He was surprised to find such an overwhelming figure would end up dying so quickly.
"Yes, young master, I hope you would be willing to come home and see him before he passed."
Viktor was stunned for a moment. There was a mixed feeling within him. After all, he hated his father for the way he treated him back then. However, considering this current situation with the apocalypse, Viktor wondered what his death would mean to the Romanov family's existence.
He stared at the old butler for a few seconds before finally saying.
"Do you know why he wanted to see me? … Is it possible… could it be that it be about the family inheritance?"
As much as he hated his father, Viktor was still interested in the inheritance. Money is still money no matter where it came from, and at a time of apocalypse like this, Viktor was sure his father had a scheme to gain a large amount of money and for sure in such era money means spirit stones, artifacts, and such.
Such a thing would definitely help him to complete his main quest
When the old butler saw Viktor's excitement, he decided to nod and reply, "That is correct, young master. You should find your older brother and sister and talk this matter out amongst yourselves."
"Yes, yes of course!" Viktor stood up, a glint of excitement in his eyes. "If I'm not there, those two would just take everything, I want my share!"
He thought about his family taking his share of the riches with a look of pure repulse on his face before he turned to look at the old butler and said,
"Okay, I will follow you home."
The old butler gave Viktor a slight bow and said, "Excellent decision, young master."
Afterward, Viktor told the old butler to give him some time to prepare. He brought his companions to the house provided by the mayor and told them about his decision to come home.
"Alright, here's the plan. We go and find my father, hear whatever he has to say, and get my inheritance, then get out and start our own business."
Everyone in the group of course knows how powerful the Romanov family are, including Jessie. The only one who had no votes and would follow the group no matter what was Kosta and Liza.
Viktor could actually go alone, but his main reason to explain his plans like this was to convince Jessie to come with him.
"Now that you know, will you come with me?"
After the explanation, the normally cheerful girl furrowed her brows and gave it a thought for a second before saying, "Well, I did promise to help you prepare the energy barrier, so I will follow you until that is done, at least."
Viktor gave her a cordial smile, but he could feel the bitter disappointment almost poison his mind. He hoped the girl would say she will stay longer than that, but he still has something up his sleeve. After his setup in the city was done, he might be able to make her stay.
Next, Viktor decided to ask Eva. Although she would always follow him and stay as a part of the Romanov family, she was after all still a Swedish princess that deserves to be treated as one.
"Hey, Eva, tell me, have you ever thought about going home to Sweden?"
The sudden question caught the girl off guard, but she gave it a thought before answering.
"Yes, I actually do, but… Not right now, I would rather stay here and help you succeed."
As the days passed, Viktor found himself liking Eva more and more, and once again he was shown that his expectation was not misplaced. He promised to send a message to the Swedish kingdom and take her there to visit when things have settled.
Now as everyone had agreed, Viktor told his group to prepare for a long trip, especially Jessie and Kosta as they would be leaving the village for a while.
Then, Viktor went to see Martha, the Mayor's wife, and get the promised 60 pieces of armor made of seal pelt. As he entered the shop, the mayor's wife greeted him with a smile before going to the back and fetching all the armor she had made. Viktor gave the armors a quick cursory glance to ensure their quality, before he nodded and said, "Thank you very much."
As payment, he gave the woman another bottle of vodka with a blue label. He left after storing all the armor inside his storage ring.
Then, Viktor came to meet Angus, who was working near the storage.
Viktor was thinking of offering the yacht at first, but he was a little concerned that it might be a bit cramped for 20 or something sky realm guards. However, luckily the old butler told him that they had brought a mode of transportation of their own.
Curious, Viktor decided to follow him and check it out.
They had brought five metal plates snow cars that could carry around 10 people each. With his scanning ability, Viktor could see that they were made from strong metal similar to the metal used to make tier 1 equipment. It was sufficiently strong, yet the seats suggested it was also made with comfort in mind, as the material looked expensive and soft.
After all, they had mentioned about collecting everyone from the bunker.
As they had a better mode of transportation that could get Viktor's group directly to the town without the need to walk, Viktor quickly agreed to follow them and leave the yacht to Roman's care.
He chose to sit near the front to get a better view and waited until the guards were all in the snowmobiles.
"Alright, let's go!"
As the orders left his mouth, all five snowmobiles headed off from Arkhangelsk town to the south into the town of Novgorod, leaving a massive trail of snow behind them.
