them to the car. They then got into the car, Ken's father in the driver's seat, Ken's mother next to him, Shitara and Ken in the second row. The car then drives away from here. Ken looked at the main house through his window, the car kept going. Elsewhere, Makoto appeared to be watching them from the second-floor balcony.
