Full of nervousness and excitement, Gu Wei pushed the door open.

The cameraman seemed to be infected by his good mood. He snickered behind his back and set up the camera. He was ready to record the warm scene of the two guests’ meeting.

This was what it should have been. Gu Wei didn’t pay much attention to the cameraman. In his heart, he was only interested in this fateful meeting. If the cameraman wanted to immortalize it, then so be it.

Immortal teammate of this Immortal variety show, your little friend Gu Wei had arrived!

His new friend was about to have the first hug that Gu Wei even did on a variety show.

“My friend, I finally found you!”

Sure enough, there was someone in the infirmary. That person probably got the role of a school doctor. He was adjusting his costume – a doctor’s white coat – with his back facing the door. The bracelet issued by the show was put on the table.

The moment Gu Wei rushed over, he felt that the person’s height and the back of his head were quite familiar. However, he was still full of enthusiasm, so he moved without thinking twice. Gu Wei pounced,  and hugged the said new friend tightly from behind. He was shorter than his new friend, so his face was around the taller man’s nape area.

Immediately afterwards, his lungs were filled with a cold, woody fragrance with a hint of camellia. It must be the man’s perfume mixed with his natural body odor. It made Gu Wei feel more and more familiar with this man. The smell of the perfume was connected with a certain memory deep inside his mind, and that inexplicably made Gu Wei’s legs feel weak.

Gu Wei: “…”

‘It couldn’t be such a coincidence, no way. It’s impossible.’ Gu Wei denied the sudden, intrusive, terrifying, thought that popped inside his head.

But at the next moment, the person he was hugging spoke—

“So happy to see me?”

Gu Wei: “?”

“I finally found you too.”

Gu Wei: “??”

“Little Gu, you just got me into trouble yesterday. Do you think I will forgive you now if you throw yourself into my arms?”

Gu Wei: “???”

Gu Wei’s smile froze on his face. His arms – which were still hugging the older man – trembled.

J-Jiang Xun?

The meme man himself?

What’s going on? How could it be him??

Where was his destined, kind-hearted, helpful, fairy1means someone who is very good it’s on the level of an immortal fairy teammate??

This was not an Immortal-level variety show. This was a devilish one instead.

He was scammed.

In order to trick him into appearing on the show, his manager had said that none of his “opponents” would appear, like Jiang Enyuan or Jiang Ying.

…but then, his nemesis’ big brother was here instead??

But in reality, Zhao Ya didn’t know that he and Jiang Xun actually had such a hot mess between them.

She also didn’t know that Jiang Xun was not only his nemesis’ big brother. No. That reaction meme was also his ex-fiancé, his “golden master2euphemism for sugar daddy”, and Gu Wei’s prime target of rant-slash-slander-slash-essay in WeChat.

At this point, calling Jiang Ying to be his nemesis was misleading. It was clearly Jiang Xun who was supposed to be his fated enemy.

She also, also didn’t know that Gu Wei, somehow, would send Jiang Xun trending on Weibo late at night, just the day before this filming. Furthermore, it was completely Gu Wei’s fault – his talented right hand slipped and liked such a controversial tweet. To think this was the hand he trusted for eighteen years of his life…

“Why is it you?” Gu Wei let go of Jiang Xun’s body in immediate reflex and took two steps back in disbelief. His legs felt like jelly and his center of gravity was unstable – he fell, unceremoniously, to the ground.

He didn’t care about the pain. He stretched out a hand, tugged on the other person’s pants, and hurriedly asked, “are you… the real Jiang Xun?”

You were actually just a devil in disguise, right?

“Absolutely, 100% real. No contraband stuff here.” Jiang Xun replied with a terrifying smile on his lips, “I told you, I would see you tomorrow.”

Jiang Xun turned around, bent down to look at Gu Wei who was on the ground, “what? You already forgot what you did last night?”

“You–! You give me back my love-filled hug!” Gu Wei cried in sheer frustration, but no tears came.

“Give what back?” Jiang Xun asked.

“No– nothing.” Gu Wei shook his head.

He didn’t want his love-filled hug back anymore. Whoever wanted that thing could just take it.

Looking at the youth’s reaction, Jiang Xun said meaningfully, “you didn’t come here specifically to find me? You don’t want to see me anymore?”

Gu Wei panicked, it turned out that the phrase “see you tomorrow” was not an empty threat, but a harsh reality he would face sooner than later.

“When you sent me to the hot search last night, did you ever think you would see me today?” Jiang Xun asked.

Gu Wei desperately shook his head.

He regretted it until his intestine turned green3he really really really regrets it.

Don’t blame him, blame his traitorous little hand! He didn’t do it on purpose.

The world was filled with black-hearted degenerates and scums. No wonder the director looked at him with barely concealed mirth in his eyes. No wonder the cameraman snickered in schadenfreude behind his back just now. It turned out that there was such a big trap waiting for him.

Jiang Xun had just changed into the costume prepared by the crew. He was wearing a white coat and with a stethoscope slung carelessly around his neck. He emitted a different vibe than the Jiang Xun who stood at the stage, covered in his team’s uniform. This Jiang Xun now had an air of abstinence4it’s hard for me to describe. It’s just a vibe, of that cold, tall, emotionally-stunted male leads who looked too pristine to bother with mortal matters.

Gu Wei, who was already guilty, panicked even more seeing this version of Jiang Xun.

Gu Wei wanted to run away. He looked around the surrounding room, and assessed the possibility of escaping from Jiang Xun’s evil clutches–

0%.

‘Sure enough,’ Jiang Xun nodded as if he could read Gu Wei’s scrambled mind.

“Please close the door for me. I have some personal grievances and I need to settle them first.”

Gu Wei: “………….”

It’s over.

Karma, once again, had come to him.
