Chapter 7: Chapter 7: The New Kid, Again.

"Agh!"

I woke up with a start, my heart pounding in my chest. It took me a moment to realize that it must have been just a nightmare, but the feeling of terror lingered. I tried to shake it off and sat up in bed, but a sharp pain in my head made me groan and fall back onto the pillow.

My head felt like it was about to burst. It was a pounding, throbbing pain that seemed to radiate through my entire skull. I closed my eyes and tried to take deep breaths, hoping that the pain would subside. But it only seemed to get worse.

I lay there for what felt like an eternity, my head pounding and my body covered in a cold sweat. I couldn't quite remember the details of the nightmare, but I knew it had been a bad one. I just wanted the pain to go away.

Eventually, I must have drifted off again, because the next thing I knew, I was being shaken awake. "John, are you okay?" It was my mom, a concerned expression on her face.

"I don't know," I groaned. "I have a massive headache."

"Do you need to stay home from school today?" She asked, a worried look on her face.

"No! I need to go to school," I replied, determined to push through the pain. If I'm not there, then Emily could be in danger from the cult. I need to make sure she's safe. Plus, it's my second day as an official member of the Volunteers Club. I can't slack off now.

Despite the pounding headache, I got up and went downstairs to eat breakfast, still wondering about what the contents of the nightmare might have been about.
