"With each step we take, each word we speak,

Our actions ripple out, with far-reaching peak.

So be mindful of the trail you leave behind,

For every choice you make, a consequence you'll find."

“We’ve arrived.”

“Indeed we have…” Madison replied to Esther, as she cast a discerning gaze in my direction. I surmised that Madison and I were entertaining the same thought, "The abode appears desolate and abandoned." Nevertheless, the pang of nostalgia overpowered this initial impression, and the sight of my esteemed mother waiting at the door with a warm smile brought an overwhelming sense of comfort.

…..

"It appears Thomas will have to depart on his own, as his dwelling is located elsewhere." Instructed Esther. I looked towards Thomas and offered, "Thomas, allow me to provide you with the address so that-"

“There is no need." Interjected Esther, "The address is 10, xxxxxx, xxxxx, Castle Combe.”

Esther must have already been privy to the information.

"As for your abode, Thomas, it should be 12, The Mews, Bath." She added kindly.

“Many thanks, Esther…” I responded to her kind action.

“You're welcome, Dante. I merely wanted to know the address so that I could pay you a visit whenever I desire.”

This was a peculiar request, and I couldn't help but wonder why she would want to see me so frequently.

“I see.”

"Has your father informed you of your duties regarding our household?" Esther queried.

"Duties regarding your household?" I echoed, befuddled.

“What’s that about?” Both Madison and Thomas inquired.

"Father wants you, Dante, to serve as a servant in our household." She explained, "As you will no longer be employed at Lucent, he thought it would be a means for you to earn an income."

Earn an income, she says...

I was filled with a sense of contentment, but not a trace of animosity. It was a strange turn of events to suddenly be called upon to serve in their household.

Why would I suddenly be called to serve his house? It does not seem logical.

This has to be the Devil’s doing. It cannot be otherwise… This must be his sign!

…..

"Dante, you seem to be dozin' off again." Thomas nudged me, bringing me back to reality.

“Oh, uh… no, I’m fine.” I replied, shaking my head.

“Why does Dante need to serve your house? What’s the meaning of this?!” Madison exclaimed.

“Indeed! But if he goes, I will go as well!” Thomas responded.

“But how will you manage with your injury?” Esther asked.

“W- well…”

Knock knock knock

It was Dennis, knocking on the window, instructing us to leave the carriage.

“Anyways, Father will explain this further.”

We stepped outside, with me getting Thomas on his feet, both of his parents walked towards us, to take Thomas with their own carriage.

“Hey, Dante, a house is what the people inside make of it, right?” James assured me. Again, I didn’t care about the appearance of the house much…

“Agreed. I hope your abode will serve you all well, as well.”

“Many thanks! Thomas, it’s time to leave. We’ve been given Dante’s address, let’s visit them tomorrow, okay?”

“Sure, dad… Hey, Dante. I’ll be back soon, alrightie?”

“Of course Thomas, let’s explore the place together.”

“Hehe!”

…..

Madison and I made our way inside the house, where our mother stood at the entrance. Our father had already proceeded inside to check on my siblings. She greeted me with a warm embrace.

“Aaah, Dante! Seems like we’re not at our old place anymore, right?”

"Yes, Mother... But please refrain from standing so often independently, as you may cause an injury..."

“It’s fine! I don’t care as long as I can have you in my arms, Dante! Come, let’s see this place further...”
