The girl standing in front of him flashed the most sincere smile he had ever seen.

A sleek figure, long brown tied hair that almost covered the most beautiful eyes he ever saw in a girl. Viktor had a good impression of her right away.

"Hello... you do remember your name, right?" The girl urged yet again with an encouraging voice.

"Viktor, I am Viktor." He answered after a slight, hesitant pause.

"Just Viktor?"

The girl narrowed her eyes, her expression suspicious. Even while doing so, her face still reflected a cute demeanor.

"Well well... you have something to hide, aren't you?"

A part of Viktor expected a confrontation, but contrary to his expression, the girl's smile returned, there was even a little chuckle.

"Well… it's ok, everyone has their own secrets, anyway. I am Jessie, Jessie Wineberries."

The girl took a step closer and reached out to touch his arm. She traced the muscles beneath with her soft fingers.

"Whoa, you have a pretty strong arm here. No wonder you can kill it with one swing."

She continued her touches without a care in the world as Viktor's expression turned awkward. All of a sudden, Jessie realized the presence of another girl standing behind him, and she quickly took one step away and smiled playfully as she leaned close to whisper to him.

"Sorry, didn't see your beautiful girlfriend there."

Viktor was impressed with her looks and friendly personality, but what impressed him the most was the metal marble she threw at the gargoyles. It has helped him kill the gargoyles before.

But, right as he was about to ask her, he heard footsteps from behind. The man with the eye patch had approached him, and he spoke with a neutral expression on his face.

"You will come with me to see the mayor," he said, his tone plain. Afterward, he glanced at the friendly girl and said, "Jessie, he wants to see you too."

Viktor could swear she saw the girl's constantly bright mood change for a second, but then she turned to look at Viktor, gave him a discreet wink, and said as playfully as she could. "Psyche!"

They were escorted along the main street and entered the small settlement. All around them, Viktor could feel the curious, questioning, or suspicious stares from all around him. A quick look around revealed that most of the people staring were either women, children, or old people.

As they walked further in, he requested the Djinn to give him the details of the people around him.

[Sky realm: 5]

[Earth realm: 98]

[Mortal realm: 127]

As for the new girl walking next to him, she was a high stage earth realm, which surprised Viktor considering the girl's ability to hold a gargoyle and also had used what appears to be a powerful lightning spell.

With this, he had confirmed that the town really only has five sky realm fighters and he has seen them all; the eye patch guy, the long-haired ice magic guy, and the three others who fought on the front lines.

Actually, that amount was smaller than what he hoped for at first, it was a whole town after all.

Well, Viktor didn't really mind that much. As for him, fewer numbers mean a lower risk of trouble, which works in his favor.

This island has at least a hundred houses inside the steel wall, along with a dozen of what looked like common buildings in the main street. He notice one of the bigger buildings placed on the corner of the town was half burned, separated by a jagged line crudely made from scorch marks.

Finally, the eye patch man took a turn to the side and brought him into a medium-sized building, smaller than some of the others.

Right as he entered the double doors, Viktor realized the buildings were set like a law enforcement office.

There were a few men holding the weird laser gun and finally Viktor saw a man in his fifties hunched behind a table.

The man behind the desk looked up, inspected them from top to bottom with his gaze, and said.

"I am Walsh, the mayor of this town." The man apparently quickly realized Viktor was the one to speak to and said "Tell me, what are you doing in a secluded town of Antartica like this?"

Viktor calmly presented his cover story about how he has been hiding with a group of friends in the last two years, and when they ran out of supplies they finally split up.

Now, he was walking around to look for them, but then considering the dangers around, he decided that he needed somewhere to stay and lay low for a while until he could know more about the current situation outside.

After telling his cover story, Viktor smiled in his heart, proud of what he had come up with

Experience had taught him that the best lies were always ones that had grains of truth in them..

However, the mayor response was not quite as he expected

"Mister Viktor, I really hope I can be more hospitable to you and your companion here; however you are obviously a liar," the mayor said with a flat tone before continuing "Unfortunately we cannot accept dishonest people into our community"

Viktor was surprised and wondered what part of it that gave him away, he was about to argue when the mayor already made a decision

"You and your companion can stay here tonight under supervision, but tomorrow morning you will leave this town. Do whatever you are planning elsewhere."

Viktor held back a sigh, disappointed that his plan has failed. Even after all the information he had gathered from Andrei and the knight templars, he was still unable to blend in. He probably needed a guide who knows everything about the current world to pull this off next time.

Once again Viktor tried to convince the mayor to reconsider his decision but the old man ignored him.

Right at this moment, however, he was interrupted by the sound of a door slamming, along with sets of rushed footsteps approaching closer.

Viktor looked at them and recognized the long haired sky realm fighter from before and the other three were the rest of the sky realms of the town.

They came in with a disgruntled expression, and Viktor first thought it was going to give trouble to him and his companion.

However, they unexpectedly threw their emotion toward the mayor.

"Mayor Walsh, Is it true that the town has no more spirit stones? How are you going to pay for our services then?"
