Chapter 3 – Skipping Class

TL: Qian

“Ah!”

When Mu Qi passed the ball to Hu Ying, she heard a shout behind her. She turned around to see Su Yanxi crouching on the ground with her hands clutching her head.

She didn’t want to bother with this girl, but when she saw the girl’s red eyes that looked directly at herself she could only sigh helplessly and said a few words before walking over.

Class President, Xiao Nan, pushed up his glasses and also walked over to check on the situation.

“Student Su, are you okay?” Xiao Nan asked as she appeared in front of Su Yanxi.

Mu Qi squatted in front of the girl and tore away the hands covering the girl’s forehead. She frowned when she saw that the girl’s forehead was bleeding and sighed again. She then turned around so that her back was facing the girl and said, “Get on.”

Su Yanxi looked at the other person’s back and climbed on without any hesitation while the corners of her lips lifted up subtly,

“Student Mu…please take Student Su to the infirmary. I will explain to the teacher about your absence.” Class President Xiao Nan said solemnly as he pushed up his glasses again.

The corners of Mu Qi’s lips twitched, “Thanks, Prez.” After saying her thanks, she lifted herself and the girl up and walked away.

Class President Xiao Nan watched them leave with a serious and dignified face.

Hu Ying patted him on the shoulder, “Hey, Prez, do you want to play some basketball?”

“I don’t know how to play.” Xiao Nan glanced at the basketball in her hands.

“Oh, then I guess I’ll just play with the others then.” After saying so, Hu Ying turned around and walked back towards the court with an easygoing smile on her face.

Their Class President is like a little old man, always so serious day in and day out. It was rather fun to tease that stiff-faced boy.

Xiao Nan looked at the basketball while in deep contemplation.

Meanwhile, on the other side.

“After the nurse bandages your wound, make sure to stay in the infirmary. I’ll be going out for a while. If anyone asks, tell them I went to the toilet.” Mu Qi said as she carried the girl on her back.

“Are you going to skip class?” Su Yanxi asked faintly.

“What’s it to you?” Mu Qi retorted impatiently.

Su Yanxi’s mouth flattened into a straight line and then quietly studied the other person’s face from the side. She thought about something and then leaned close to the other person’s ear, “Can I come?”

Mu Qi glanced at her in surprise and saw the expectant look on the girl’s face, but then said without hesitation, “No!”

“Then I will tell the teacher that you’re skipping class.” Su Yanxi replied.

“Fine, guess I’ll let you down now then.” Mu Qi gestured that she was going to drop the girl.

Su Yanxi quickly wrapped both of her legs around Mu Qi’s waist and then tightly hooked her arms around the other party’s neck. She was afraid that the other party would really drop her and then quickly said, “Don’t let go! I won’t tell them anything.”

“En.” Only after getting what she wanted did Mu Qi straighten back up and continue walking again with a smile on her face.

After arriving in the infirmary, the nurse disinfected Su Yanxi’s forehead with medicine while Mu Qi stood quietly to the side.

When the alcohol touched her wound, Su Yanxi’s face twisted with obvious pain.

“Alright, don’t let any water get on the wound and as long as you….” The nurse listed off a bunch of instructions before leaving the two of them behind in the infirmary. When the nurse was no longer in sight, Mu Qi made her way to the door.

“Are you leaving now?” Su Yanxi’s forehead was still hurting, but she was more concerned about Mu Qi’s movements than her pain.

“I’m not taking you with me.” Mu Qi paused and realized that her words sounded a little too harsh and then continued, “I’ll bring you back something delicious to eat.” After saying those words, she left without another glance.

Su Yanxi: “…..”

“She was so much cuter when she was younger!” Su Yanxi complained in a quiet voice.

Mu Qi climbed over the wall that wasn’t covered by the school’s cameras and then realized she didn’t have anywhere to go.

However, when she thought about how she would see those two tonight, she couldn’t stay at school for another moment. She wandered down the currently empty streets and decided to enter an internet cafe that was located not too far away from the school.

“Manager, give me a computer.” Mu Qi slammed a ten yuan bill onto the table and then swept a gaze around the cafe. When she saw a certain person, her lips twitched slightly.

“Here you go.”

Mu Qi grabbed the key card and then walked over to the corner. She pulled out a chair and then sat down.

“Fuck! Kill him, kill him! We can’t just let him steal all of our equipment!”

Mu Qi glanced at that person’s computer screen and smiled to herself.

“What are you looking at-” The person uttered only a few words when she saw that it was Mu Qi. She cursed a few more times and then stood up to face Mu Qi.

“Don’t be so agitated. What’s with all the cursing? Sit down.” Mu Qi patted the other party’s shoulder and said.

“Why are you here!” Qi Wei stared at her with widened eyes, clearly surprised at seeing Mu Qi here.

“Why can’t I be here?” Mu Qi lit a cigarette calmly and replied.

“Fuck!” Qi Wei cursed under her breath again and then responded to the voices of her teammates coming from her earphones, “You guys keep playing, I got some business to take care of.”

“Tsk, can’t you fix that attitude of yours?” Mu Qi turned on her own computer, and then tilted her head to look at the other person’s screen. Seeing the not at all original name of the party, she choked on her own saliva. After coughing for a long while, she said with a smile, “Your gamertag is quite interesting!”

“Stop being so weird!” Qi Yi glared at her.

“Wanna fight?” Mu Qi raised an eyebrow.

Flames instantly ignited in Qi Wei’s eyes as her face brightened and she rolled up her sleeves and stood up, “If you wanna fight, let’s fight then! Today, this old lady will beat you up until you’re on your knees begging for mercy!”

Mu Qi clicked on her game and then looked up at Qi Wei, “Then I’ll see you in the game.”

Qi Wei: “…..”

“….I’ll be there in a sec.” Qi Wei rolled her sleeves back down and then sat down again. She clicked out of her current game and then clicked on the League of Legends icon.

“Solo?” Mu Qi glanced over at her.

“Come at me!” Qi Wei clicked furiously on her mouse, like she was going to smash her mouse into pieces in the next moment.

Ten minutes later, Mu Qi defeated Qi Wei so badly that the other didn’t even have the strength to fight back.

“Again!” Qi Wei glared at her in dissatisfaction.

“Sure.” Mu Qi smiled carefreely and then started another game.

This time, the game finished in eight minutes and Qi Wei began to question the meaning of life.

“Again!”

“Ok.”

And so the two of them continued to play solo games until unknowingly a group of people had gathered behind them. After Qi Wei lost again for the umpteenth time, she turned around and saw the crowd behind her. She immediately grew angry and said furiously, “What are you looking at! Beat it!”

The crowd hurriedly dispersed under her heated gaze.

“Why are you always so violent?” Mu Qi said as she leaned back in her chair.

Qi Wei glared at her and then left without a second glance.

Mu Qi shrugged and then in her boredom, started watching a movie.

About halfway through her movie, her cell phone vibrated a couple of times. She unlocked her phone and saw that it was Hu Ying who had texted her. The messages said that if she doesn’t come back soon, Old Man Li will have a ‘talk’ with her.

Mu Qi returned to the school using the same route from earlier, and saw Old Man Li in the distance. The old man didn;t essay anything and then turned his head and left while holding a thermos in his hands.

Mu Qi: “….”

“Annoying.” Mu Qi scratched her head and then put her hands in her pockets as she slowly trudged up the stairs.

“Qi-ge, you’re back, where did you go?” When Hu Ying saw her, she immediately circled around Mu Qi and began asking questions.

“Went out to play for a while.” Mu Qi walked over to her seat and was about to sit when she stopped, “Where is she?”

“Eh?” Hu Ying didn’t understand the question at first and then blinked, “Oh, she hasn’t come back after you carried her to the infirmary.”

“She hasn’t returned?” Mu Qi turned around and went towards the door.

“Qi-ge, where are you going?” Hu Ying shouted after the leaving figure.

“I’ll be back soon.” Mu Qi left the classroom.

She thought to herself, was the girl still resting in the infirmary? Then she remembered she had said she would bring back some delicious food and pressed a hand to her temple as she felt her head begin to ache.

Forget it, let’s get that person back in class first.

“Where are you going?” Li Wei, her homeroom teacher, came out of the teacher’s office and called out after her.

“I’m going to the infirmary.” After saying so, she made her way to the infirmary.

She’s already on her teacher’s blacklist, so it doesn’t matter if she’s tardy to class again.

She returned to the infirmary and saw that the girl was still lying on the bed. When the girl saw Mu Qi, her eyes lit up, “You’re back!”

“Why didn’t you return to class?” Mu Qi asked her.

“If I go back to class, that’ll expose you and then you’ll get in trouble.” Su Yanxi said.

Mu Qi blinked and then frowned, “Are you feeling better now? Can you go back to class?”

“Yeah.” Su Yanxi immediately jumped up from the bed and then glanced at Mu Qi’s empty hands.

“What’s wrong?” Mu Qi looked down at her hands.

“Where’s the food?” Su Yanxi asked.

“I’ll make it up to you later.” Mu Qi’s face darkened. So this transfer student is a bit of a glutton.

“Oh, as expected, you forgot.” Su Yanxi whispered.

Mu Qi heard every word and her face darkened even more.
