This demon author proposed the theory of using human blood as one of the ingredients, and followed through with the experiment himself. Following this part was another short paragraph illustrating the effects of such method, and this practise method seemed to have turned out pretty decently.
…but in a novel, any character with such a setting would have his or her fate sealed as a cannon fodder.
For the longest time, any character that dared to used human blood in their cultivation would definitely turn out to be the antagonist. And usually, they were always the first to die.
Yuan Yuan Yuan looked at the pendant. To be frank, she didn’t want to spend another second even touching it — that was what both her morals and brains were telling her. She placed the jade pendant back down, quietly set her alarm clock and went back to bed to take a nap till midnight.
When the alarm rang, she struggled to wake up. After a while, she pushed herself up, opened her fully charged phone, clicked into the DreaManga app and found the lastest chapter of Demons.
Reading the manga made Yuan Yuan Yuan feel as though she was looking at a ticking bomb. She couldn’t put on a I-don’t-give-a-damn attitude as though she didn’t know what would happen, because every page felt like she’d dismantled a bomb.
This chapter was written from the male lead’s perspective. The male lead seemed to be a magnet for trouble himself too. Currently, he found himself in a difficult dilemma.
To Yuan Yuan Yuan’s surprise, this guy actually started doing things for betterment of humans.
Even though he was a small fry that hailed from an established sect, the male lead didn’t have a rigid personality. In fact, he was a little crafty at times and quite righteous. If you talk about appearance only, the male lead looked pretty decent, it’s been quite a while since Yuan Yuan Yuan had seen a character with such an appearance.
After the male lead entered the chaotic city, he’d accomplished quite a number of feats even though he was undercover for a long period of time. The first time he did was to sort out multiple unscrupulous demons hidden away in the shadows. And the second feat that he did was the discovery of human “trafficking” in the city.
As expected of the most chaotic city. These humans that were being trafficked were meant to serve as food for demons. ♢ YOU LOOK LIKE YOU’RE DRAWING ME, CHAPTER 39 is hosted at ZHANLANN.COM ♢
【Demons eating humans is a tradition since the ancient times. In modern times however, after humans implemented a series of development strategies across their civilisation, it has become very difficult to get their hands on a human and devour thoughtlessly. Hence, many demons turn to “human trafficking” as a solution. 】This was Ji Qiu’s narration in the manga.
Yuan Yuan Yuan looked at the line of words, silently bit her fingers and nodded.
It did occur to her that something like this would happen in the demon realm, but the first time she’d witness such a scene was a few nights ago. That girl was probably among the “trafficked” ones.
【The trafficked humans may be people that have went missing for many years, or an unregistered resident living in a remote area…】Yuan Yuan Yuan read the descriptive explanation offered by Ji Qiu. Before this, Yuan Yuan Yuan herself didn’t really know much about this. But this Ji Qiu guy really seemed to know a lot, and even knew the sources of this illegal trade.
At that thought, Yuan Yuan Yuan suddenly paused.
And then, she suddenly flipped all the way to the last few pages and stopped on a particular page.
The character that appeared on the screen was a girl. Yuan Yuan Yuan was incredibly familiar with her face, and incredibly familiar with the jacket that the girl had on.
Not only so, Yuan Yuan Yuan was also incredibly familiar with the price of that jacket. It was 3.90 bucks. When she first arrived in this city, she was lucky enough to catch the mega clearing sales by the shop opposite her place, and she’d bought quite a number of clothes from there.

That jacket was completely black. It was made of a very average material, and even pilled after wearing it for a while. She had no idea what brand that jacket was faked from. Even though the material was just simply tragic, the cutting and fitting was really very nice. It made her look skinny, and made her waist look particularly dainty.
Even though Yuan Yuan Yuan’s physique grew in size after her glamour, she still managed to fit that jacket. The black jacket was her favourite piece. She had white one too, and she’d washed it so many times it was tearing.
The day she broke the saloon… was the day she had that jacket on.
And indeed Yuan Yuan Yuan gave her jacket to the girl in the screen. Because when she rescued the girl from the room, the latter’s clothes were torn. Yuan Yuan Yuan had nothing else on her so she took off her jacket and gave it to her.
She looked at the girl that she’d sent to the police station in the manga — the latter picked up her jacket and sniffed… and then raised her head in disdain as she spoke, “there’s no demon scent at all… it only smells like Liby detergent powder.”
…
Yuan Yuan Yuan sniffed herself. Indeed she smelt of Liby detergent powder…
Well that’s not her fault, she wanted to save water, so usually she hand-washed her clothes. She’d only use the washing machine as a dryer…
….
Ahhhhhhh! But oh my fuck! What’s this top ten anime betrayal scene!
He’s a goddamn guy, why the hell did he decide it was a good idea to pick up cross-dressing! And the saloon, didn’t that lavender lady say “sixteen year old girl”! Look at this accuracy! Was this how they did their quality checks? If she knew that girl was the male lead, she’d have left him there to be served on a silver platter for dinner!
Yuan Yuan Yuan laid on the bed and screamed silently.
She didn’t know how to describe her current feelings, especially after she’d read the scene where the girl rubbed her face, and out appeared an honest, but evidently male face beneath that pair of hands…
“Is that demon a little dumb, he’d even wanted to bring me to the police station, police stations weren’t the safest of place even for humans, and the saloon wouldn’t let out any details of the commotion get out either… and he even used GPS… my god, this demon looks kinda broke.” On the screen, the male lead muttered as he walked out of the police station. Yuan Yuan Yuan’s black jacket was still on his shoulders; he looked as though he was a mafia boss that stepped out of the underworld…
Yuan Yuan Yuan lied on her bed. She felt like a turtle with its shell removed…
There were all kinds of strange comments in the discussion section. She’d only glanced at the comment with the highest number of likes. That comment wrote “ahhhhh the cross-dressing male lead is so freaking cute!!”
Right… that was pretty cute… that was so goddamn cute.
Yuan Yuan Yuan locked her screen and threw the phone at the bedside, skipping the rest of the manga.
Fuck this, she’d traumatised now.
