“I must once again apologize for disturbing your sleep.” I heard a somewhat familiar voice calling me. Well, us, in this case.
I was in the same doorless and windowless parlor room where I had been just a few nights prior, but this time, all three of us were here. Lua, Alice and I.
“Oh. Hello, Aulis. Here again, huh?” I greeted the older gentleman.
“Yes. Now that all of you are somewhat situated, I believe this would be a good time.” He said, as he guided us to the circular table.
Unlike last time, when he stood while talking to me, this time, all four of us took a seat around the circular table.
“... Brian? What is this place?” Alice was the first to question what was going on.
“Didn’t I ever tell you about this?” I asked. I know I told Lua, but… yeah. I must never have told her. “Well, this is…”
“Please. Let me.” Aulis said, before he magiced us some tea. He then quickly recapped a lot of what I’d already heard last time.
Lua knew all of it already, so the only surprised one was Alice.
“... so, what is new? Has the Goddess come up with a time when we can meet?”
“No. Not yet. But she did ask me to tell you some things.” Aulis said. “First. She has some plans regarding Dungeon 27_001 and she would like you to work on it soon.”
“Alright. Sure.”
“What dungeon is that?” Alice asked.
“The one in the middle of the Ever forest. The one where we hunted those insects a while back.” I reminded her.
“... oh that. So we have to clear it?” Alice asked.
“Yes. That is what the Goddess would like you to do. Holder Brian already has a mission concerning it, but we will send Holder Lucia and Holder Alice Mana a mission as well.”
“... alright. Some extra incentive. That’s nice. Did she give us a time frame or anything?”
“No. Not as of yet.” Aulis said. “But she would like it done with haste, if possible.”
“Sure.”
Other than that, we didn’t really get much from Aulis. But that is enough for now.
But before he sent us off, I asked about something that had bothered me. His name, as well as the name of his Holder.
“Aulis, the last name of your lady, was it possibly Numminen?” I asked.
“No. The last name my lady took when she became a sage was Lindberg.” Aulis answered. “May I know why you asked?”
“... it’s nothing. Forget it.” I just answered.
The reason those names, Ritva and Aulis, had bothered me is because they were the names of Laura’s grandparents. While I never did meet Aulis, as he had passed away before I ever visited, I did meet with Ritva. She was a nice older lady, and she was super happy to see Laura with a partner. So I thought maybe there is a chance Ritva had either reincarnated, or otherwise been transferred to this world, where she then named her System Support after her husband.
But the last names don’t match, so I don’t think that is the case. Not like Ritva is that rare of a name in that area. Even just Laura’s family had two of them, both her grandmother and her aunt-in-law. I honestly wouldn’t have asked, but because the other name also matched, it had really bothered me. But considering that she chose her last name, there should be no way that it is the same Ritva. … and even if it is, she has already passed.
After my little question, Aulis sent us back to dreamland.
Soon enough, we woke up. Not that I actually know what is soon and what isn’t. Sleep is weird.
Alice began talking about this strange dream she had, but after Lua and I told her that it was real, she seemed to really understand that our meeting with Aulis was more than just a dream.

“... so, what will we do?” Alice asked.
“First, did you two get the missions Aulis promised?”
“Yes. I got mine.” Lua confirmed.
“... I … oh? Yes.” Alice said.
“Then that should be what we do. But we will also have to find out what the other people think we should do. I mean Alice’s grandfather, and other nobles. We are still under their jurisdiction and all as well. Then we can balance those two things out.” I decided. “... then there is also the dhampir problem to take care of… We really should make ourselves a base of some kind. One where we can temporarily take the dhamips, so it will be easier to cure them, and teach them True Blood Magic as one bigger group.”
“... like the place from my dream?” Lua asked.
“Yeah. Something like that.” I agreed. Though I didn’t hear anything about dhampirs, or blood magic practice, there was both swordsmanship and magic practice that Lua mentioned, so having blood magic wouldn’t be that strange. “And those avatar dolls… where did we get those?”
“If you don’t mind me cutting in Master.” Agunan interrupted. “They might be based on our dragon avatars. They are a sort of doll that we put our soul into, to turn it into a dragon avatar.”
“... Really? Yeah. That could be it.” I said. “We need to also visit the dragons then.” Let’s just hope it won’t turn into another fight.
During breakfast, which we had with the more usual group of Sawyer family members, we spoke a bit about the future. I was still skating around the problem of both Alice and Lua having their System Supports, so I just told everyone that the System wants me to conquer the dungeon in the middle of the Ever forest. That led to some questions, as I never told them about the dungeon I located there, but as that area is in no way part of Ruiso Kingdom, or any other country as far as anyone knew, it was free for me to do as I wished with. And with the System telling me to do something with it, most people would stay out of the way, even if they could get there.
“... so anyway, that leads me to this. Is there something I should be doing, in terms of being a noble?” I asked. “I know I have to meet His Majesty the King at some point, but I can fly to the capital in a day, so that won’t be a problem. But other than that..?”
“You can get to the capital in a day?” Mariina quickly questioned.
“...yes. More like an hour or less, actually. Well, I would need a map for accurate estimation, but still. A day is easy, unless the capital is on the other side of the planet or something.” And considering that Gradius can safely reach an atmospheric speed of mach 20 before the atmospheric dampeners can no longer prevent sonic booms, even the other side of the planet should only be about an hour away. Assuming this planet is around the same size as earth.
“... why am I not that surprised anymore?” Paulina questioned.
“You get used to it.” Lua answered.
“Still. To get to the capital that quickly? Can a dragon even fly that fast?” Thomas asked that question of Agunan.
“Humanoids and your cities… I wouldn’t know. I’ve never been there.” Agunan answered.
“How long did it take you to get here from the dungeon in the forest?” I asked.
“We don’t time things, like you do. We left the coast in the morning of the day we arrived here. That is what I know.” Agunan said. "But we most certainty did not fly at our top speed. It was a nice slow flight, like a slow jog for you humans."
Well, I know about how far the Ever forest dungeon is, and I have flown a bit past that, so I do know the dragon coast place is further than 2000 km away, and considering that the dragons arrived in the early afternoon… yeah. I’ll calculate it when I have the exact distance, but I think dragons fly basically just under mach 1. That would make sense, because going over mach 1 might be difficult, or consume too much energy. Based on what Agunan said, they can do it, but going that fast would be like sprinting, or something.
But anyway, back to making plans. In short, I don’t really have much I need to do in terms of being a noble. Other than my promise to the second Prince to take him dragon riding, and meeting with His Majesty at some point, I can basically just do whatever I want. … within reason, of course.
There will be a second party tomorrow, which I should take part in. You know, to make up for the one Agunan interrupted. Then a lot of the nobles will be leaving in the days after that.
And then, I can just leave for the Ever forest dungeon, and clear it.
Well, I’m actually happy with that. Then the plan for now will be this. First, deal with the Prince and wait for everyone to leave. Second, evolve. Third, that dungeon. Fourth, … everything else.
Because our plan was… open, Lua, Alice and I decided that our first focus, while waiting for the Prince to leave, was to just practice.
Lua had the best handle on everything at this moment, but she still wanted to get better with using Light Magic, as well as try to look into Holy Magic. Sadly, none of my monsters use Holy Magic, as it does seem to be limited to this world, so I cannot cheat with them. But for Light Magic, Thomas’ sixth daughter Violet was working with Lua. Violet wasn’t a sage or anything, but she was quite good at Light Magic. She had in fact been in a different town practicing under a B-rank adventurer. Between her, and my light attribute monsters, Lua was set. For that, I went ahead and summoned Silent Magician LV8. Because of its summoning condition, I had to use two Pitch-Black Power Stones, transfer the Spell Counters to Silent Magician LV4, and then use LV4 to summon LV8. I actually first used Level Up!, but that didn’t color the toploader around my Silent Magician LV8, so I had to resummon the LV8 again properly with the LV4’s effect.
