I stood atop the tree, looking at the sun on the horizon with a sigh. Five years had passed in the blink of an eye since I was reborn, and it wasn't exactly fun being a baby again.

You had to act like one, which was already difficult, to begin with. It's not like I could say that I was reincarnated, right?

Thank goodness I managed to navigate those difficult first few years and now I am old enough to do everything that a baby cannot do, but still, in most situations, I have to act like a child. It's no biggie, though.

Ahem,

By the way, I am Nex Dalion, a regular kid from this world and not some godly prodigy hahaha...Anyways, this name was given to me by my parents. For my past life... Well, I don't remember much. I still have bits and pieces of my old life, but my name, friends, and family... I don't remember them. I don't even remember what kind of person I was back then or what kind of life I had.

I live in a small town called Reqy, nestled in the mountains below, surrounded by towering pines and rolling hills. The main street is lined with quaint shops and restaurants, including a bakery known for its delicious treats and bread. Despite the challenges I've faced, I find that living in this small town isn't so bad. I live peacefully, without any major problems so far.

Magic is a topic that particularly interests me. I mean, who wouldn't be interested in magic? It's MAGIC! But the magic in this world is different and yet the same in many ways. All people have what is called a "core," which comes in two types: Elemental and Rusper.

Elemental cores allow people to control elements like water, fire, earth, and lightning, depending on the specific type of elemental core they have. Rusper cores, on the other hand, allow people to perform magic like levitation, soul bending and transfer, shape-shifting, and so on. Everyone can have only one type of core, but the good thing about it is that it allows people to use magic. The downside is that it can't be easily used. A rare stone called a tazer has to be used to unlock a person's core, and most of these stones are in the possession of the government.

Even after a person's core is unlocked with a tazer, they can't use magic right away. The tazer has to be used again to help the person's body get used to the surging of mana within them. If a person doesn't use it after unlocking their core and attempting to use magic, the result can be deadly.

But a person can use magic without needing the stone if their body is already used to the mana. A special step must be taken for this as far as I know. All I know is that a person that used magic on their own is called an Advance Mage.

I've always been fascinated by magic and the power it holds. I've dreamed of one day unlocking my own core and becoming an Advance Mage, able to use magic without needing a stone. But for now, I'm stuck waiting for the stone to open my core. It's frustrating, I know, but I have to be patient.

Despite being a fantasy world, this world is more technologically advanced than Earth in some ways. For example, guns and nanoparticle-based armor exist, but swords, bows, and other more traditional weapons are also commonly used. The widespread use of guns has led to a more militarized society, with the military being the primary user of these weapons. However, traditional weapons are more widespread, with many civilians using them for self-defense or hunting.

The mix of advanced and more traditional technologies has created a unique culture. Some people prefer to rely on advanced technologies, while others prefer to use more conventional methods.

One thing that surprised me was that this world government is a monarchy, meaning a king or queen will rule over the world's various regions.

So you may ask how did I learn this?... well, I learned about this through my mother, who would often talk about Manas, the core, and other things. My father would often talk about the government and other political topics. I don’t know why they talked about this to a toddler but I can’t say that It wasn’t helpful. It helps me understand more about this world I am in

As I grew older, I became curious and asked my mother if I could read the books she was holding. She was hesitant at first cause to Imagine a toddler barely 4 years old asking you if he could read books. It’s weird, right?

But in the end, she relented and allowed me to read them. That’s where I began my journey toward books and knowledge.

One thing that was unfortunate was that the language here is similar to English on Earth, and many books are written in this language. Guess I was lucky

As I was lost in thought, I heard my mother's voice calling out to me from the direction of our house.

"Nex, time for breakfast," she called.

I hopped off the tree. The tree wasn't very tall, so I easily dismounted without any problems.

I then made my way toward my house. It wasn't that far and I arrived shortly after

As soon as I entered the house, I saw my mother stepping out of the kitchen, a giant pot in her hands.

That smell…can it be

"Is that Reku stew, Mom?" I asked, my eyes fixed on the pot she was holding

"Of course, honey," my mother replied with a smile, noting my eagerness. "You don't like it? I could throw it out if you don't want it."

"No!" I exclaimed, horrified at the thought.

"Sorry," I added sheepishly, feeling my cheeks flush with embarrassment at my outburst.

My mother chuckled, patting my hand affectionately. "I'm just messing with you, honey. Come on, eat up."

She placed a bowl of the fragrant, steaming soup in front of me, and I wasted no time in tucking it in. The flavors of the meat, vegetables, and secret ingredient exploded in my mouth with each spoonful, causing my taste buds to dance with delight.

My mother truly was the greatest chef in the world!

As I happily ate the meal my mother had prepared, she watched me with a fond smile. She also started eating soon after.

"So mom, when will dad be home?" I asked as I munched down some vegetables.

"He said he will come today," my mother replied a note of relief in her voice.

"Really?" I asked, my eyes lighting up at the thought of seeing my dad again.

It has been two months since I’ve seen him so…

As if on cue, a knock sounded at the door.

"Who is it?" my mother asked as she approached the door.

"It's me, dear," a deep voice answered.

I watched as the door opened, revealing a man with graying hair and a strong, rugged appearance.

I smiled as I recognized the person.

"Dad!" I called out, hopping off my chair and running to hug him.

My father was surprised by the hug, he didn't expect that I would hug him first as I had never done that before. Still, he hugged me back.

"Miss me already?" he said, grinning.

I don't know what he was grinning about, but I proceeded to hug him longer, like a minute, before letting go.

Why? Well, it's simple: I missed him. The moment I was born here, I grew attached to my parents as any child would.

"Well, being away for two months is quite a long time, dear," my mother said, relief evident in her voice. She was also glad he was safe.

"Haha, right," the father replied sheepishly. "We went on another expedition. I thought it would only take a week, but I guess it took two months."

He then let out a laugh and continued laughing before, without any warning whatsoever,  I saw my mom punch him in the stomach

'Ouch'

He immediately fell to the ground and by the look of my father's pained expression, it was quite a strong punch.

"That's for not telling me sooner," my mother huffs, then she kisses him on the lips. "That's for making it out alive."

After that, she returned to her seat,

My father and I looked at each other, and we both let out a small laugh

‘Come on you two, The food is getting cold” My mom called out

As I sat at the table, watching my parents happily chatting and enjoying their meal, I couldn't help but feel grateful. I may not remember my past life, but at least I will create memories of a new one.
