Chapter 2: #01 — Eternal Dreamer

Shiro took the glove. His next move was wearing it in his right hand, as he slowly did so, he felt an undescribable sensation, as if the artifact was bonding with him.

The Sacred Gear glued on his right hand. Flashes started appearing in his eyes while immeasurable coursed through Shiro's whole body.

"GRAAAAH!" Shiro groaned loudly, he was undergoing immense pain as his body was reconstructing itself into a more suitable build for this incredible power.

The pain eventually died after a few minutes, Shirt breathed heavily.

[ Ding! You Have Obtained A New Sacred Gear! ]

[Name: Eternal Dreamer]

[Grade: EX (Above Longinus) ]

[Description: A sacred gear created by 'external forces' . The embodiment of the legendary Great Red's powers combined in a single weapon.]

All these info dumps made a massive headache shake Shiro's mind. Gaining power was a wonderful process, but it was also painful if the power was too much to handle.

He stood up on his feet then took the time to read the new messages as well as all the changes that occured to his stats.

[VIT: 2,500]

[STRENGTH: 1,000]

[SPEED: 1,000]

[ENDURANCE: 1,200]

[INTELLIGENCE : 1,800]

[MANA: 500]

These were the changes applied to Shiro's status. He was amazed by the sudden gain of power he had obtained. All stats increasing tenfold without a single level up was incredible.

"Incredible..." He exclaimed.

"These abilities are truly broken, incomparable to Issei's sacred gear!" Shiro added.

Sure, there were restraints but the abilities completely made up for them!

"Unlimited creation..." Shiro mumbled. He lifted his hand and pointed forward.

By manipulating the warm and remarkable flow of mana inside his body, Shiro succeeded in powering up his new sacred gear. "Create sword!" He chanted.

[Eternal Dreamer] lit up and glowed instantly, it shook as particles started appearing, merging and making a sword. "It's working!" Shiro exclaimed, impressed.

The sword took shape and formed a sharp blade with golden handle and crimson aura surrounding it. But the creation of such a weapon cost him alot when it comes to energy.

Shirt kneeled on the ground and breathed heavily. This cost him 300 mana. He was left with less than half. But just imagine how awesome his creations would become when he gets an even larger mana pool.

The possibilities were limitless! Creating a palace, mass-destruction weapons, or maybe even entire universes, who knows?

( So you, are my partner... )

This voice shook Shiro out of his thoughts. "Wh—Where did this voice come from?" He asked, confused.

( Your precious sacred gear... )

The voice spoke once again, Shirt shifted his gaze towards his sacred gear which was glowing in a green light with each word.

"Ddraig?" Shiro asked.

( HAHAHAHA!! As if you could compare a poor heavenly dragon to the Dragon of Dragons. I am the Progenitor of All Dragons. A Primordial Deity instructed with the world's protection. I am, The Great Red! )

"Great Red. I see... Are you the strongest of this verse?" Shiro asked, to which Great Red immediately replied to hide all hesitance.

( I am. No creature stands above The Great Red. )

"How did you end up here, if you're the strongest?"

( Do not feel pity for The Great Red. My consciousness may be indefinitely trapped in [Eternal Dreamer]. But my physical body still exists, I can take shape whenever I want. )

"I see." Shiro looks around before adding. "I heard you say the word 'partner' earlier. Does that mean that we can rely on each other" He asked.

( I do not have another choice. There's no telling what could happen to me if you die while my soul is linked to your artifact. But I wanna tell you something, Shiro. )

( I'm willing to become your partner. However, I expect you to become the strongest of all. That is my condition. )

"I'll do it. I'll survive no matter what and certainly become powerful. You can count on me, so lend me your strength." Shiro spoke, receiving a silent nod in response.

For the next hour, Shiro successfully left the cave, thankfully he was only a few meters deep, creating a drill was enough to pierce the walls of the cave.

"Finally free" He exclaimed. Shiro found himself in the middle of a forest, he started hearing sounds coming from the bushes, and surroundings.

Alerted, Shiro used his energy to create smooth, sharp iron daggers, "Who's there?!" He shouted. Suddenly, a system notification popped in front of Shiro.

[[ Emergency Quest: End the imminent threats. ]]

[ Reward: 50 Gold . Failure: Death ]

"Threat?" Four creatures came out from the bushes, they looked humans, but those wings on their backs... Definitely not friendly lost humans.

"Look at that, it's a human!" A demon said.

"I thought we killed all of them here a few minutes ago?" Another replied.

"Who cares? That's a free punching bag"

"Right."

The demons surrounded Shiro, all having killing intent, though none of them really seemed to be taking the situation seriously. They all thought he was human because he didn't emit a particular aura.

Shiro was in fact human, for now. But a special one, possessor of an EX graded sacred gear.

( Weak... ) Great Red commented.

'He's right, I shouldn't take long killing them.'

Shiro grabbed his daggers then ran towards the first demon. His speed let him reach the Low-ranked devil in a second. "WH-WHAT?!!!" The demon cried.

But before anyone could react, he thrust his two daggers in his neck from both sides. The demon roared in pain, taking out his claws and slashing them around, but Shiro's advanced speed let him dodge all the attacks while leaving afterimages.

The low ranked devils shook from fear. This took them by surprise and they didn't expect a human to be so powerful. Shiro inserted the daggers even deeper in the demon's neck and decapitated his head, it flew to the air before falling next to the three while the body fell on the ground, splattering rivers of blood to the sky.

"HE'S NOT HUMAN! GUARD UP EVERYONE!" A devil shouted, he lifted his hands and made a dark spear appear in his palms. The demon locked his attack on Shiro, who was standing without flinching ever after murdering a demon.

"BASTARD!!" The devil shouted, throwing the spear.

Shiro saw the spear rushing at him, in slow motion. The kill let him regenerate a few of his mana, by empowering his eyes, he was able to lock his gaze on the spear and see it coming at him.

[ MANA: 150 ]

Shiro swiftly dodged it. But more was coming, his inhuman reflexes let him dodge every single low ranked spear attack and focus on a way for attack.

"I-I'm running low on energy!" 

"Goofy you weren't supposed to empty your reserves all at once!"

The attacks stopped. Shiro slammed his hands on the ground then scattered a minimum energy but enough to kill through the domain.

While his sacred gear glowed in green, the ground shook, shocking the three devils. But right after, their number dropped to two. Looking in the middle, the two devils saw a stone stalactite merging through the body of their fellow devil. A large stone spike pierced his body into two, blood coming out of every injury, dead.

"WH-WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING?!" The coward devil cried, having lost all his courage after seeing two devils like him dying in a second.

"WE HAVE TO LEAVE!" The second survivor shouted.

"You are not going anywhere" Shiro said, disappearing.

He reappeared in front of a devil. "GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME!!" The devil created a weakly powered orb of destruction and threw it at Shiro.

Shiro barely dodged it, but it still hit his torso and knocked him. His vitality decreased and the devils regained their courage. "He's not that powerful! Let's kill him!"

Shiro got up from the floor and wiped the blood from his mouth. He was prepared to attack before being interrupted by a loud noise coming from the sky. "ENOUGH!!" A voice shouted from above.

The three looked up and saw a figure descending to the ground. She landed on the floor and threw a deadly gaze at Shiro.

"M-My queen!" The two devils spoke solemnly while kneeling. This woman was clearly their lord. She was a very beautiful goddess, her appearance was gorgeous, having everything a man could lust for. And for some reason, Shiro felt very weird in her presence.

Swaying her hair, she asked with a perfect and mature voice, "Tell me... Are you the one that killed two of my men" She asked.

Shiro stood up and looked at her with a serious expression, "I did." he replied.

The woman stared at his eyes for a second before replying, "I see..." she said blankly.

"M-My queen! We were attacked while on patrol and he killed our com—" Before the demon could say a word more, his body exploded in storm of blood mist and insides.

"WHAT—" His friend also blew up, blood splashing everywhere even reaching Shiro.

He was shocked to see this. So this is how the devils operate, cold cruelty he was not used to.

'What the hell is happening?!' He thought.

"I'm sorry my men caused so much trouble. Please, accompany me, and I shall introduce myself." She spoke with a bitter smile drown on her face.
