Chapter 224: When The Rain Falls

"You frightened me to death!" Xiao Ni hissed to Xia Sha as the two of them slumped into a bench outside the doctor's room. 

Xia Sha took a glance at the paper on her hand as she frowned, "I also got frightened to death! You can't blame me. It's because of your brother!" 

Xiao Ni looks at her with a dirty look, as if she wanted to say, 'It takes two to tango. Do you think he can get you pregnant alone?!' but decided to let Xia Sha win her ego. 

The two of them sat shoulder by shoulder, still trying to recover from the shock. Xiao Ni stared at the wall blankly as she murmured, "I thought I'm going to be an aunt."

Xia Sha's lips twitched when she heard Xiao Ni's remark. Her eyes traveled to her flat stomach while her eyes turn bleak. She will never tell anyone that she had a deep conversation with her non-existence baby in the morning. 

She also thought she is going to be a mother!

Xia Sha tried to surpass the uncomfortable embarrassment that filled her heart by controlling her breathing. In her calm state, she began to felt her body relaxed before she felt her stomach acting up again. 

It's not nausea that urges her to run to the bathroom this time. Instead, it's something flowing out of her. 

Xiao Ni look confused when Xia Sha look panicked as she stood up from her seat. Xia Sha got all flushed before she unwillingly told Xiao Ni, "I think my great aunt just come." 

Xiao Ni, who almost had a heart attack as soon as she woke up, rushing to fetch Xia Sha to hospital and dealing with a roller coaster of emotion, was speechless. 

"Do you believe that I would kill you right now?" Xiao Ni mumbles under her breath with a threatening face. 

"Sorry," Xia Sha chuckles as she head to the bathroom. A smile that instantly disappears when she sat alone in the closet after she finished all her business. 

Xia Sha did not understand why, but she just felt an empty hallow expending on her chest as she rubs her stomach gently. It's such a weird feeling of attachment to something that hasn't even existed yet. But she felt like mourning, yet, relief at the same time. 

She knew both Guan Xian or her aren't ready for a child. God, they haven't even finalized their prenup agreement yet. 

But again, when will they ever know that they are ready? 

There is a small part of her who hopes that a baby could force her to be ready. 

Xia Sha was stunned by her thought as she got up from her seat. Her mood was shifting every second. She did not even realize when did she call Guan Xian. All she knew when she heard his voice, she felt peaceful. 

"Hello? Baby? Where are you? I went to your apartment and your office, but I couldn't find you anywhere. Are you still angry at me? Need some time alone?" 

There is a hint of playfulness in Guan Xian's tone when he mentions 'time alone.' 

"Shut up," Xia Sha replied in fake annoyance as she realized Guan Xian had made her smile the instant she heard his voice. 

"Are you sure? The island is still vacant if you ever need a place to be alone."

"... I need to tell you something important," Xia Sha said in her serious tone, fighting her inner goddess who wanted to add 'stop make me want to laugh.' at the end of the sentence. 

"Okay, I'm near your mother's residence. We can have a conversation after I arrive."

"What? What are you doing there? I'm not at my mother or father's place."

Guan Xian and Xia Sha wrinkle their nose at the same time in a different place. Xia Sha couldn't believe that Guan Xian drives one hour long to from the city to her mother's house just because he couldn't find her. It touches her heart. Deeply. But at the same time, it makes her nervous when Guan Xian dropped the million-dollar question she needs to tell anyway. 

"So? Where are you?" 

Xia Sha took a moment of silence after she looked at her reflection in the mirror. Thank goodness she is alone in the bathroom so she could bear herself to let her heart racing as she answers to Guan Xian. 

"I'm actually with Xiao Ni right now, at the-" Xia Sha took a deep breath before she continued her sentence.

"I'm at the hospital." 

"Hospital?! Why? What's wrong? Why don't you call me sooner? Which hospital? I'm coming there right now!" 

Panic is the only thing Xia Sha heard from Guan Xian's voice. Along with her fast pacing heartbeat, Xia Sha bites her lips and lets Guan Xian hear her fear as she confesses to him. 

"No, I'm alright. This morning, my period track apps said I'm late for twenty days. I thought I might be pregnant because of nausea and sickness. But turned out it's only a false alarm," Xia Sha explain with a soft tone, weighed it down heavily on Guan Xian's heart. 

Guan Xian pulled over to the side of the streets to stop and listen to Xia Sha. Patiently, he waited until Xia Sha finished her sentence before he asks, "Are you okay? Should we take a day off today for ice cream and chill?" 

There is a trace of gentle and carefulness in every word he said. His warmth is enough to make Xia Sha felt better as she shook her head and mumbles an answer to his question. 

"Maybe tonight after work. Can you drop by?" Xia Sha asked and waited for Guan Xian's answer like a child. 

Xia Sha didn't want to deny it and claimed that she is alright when she isn't. And obviously, Guan Xian is smart enough not to point it out.

"Of course, babe, anytime for you. I'm going to you right now. Can you tell me what hospital you are in right now? If you can't, I'll ask Xiao Ni. I bet she could," Guan Xian come back to his witty and playful answer. 

"Nah, don't go here. I'm going to my office after this. I still need to finish the prenup file today. Also, you are an hour-long away,"

"I don't want to waste time waiting." 

"You don't want to waste time waiting."

Guan Xian said at the same time as Xia Sha. Xia Sha went silent for a second before she started to laugh. She laughed so hard that she didn't realize tears drop from the corner of her eyes. 

Xia Sha did not know how she could be this upset when there is nothing to be sad about. She didn't expect a baby, but yet, when there are tiny hopes of living proof of Guan Xian and her loves inside of her, she suddenly wears whole iron armor to protect it.

An unexpected hope that she never wished for appearing and disappear at the same time. She did not know she could feel this feeling before. 

"I think I need to visit a psychologist while I'm here. I-" Xia Sha did not realize she had cried without a sound. And as if someone had ripped her body into two, she is begging for help. 

A frantic and chaotic of Kai Xin on the hospital that night filled her head. She seems to be stuck at the moment, where she heard Kai Xin's screams and cried in pain. 

It rang loudly, causing her head to split as she sees an innocent baby crying for help at her. 

"I don't know why I feel so emotional. Please bear with me," Xia Sha tried to wipe her tears as she looks at her reflection in the mirror. 

Guan Xian went silent at the other side. He quietly listens to Xia Sha's quivering voice holds his breath. "You are not emotional. You are human, and we are allowed to feels pain." 

Xia Sha listen to Guan Xian as she took a moment to calm her head. She returned to herself as she let water runs through her palm before she sobered up. 

"Let's grab lunch together later, okay?" Guan Xian asked after he felt Xia Sha has calmed down. 

"Okay," Xia Sha nod her head before she ended the call. 

She had not expected that she would see Guan Xian so soon after she arrived at the office. 

Her bag dropped to the floor as soon as Guan Xian pulled her inside his embrace. She did not know what she should be feeling and what she feels that second. All she knew is that she felt tired, and inside Guan Xian's warm embrace, she felt recharged. 

And for that, she couldn't felt more grateful, for knowing that she would always have a home to protect her when the rain falls or the storms blocking her way. 

"Thank you, thank you for always being here when I need you," she mumbles as she circled her arm around his waist.
