“Brian, if the carriage ride hurts you, please tell me immediately.” Lua said after we got on the move.
“Don’t worry. It’s not that bad.” I responded.
“You shouldn’t argue against her. Ladies always win.” Timothy said.
“Is that based on experience?” I asked. I don’t doubt him, I just want to know if he actually is married or has a significant other.
“Yes. Both my mother and wife are like that.” Timothy said.
“Well, at least your wife lets you do your job.” I commented.
“Well, she still needs materials for her cookies, so she has to accept my job.” Timothy said.
Cookies? Could that mean?
“Does your wife run the cookie store in town? It was called… (Rudevik’s cookies.) Rudevik’s cookies, I think?” I asked, with a bit of assistance from Laura.
“Yes she does. In fact, didn’t you visit the store?” Timothy asked.
“Yeah, I did. With Alice.” I said.
“She told me how the town’s savior came to enjoy cookies with the Lord’s daughter.” Timothy said.
“Were you two on a date?” Lua asked.
“I guess so.” I admitted.
“Can you take me next?” She asked.
“Sure. If you want me to.” I said.
“Thank you! And it’s not like I want to go on a date with you. It’s just that … I’ve just never been on a date before.” Lua admitted. “So I want my first date to be with someone I trust.”
“Then let’s do it.” I said.
“You must be a natural.” Timothy commented.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“They way you flirt.” He said.
“... yeah. Sure. I’m a natural. Thanks.” I said before thinking of something I could use to change the subject. “By the way, why is the cookie store called Rudevik’s cookies? Who is this Rudevik?” I asked.
“You don’t know of him?” Lua asked.
“Well, that’s something.” Timothy added.
“Should I? Well, then again, I know basically no one.” I admitted. “So, who is he?”
“Rudevik is an S-rank adventurer, based in the Royal Capital. He is said to be the best adventurer in the country.” Lua said.
“Some would argue the second best.” Timothy added.
“Well, yes in terms of strength, but no one likes Mr. James.” Lua said.
“And this Mr. James is?” I asked.
“Another S-rank adventurer. He is strong, but tends to destroy things, so most people don’t like him.” Lua said.
“Well, he does tend to pay for things he breaks when he sobers up.” Timothy said.
“Is he ever sober?” Lua asked.
“As far as I know, sometimes.” Timothy said.
So, I’ve just learned about two S-rank adventurers. But if this James is someone that tends to break things, I probably want to stay away from him. Mixing me with a destructive drunk would lead to mass destruction. Or just death. Well, I guess resurrection is always an option if one of us dies.
… or, let’s just not fight in the first place. I don’t have time reversal abilities, so the repair bill is going to be huge.
“One more question. Why would an S-rank adventurer make a cookie store? Which is so popular that it has a franchise store in Alewatch?” I asked.
“Well, the reason I know is because he just likes cookies. Some even say that he is called a ‘cookie monster’.” Timothy said. “But my wife says that he has a different reason, which is a secret.”
“Or he just ate all the cookies in the capital and the King banned him from buying more cookies.” Lua said. “So he had no choice but to make his own store.”
“Well, that rumor is false, according to my wife.” Timothy said.
… Are all S-rank adventurers weirdos? One is a cookie monster and the other is a drunk. Well, there probably are more than two S-rank adventurers in the world.
“Goblins!” I heard a yell from the first carriage. Laura had also just warned both Lua and I, so we knew about 5 seconds before they yelled out.
Tye and the shielder of his team were the ones on the lead carriage and they stepped up to receive the goblins.
(You will not take part in this fight.) I heard the voice of Lua’s System Support in my head. Lua probably wanted to tell it to me herself, but we haven’t trained with the system link thing yet.
(Well, they are just goblins, so this isn’t much of a fight.) I said back. I don’t know if my message was heard by Lua, but I’ll assume Laura or her System Support transmitted it to her.
I was honestly expecting Tye to summon something, I mean he is a summoner, but instead he just pulled out his whip and began attacking with it. I guess goblins aren’t worth summoning something.

He used his whip skillfully to attack the goblins heads, and with just two or three hits per goblin, the goblins went down. His shield friend also took one down and seeing its friends die, the last goblin attempted to run, but was shot by the archer girl who had run up from the last carriage.
I got some looks from them when I absorbed the goblins with my terminal, but none of them actually asked about it at that point.
“So… how do you absorb goblins like that?” The archer girl asked during our first break.
“Secret.” I answered.
“What? Really? Don’t you think something like that would be useful to share?” She asked.
“Yes. I absolutely think that I should share, but it won’t change anything. Even if I tell you, you won’t be able to do it.” I told her.
“Why? Don’t tell me you have a unique skill?” She asked.
Well, I do, but that’s not what this is about.
“No. It’s just an item that you cannot acquire easily.” I said, revealing the terminal on my left forearm.
“That? I thought it was some sort of summoning device. Does it use monster corpses as a power source or something?” She asked.
“Yeah. Pretty much.” I answered. A bit of a lie, but better than having them realize that I’m a dungeon founder. I don’t know how they will react if they hear about that. And it does use monsters as fuel. Just not for the summoning part.
“Is that why you are able to summon a heavenly dragon?” Tye, who had overheard us, asked.
“No. It just helps me summon multiple monsters at once.” I answered. Without it, I can only summon two. Well, with Infinite Cards I could probably summon as many monsters as I want to. It does remove the hand size limit.
“Oh, I see. How many monsters can you summon at the same time, if you don’t mind me asking?” Tye asked.
“Seven, I think. But the most I’ve ever summoned at once is three.” I answered.
“Then why do you say seven?” He asked.
“Well, I know I can summon at least 5, but I think I can manage seven.” I said. I mean, I do have five slots on my duel disk.
“Could you show me?” Tye asked.
“I could, but not now. I am kind of on the job.” I said.
“Does that mean later is good?” He asked.
“Sure. Why not.” I said.
“Then, would you also show your heavenly dragon to me?” He asked.
“Why? You have already seen it.” Lua commented.
“No, I haven’t.” Tye said. “When would I have seen it?”
“Yesterday. That small dragon was a form of Brian’s heavenly dragon. Isn’t that right Brian?” Lua said.
How did she realize? I should just ask. “Well, yeah. But how did you figure that out?”
“It looks similar, just smaller, and the attack order you gave was the same as with the big dragon.” Lua reasoned.
“So… let me get this straight. You summoned a small heavenly dragon for a duel?” The archer girl asked.
“Pretty much.” I said.
“I see… and what about those dogs?” She asked.
“Nah. Don’t worry about that part.” I said.
“Didn’t you say they are tributes or something?” Tye asked.
“Well, kind of.”
“Are you just using some of your summons as tributes for your other summons? Is that how you can summon heavenly dragons?” Tye asked.
“Well, yes, but also no. I had to do it with that dragon, because it is special. My other dragons I can summon without any tributes.” I answered.
“Ah. I got it. So by tributing the small dogs you were able to shrink down your heavenly dragon. I see.” Try came to his own conclusion.
“Yeah. Something like that.” That sounds correct, so I can just go with that. And as I didn’t say it, I didn’t have to lie about it. Not that I mind lying, but better avoid it in case I run into a skill that lets people see through lies.
Back on the carriage. Again.
But this time, I’m going to open my daily packs. I did ask Lua if that is fine (with Laura and her System Support transfering the messages), just in case. I don’t want to make her angry.
For the set of the day, I actually have no idea. I wanted to go with a set that has great cards for installs, but most of the cards I really want are super or ultra rares.
For instance, Labyrinth of Nightmare has United We Stand and Mage Power, as well as Magic Cylinder. But the two spells are ultra rares, and Cylinder is secret rare.
But the set I’m going to open up with, heh open, is Legacy of Darkness. It has some good rares, like Magic Reflector (yes, I have one already, but more is nice), The A. Forces and Fusion Sword Murasame Blade.
There is also the common Nutrient Z. That would be great as a set card, as that should save me from situations like what I faced yesterday. Having enough copies of it, so that I could set it on myself, Lua, Alice and Alex wouldn’t be too bad. Even if I won’t use a toploader on any of them, but mine, as others can’t reset them. I think. Maybe if they can level up Card Summoner, they’ll be able to set and install cards as well. Installs are less useful, but being able to re set a card would be great. Actually, does a card need to be re set? Threatening Roar hasn't been activated, so I’m not sure. Perhaps they just go on cooldown and re set themselves. All Scrap-Iron Scarecrow style.
