Chapter 13 Part 1: Pyo Hye Won
“Ugh.. Ah? Are you crying? What should I do, you must have been very surprised.”
“It’s pretty normal. This kid almost died… She looked so young. This Gate is terrible! So Terrible!”
“Then what should we do?”
“I don’t know either! Guild leader, has a younger sibling right? Do something!”
“My brother doesn’t speak very well!”
She’s alive and breathing.
Pyo Hye-Won cried and laughed with others, then looked embarrassed at the sight of me crying.
Although, she doesn’t seem to remember anything about me…
At Least she’s alive.
Indeed. Pyo Hye-Won is alive! Tears kept pouring all over my face at this obvious reality. As if I had salt in my eyes. I cried stupidly in front of everyone.

For over 10 years, I have lived through an unforgettable nightmare.
My peaceful life has been screwed up ever since I got trapped inside this gate. I can not deny the fact that it all started after my master’s death. The 19-year-old Han Seo-Ha was originally going to get a decent job at an industrial company, and use her unique skills to play around and eat. However, because of this gate incident I became a hunter who had to go through a couple of life and death battles just to survive inside a gate.
There is no need to explain how much death and suffering followed in that process. Any Gate is such a dangerous place.
Master Pyo Hye-won…
Master and I doesn’t have that much of an age difference. I’m already 20 years old, and even though there was only an 8-year age gap, I still respect her like she was my elder. In the hunter world, a 28-year old hunter is already considered to be a seasoned veteran.
The Guild that my mentor led, was called Yeokcheon. It was not big enough compared to the other large-scale guilds who came to clear this gate. So they were mostly assigned scouting missions. They entered the gate around 3 days to a week earlier, to gather information before the main unit enters. They were to inspect the current situation inside the gate, and determine the location, and the number of remaining survivors.
In other words, the hunters assigned on clearing missions are already determined to some extent.
Unfortunately they all died.
It’s a natural story.
Since it took three years to clear this gate, the number of fallen hunters were numerous. All the scouting units assigned to enter a month after the gate opened, suffered a ton casualties. Even in Yeokcheon, everyone died except for my master.
It was all because of Beelzebub. That son of b*tch!

A huge steaming soup was placed in front of everyone. It was a luxurious meal that was cooked in consideration of me. They managed to set up such a sumptuous meal because there were almost no monsters in the surrounding desert. If there were, the smell alone would have attracted a monster nearby.
“Have you calmed down?”
I struggled to hold back the tears that were about to well up in my eyes again.
Pyo Hye-won. I can’t keep my emotions from fluctuating. I was mentally tired because it had been such a long time since I experienced such emotional ups and downs. Also, my emotional fluctuations were limited only to battles I experienced inside the gate.
“I haven’t heard your name yet. What’s your name?”
“Han Seo-Ha.”
“How old are you?”
“I’m 20 now.”
“Wow, I have a younger brother who’s similar age as you! He’s a bit younger than you though.”
Slurp.
We chatted lightly as we continue to gulp down the soup into our mouths. My master seemed to be trying to relieve me of my tension. She’s still a kind person.
“Did you find it difficult?”
I roughly nodded. Indeed, I had been through a lot of difficulties before returning.

(Hey, are you okay?)
Yes. Even then. You saved me.
“Did you survive alone?”
“Not really. If you walk over there for about a week, there is an indoor gym.”
People around me listened to my words intently. This is a very valuable information especially for scouting units. An Indoor Gym is a shelter that can be turned into a fortress for survivors.
“Most survivors around the area are gathered there.”
“How many are there?”
“The last time I saw it, there were about 80 people.”
“80 people…”
It was a voice of surprise.
Back in the past, the so called ‘Unbreakable Castle’ was that same indoor gym. It was a fortress that catered so many survivors for a very long time, and it was pretty noteworthy. Especially since it did not collapse due to monsters but because of internal strife.
“When did you leave?”
“Ten days ago.”
“Are you alone?”
“Yes.”
The man who was listening next to me asked curiously.
“You lived a week away alone, did you come all the way here?”
Everyone was suddenly tensed up after hearing his words.
“Hey, what are you doing to the kid?”

Pyo Hye-won pretended to reprimand him, but her eyes were still cold.
Yes. I shouldn’t be upset because it’s natural for them to be suspicious of me. It is indeed quite out of ordinary for an «Awakener» to be wandering alone in this salt desert by herself. Anything can happen inside the gate, so if one had some doubt, it is wise to be cautious.
“I can avoid monsters using my unique skill.”
“Even so…”
Recalling her clumsy performance earlier, it seemed very doubtful that she had survived this long, alone.
“Ah… I was just surprised to see other people around her earlier so… Normally…”
I then held up my karambit and showed it to everyone.
“I can catch at least an E-Class or one of those contracted monsters by myself.”
They seemed a bit interested about me after hearing my explanation. They probably thought that I had such a good skill as an ordinary person.
“How many Awakeners with the same combat ability as you are currently residing in that indoor gym?”
“…About four other people.”
An Yu-Ra, An Yu-Soo, and Seol Min-Jeon have the ability to hunt alone… If Kim Tae-Byung and Lee Chan-Song are paired together, it’s also possible for them to hunt alone.
“Then you must have been a pretty important force for them. Then why are you here alone?”
A man asked me sharply. Ah right. That would be quite suspicious.

TL NOTE:
We’re now on Volume 2~ x’)
I can actually understand why they’d be suspicious of Seo-Ha her actions are just not normal. No normal inexperienced person, would choose to travel alone for 10 days just to go to a barren salt desert just to experience sight seeing inside a ‘Salt Cave’ lol.
