[Ah, that was fulfilling. I have to save these.] - Alvatria

G-go-good for you. I, on the oth-other hand, am so e-exhausted, that I can't stand straight.

"J-just don't spread those photos." - Garami

[Okey dokey! No way I'm gonna share these.] - Alvatria

G-good. That's one problem out of the way. I need my rewards, fast!

"Then, what about the payment?" - Garami

[Sure, sure. The skills are getting legalized as we speak. While skills can be given alongside blessings whenever we want, it takes some procedures before we can give out skills without a good reason. There's also the fact that a certain Dungeon that was responsible for drying up a good tenth of the continent, suddenly popped up on the radar, so the System Admins are a little busy right now.] - Alvatria

Ugh. Complaining here would just invite a big boomerang.

"In that case, what about those Champion items? Items, as in plural. You know, as in more than one?" - Garami

[I-I know, so stop nagging already! Hold your hands out.] - Alvatria

"Okay? Hmpf!" - Garami

From out of nowhere, a huge ore of metal fell into my hands. Damn hell, this thing's heavy as fuck! And this color isn't this-! And at this size!

"I-i-i-isn't this gold?!" - Garami

I'm holding something that looks like a huge nugget of gold, at the size of a gym bag! And heavy! Too heavy! Softly, I placed the nugget on the floor, so that it wouldn't be damaged.

[Sorry, but that's not gold.] - Alvatria

"WHAT!? It's not?!" - Garami

Damn it all to hell! Here I thought I had hit the jackpot, the GOLDEN jackpot! Tch, damn faker! I'm gonna kick you into-

[This is a little something called Pyrollusion Gold, a flame-aether infused ore that has a greater value than regular gold.] -Alvatria

orbi-, what did she say?!?!

*Slip*

Who-aaa!

*Crash!*

[What are you even doing?] - Alvatria

"N-nothing." - Garami

As I was in the middle of a kick that even a fantasista would approve, okay, maybe not that good, but anyway, I was in the middle of kicking the nugget, but stopped when Alvatria told me what it was. I didn't hit the Gold, but I didn't stop myself from falling.

"Th-then why do I get this Pyrollusion Gold thing?" - Garami

I don't think that anyone called a Champion would get something like this. Unless they're a Champion in gold mining, but that's not the case here.

[I thought that I should start with the bonus item first. And the reason for picking this is because it will work great with your reward for killing that snake.] - Alvatria

"You mean Glavras? Wasn't the reward undecided, and not retrievable yet?" - Garami

[That's more than half a day ago. They've fixed the reward by now.] - Alvatria

"Oh, that's good. Then, what's the relationship with that and the gold?" - Garami

[On hint: the reward to those who defeated the Disaster of Metal, including the corpse of it,-] -Alvatria

That must have been a lot of scrap-metal. The corpse I mean.

[- got a medallion that works like your storage skill. The difference is that the medallion can only store weapons,-] - Alvatria

What, that's all? So weak.

[-but, it can store up to a hundred of the same weapon, in just one slot. This is true for any weapon, from the hero's cypress stick, to an Excalibur. How many slots did Helpha say the medallion had again? A thousand?] - Alvatria

I take it back, that's wicked! The owner of that thing could store a hundred thousand weapons with that! The problem is to get those weapons, but isn't that medallion something like that hero king's treasury?

[Now that you have heard the hint, what do you think your reward will be?] - Alvatria

"If it's related to the Disaster, then..., that sealing amber?" - Garami

[Why would we give out the source of the problem?! We don't need another mystery Dungeon!] - Alvatria

"Good point. Then..., a Dungeon?" - Garami

[Bingo! Well, not a hundred present, but you're close. The reward is a water-element Dungeon Core.] - Alvatria

That's reasonable since the Disaster of Water is both Glavras and the Dungeon, in a set.

"And what does that have to do with the gold then?" - Garami

[Just appraise it, and you'll see.] - Alvatria

Hmm?

=====================================================================

Item Name: Pyrollusion Gold

Rank: B+

Type: Metal Ore

Durability: 600/600

Weight: 200

Effects:

Description: A nugget of gold that has been exposed to fire-aether for centuries.

The gold generates its own heat and is one of the few metals in the world that works as an aether-conductor. Due to these characteristics, the Pyrollusion Gold is much sought after by any kingdoms, but even more in kingdoms located in cold climates.

Pyrollusion Gold is also seen as a bringer off good luck, so even small pebbles of it are sought after by many, especially merchants and treasure hunters.

=====================================================================

That's one wacky piece of gold! I get why it's a B+ item, and that things are gonna be messy if people get to know that I have this much on me.

"Why do you even have so much of this stuff?" - Garami

[It was mined a few centuries ago, but during an earthquake, the nugget was lost into the depths of the earth. Since it was beyond the reach of mankind, I decided to take it myself.] - Alvatria

So, she snatched it when it was lost. This thing needs to lay in the storage for an indefinite amount of time. As said before, it's way too big to be sold on its own. Maybe I should break off some pieces, and sell them independently?

"I get that this thing is hot stuff, but what's the point?" - Garami

[Like. I. Said. Before the attributes of Dungeons are based on the Core, material, and founder of it. What kinda Dungeon would be made with this as a material, along with the Core you'll be rewarded?] - Alvatria

What kinda Dungeon would be made? If the Core is of the Water-Element, then...

"A Steam Dungeon?" - Garami

[WRONG! You could do that, but it's too much of a waste!] - Alvatria

"Then what? A hot spring Dungeon?" - Garami

[Finally, she understands.] - Alvatria

"Wait, you serious about that?" - Garami

[Didn't you notice? The monsters that can be spawned from a Dungeon are restricted to those related to the Dungeon Master, or those who live in the environment outside the Dungeon. Just think a little over it, what kinda monsters could a Dungeon spawn if you were the Dungeon Master.] - Alvatria

They do? When you mentioned it, the only monsters that should have been spawned from the Dungeon must have been the Glavras-types. We have turtles, raptors, and spiders.

While the two former ones can be written off as distant relatives of the Dungeon Master, since they're all some type of reptile, the spider should be from the fact that the outside once hosted the spider-monsters Kodokumo.

In that case, what kinda monsters could be spawned from a Dungeon I owned? Demon-types? Spiders? But what kinds? And from how much pressure Alvatria made on the hot spring-part, there must be something related to that.

Hot springs, hot springs, something related to me..., related? Wait a sec. You don't mean, like, related to Kur Kigal's? Demons related to Kur Kigal should be... no way?! Those demons?!

"Oi, goddess!! ...Are you a genius?" - Garami

[Fu-fu-fu. You finally noticed. Now, worship me, mortal!] - Alvatria

"I'm in awe, goddess Alvatria! All hail Alvatria!" - Garami

---

The praising lasted for so long, that I needed a small break from speaking. To think there was such a way to utilize this embarrassing family-line!

There are still some parts I'm uncertain about, but according to the goddess, the act of creating a Dungeon isn't seen as a crime. Many countries create Dungeons to use as their royal castle. That's one security system I don't wanna challenge, ever.

I also received information about how to make one myself, so I'll keep the nugget stored in my storage till that time. Most of this bad boy is gonna be used on my secret hideout Dungeon. 'The more of the material that's used to create a Dungeon, the greater the effects you get out of it', is what Alvatria said, so I'll keep as much as possible for that purpose. I'll break off small pieces in case I need money though.

On a different note, I managed to get the nugget into the storage, but how? This thing is of a higher rank than the T-Rex corpse, not to mention way more valuable. No way it needed fewer slots than the 100-slot corpse.

Did my storage increase in capacity? It did, didn't it? During my evolution, the Demon title changed, which granted me a stronger version of [Demonic Storage]. I think the name of it was, [Demonic Vault], or something like that? There are no other suspects than the Vault, so it must be the culprit.

Speaking of skills, I haven't checked out my current stats yet. One thing after another happened, so the thought of checking it left my mind completely. Better late than never, but there's also a limit for procrastinating stuff. [Appraisal].

Tch. I'm weaker than Virt or the T-Rex, when looking at the total amount of stat. Even with the boost from the items. Good thing I asked for those bonus skills. They'll help compensating that weakness. Hmm? If I didn't calculate this right, I should have 50 skills at the moment, not 54. Is this the Champion thing at work?

=====================================================================

Ignoring those I got from the evolution, and that upgraded Demon title, the new skills I have are, [Weaving LV1], [Silence LV1], [Aerial Movement LV1], [Darkness Resistance LV10], and [Darkness Divinity].

...Wasn't that last one somewhat broken? It has Divinity in its name. If one could chalk it up as being a Champion of Darkness (Alvatria), then I can accept it. But looking away from [Darkness Resistance], none of the skills are related, or even close to, the D in Darkness.

"Hey!" - Garami

[Back from dreamland?] - Alvatria

Ugh, did I take that long?

"Sorry. I looked over my new skills, and there's a lot of 'non-Darkness' skills here, despite being a Champion of it." - Garami

[Why should I give you skills that you're unfamiliar with? 'The skills given to a Champion shall be the ones that have the greatest chemistry with that Champion', was what Lux decided.] - Alvatria

"Is this 'Lux' the leader of the Ultimate Gods?" - Garami

[No, he's more like our rule maker, since he's one of the lesser troublemakers.] - Alvatria

"But he's still making some trouble? No wait, don't answer me that. I don't wanna know. Anyway, what about the Champion item?" - Garami

[Tch, she noticed.] - Alvatria

Hey, I heard that!

[Ahem, each Champion gets one item, specially designed after the Champion's strong points. The Ultimate Gods gives them an item, then the Champion names the item, granting them the unique powers. This also binds the items to their Champions, making them unusable for anyone else. Here.] - Alvatria

Whoa! Don't suddenly materialize stuff like that! I almost failed to catch it. This time, it wasn't something goddamn big and heavy, like the Pyrollusion Gold. Quite the opposite, it is something pocket-sized and light.

"...A notebook?" - Garami

I'm not kidding. What appeared was a small book with black bindings and a button lock. I think its size is around 10 x 15 cm.

[It's not like all the Champions receive are weapons. The Metal Champion, for instance, is a Blacksmith, so he got a hammer that enhances the items he makes with it, and that never loses durability when used for making items.] - Alvatria

Huh, so we don't get Excaliburs then. Kinda a downer. Wonder how strong weapons that Champion blacksmith can make.

"Then why is that book such a good fit for me?" - Garami

[That's because you're the type to collect information about the target, then killing it. If you didn't already have one of the strongest poison-related skills in the system, I would have thought of something related to that though. After poison, your best skill is either [Stealth], or [Appraisal]. Your [Stealth] is already good enough, so giving you an item related to information sounded better.] - Alvatria

Oops. My bad. I can't deny that she's true. I'm always better at my game when I've collected info, before charging in with my guns blazing. Almost all the times when I didn't plan out the assault didn't end up good for me.

"Okay then, what's so amazing with this thing? From the looks of it, its a normal book that's around a hundred pages thick." - Garami

I remember a lot about books from my previous life, so I'm confident in my guess here.

[Not much at the moment. You need to name the item first.] - Alvatria

"Name it?" - Garami

[I told you from the start, that the item needs to be named before you can unlock its powers.] - Alvatria

Oh yeah, she did say that.

"What do I need to do then?" - Garami

[Just drip a little blood on it, while giving it a name.] - Alvatria

"A name?" - Garami

[The items given are completely new ones after all, so it's decided that the Champions should be the ones to name their items. Or do you want me to do it?] - Alvatria

You are reading story A Reincarnated Demon's Tales of Wonder (Prototype) at novel35.com

"No thanks. I just didn't get the meaning at first." - Garami

A personal name. I'm not the best with names, so let's go for something simple. It worked with the Dino-trio, so why not? Hmmmmm...

---

"I've decided." - Garami

[Finally! What's the name?] - Alvatria

"The Kigal-Note." - Garami

[......Huh?] - Alvatria

"The book's name is the Kigal-Note." - Garami

It's a notebook exclusive for me, a Kur Kigal. Therefore, the Kigal-Note. It's funny, and it makes people who don't have a high level of [Appraisal] think the book is anything valuable as well.

With that in mind, I made a small cut on my finger with my katana and dripped the blood-drop on the book. The book's binding changed from black to purple, and a K in bright lilac color appeared on the higher half of the front.

[Um?] - Alvatria

"Unsatisfied?" - Garami

I asked while releasing some [Bloodlust]. I don't care what others say, but I won't let this joke goddess tell me that I've got bad naming sense!

[I-it's good, yes. Just stop looking like Lux when he's angry.] - Alvatria

Thanks again, Ultimate God of Light.

I tried to appraise the book, now that it's been given a name, but all I got was that the name, and that it had no durability. Like this:

Durability: ---/---

I hope it's not a bug at work here. The book had a skill named [Appraisal Disguise], which masks the appraisal result with a fake status. Anything else is covered with a [N/A] mark. There are six rows under with those under [Appraisal Disguise], suggesting that the book has six more effects to it. The description of the book is also not available.

"Why can't I appraise this thing?" - Garami

[Hey, its got [Appraisal Disguise]! Must be from the reason you gave it that name. That's the main reason why it's the Champions that should name the items. They get one more ability that way, that originates from the name given. Better to let the user of the items decide what that should be, right?] - Alvatria

"Yeah, yeah, but what's the point of having an ability if it stops even me from understanding it?" - Garami

[Just make the book disguise itself for anyone except yourself.] - Alvatria

How do you even..., I did it. Wow. The description is here, along with the five mystery skills.

[Can I explain the book's effects, please?] - Alvatria

"Fine. Knock yourself out." - Garami

She must have wanted to explain those, given how hyped she is now. I'll keep myself from reading the effects with [Appraisal]. No need to spoil the goddess's good mood.

[Okay! Effect number one is that the book is semi-physical. This means that it has no durability, meaning it can't be destroyed.] - Alvatria

Huh? What? How? There are too many strange things mentioned there.

"You mean, its an indestructible object?" - Garami

[More like its made of solidified darkness, and turns incorporeal when exposed to danger.] - Alvatria

"So, the Kigal-Note turns intangible before it gets damaged, then it turns to normal after that?" - Garami

[That's it. Ability number 2, is the memo-function. It works like a regular notebook with 666 pages available.] - Alvatria

666, isn't that a bad number? Wait, 666 pages?

"There's no way this thin book holds so many pages! From what I can see, this is made with regular paper, not bible paper!" - Garami

[You ask about how a book made of solidified darkness can have more pages than its thickness says?] - Alvatria

"Err, good point there. What else can the Kigal-Note do? Automatic recording of my [Appraisals]?" - Garami

[That's a different function's department. The memo-function is renewable by the way. Remove a used sheet from the book, and the sheet will return to the book in time, in a blank state.] - Alvatria

"That's handy, but what if I want to give someone that memo?" - Garami

[Get some regular paper for that. This book is your exclusive.] - Alvatria

If that's all this thing can do, then I fear for the other Champions' items.

[The third ability is the bestiary. It will record any information about creatures you observe, including what you can find out about them with [Appraisal], and anything else. You can even save info about specific individuals in the bestiary.] - Alvatria

That sounds somewhat interesting. Not needing to remember what the stats of a target is all the time will be helpful. I could sneak a peek, appraise the target, then think of a strategy on how to defeat it back home, as long as I know where it lives.

[Bestiaries are rare, but people know of their existence. Especially the Adventurer Guild. They would pay with gold for some the data of a real bestiary.] - Alvatria

Gold?! Wait a sec, Garami! She's just trying to reel you in again. Resist the smell of gold. And aren't I just a little too attracted to gold? Was I always like this?

[And behind door number four, we have the encyclopedia!] - Alvatria

Something boring came up while I was worrying about if my greed was gonna win out on me again. Are you serious? An encyclopedia?

"Can't I already do that with [Appraisal]?" - Garami

[[Appraisal] ain't that omnipotent. There's a lot more info in this book than you can get from the skill. Also, you don't need to have the target in front of you either. But if you want to study a specific target, you can appraise it directly, then record it in the bestiary so that you can look over the data at a later date.] - Alvatria

Sounds simple enough, but simple things tend to be the most important ones. [Concentration] was the same, and having access to more information won't hurt, especially when I've never been outside before. I'm clueless to anything outside the dungeon.

[For example, you can search up [Appraisal Disguise], and get to know how to obtain that as a skill for yourself. I recommend you to take it by the way.] - Alvatria

Okay, it's better than a normal [Appraisal]. But having both of them lets me cover up potential holes in either of their specs.

[There's also the search function. Just think about what page, topic, monster, or word that you want to know more about, and the book will find the page for you.] - Alvatria

Again, a plain, but handy function. If this thing contains so much information as this goddess says it holds, then it's gonna be a pain searching through it the usual way. Still, a little skeptic, if it has that much info in it.

[Then, there's the book's greatest effect!] - Alvatria

Oh boy. What is it this time? Probably nothing impressive...

---

"I was wrong. That is impressive." - Garami

[You thought it would be unimpressive?!] - Alvatria

Yeah, yeah, sorry about that. But she was right all along. The Kigal-Note isn't losing Hydra, just with that last effect.

[But remember, the last effect has a nasty cooldown that depends on the target, so only use it when you don't have any other choices.] - Alvatria

Even so, for a secret weapon at Hydra-level, I'm willing to pay such a small price. I'll need to test it, and the other functions of the Kigal-Note when I get out and have spare time for it.

[And if the target is way stronger than you, there's the risk of the effect failing. Like that knight, or whatever it was, from your prophetic dream.] - Alvatria

"Hmm, that's some bad new-what!? What's that about a prophetic dream?! How do you even know about that?!" - Garami

[You mean the dream where your head was chewed off? I was the one who showed you that dream. No need to thank me.] - Alvatria

"THAT WAS YOU FAULT?! WHY?!" - Garami

[Because it was gonna happen even if I didn't tell you. One of my believers is an Oracle, like the one who predicted the advent of the Disasters, predicted the death of my Champion, a few years before today. Therefore, I added the prophetic dream to the Champion blessing.] - Alvatria

Don't add stuff so disturbing as someone's bad-end! Ugh. Do I have to accept that I was just told that my death was determined? Not to mention that I'll die such a horrible death!

"No way in hell I'll accept that!!" - Garami

[Good answer. I'm also troubled if my Champion dies a dog's death. It will cut down on my entertainment.] - Avlatria

Just what kind of entertainment are you thinking about there?

"That's the reason for the gray cloak? To keep me as far away from that event?" - Garami

I was wearing a black cloak in the dream after all. I don't see the reason for keeping the clothes dark-colored if she wanted to change the prophecy...,

[Ah, the prophecy will happen, no matter how one struggles with it. Just changing the small details ain't enough. You'll still end up in a situation where you face off against the knight in the middle of a forest.] - Alvatria

"HEY!" - Garami

[Don't complain to me. A prophecy on Terra Sol is something that even we gods can't change. No matter how much one tries to prevent it, one will definitely arrive at the point where the prophecy starts.] - Alvatria

ARRRGGHHH!! Even the gods can't do anything about it!? Okay, it's decided! I'll move to an active volcano! The heat of the magma is way better than guaranteed death! Or, wasn't that way she described it, a little strange? The 'one will definitely arrive at the point where the prophecy starts' part.

"Will all prophecies end up true?" - Garami

[Hmm, most of them do, mostly because the one in the prophecy feels that they can't fight against it. Fate and destiny, and so on. But that doesn't mean there's no way to overcome it.] - Alvatria

"It isn't?!" - Garami

[No, but it's extremely difficult to change it. Prophesied events will occur. It's something we gods hate, but just this isn't changeable. That doesn't mean that the content of the prophecy will happen. You will face off with that knight in the forest, sure, but that doesn't mean that it plays out like in the dream.] - Alvatria

"Really?" - Garami

[Sure. One to a hundred thousand manages to survive a prophecy of their death. It's not impossible. I even made it so that you would feel the pain during your dream, even after death, so that you would be motivated to change that future. Well, aren't I smart?] - Alvatria

T-this idiot goddess!! W 'motivated' after going through such an experience! Not that I needed it! Did she think I would do the same mistake as those give-uppers?! HAH! I've overcome a freaking Disaster! Let me at as many monster knights as you want, prophecy!! But not right now. I wanna enjoy the outside-life a little before that.

I'll stay clear from all forests till I find something that can one-hit KO any knight first, just to be safe. Maybe I should hire a bodyguard? I've got enough gold for that. I need some nasty classes as well. I've got more skill points than I've ever had before, and now I'm able to get the classes without any disturbances.

"Okay, then as the first step on my anti-knight plan, tell me about the Uni-" - Garami

'Unique Skill that you talked about', was what I was gonna say before getting interrupted by the system message. The sudden interruption made me bite my tongue in surprise.

[I got a message that those skills you asked for were given the green light just now. Did you get them?] - Alvatria

"Yesh, I  goh hhem." - Garami

[Why're you speaking so funny? And what's that white thing?] - Alvatria

Why you! And what white thing? This one? I saw it appear at the same time I got my skills. It wasn't her who made it appear? From the looks of it, it's a folded piece of paper. I picked it up and unfolded it... ugh.

[Hey, what's wrong? You made the funniest face right now. Is there a joke written on there?] - Alvatria

Wordlessly, I showed her what was written on the piece of paper.

Alvatria, get back to Celestia this moment. We have to talk about your punishment for that "Seed of Darkness" blessing of yours.

Qulux

[......] - Alvatria

"......" - Garami

[.......Oh crap!! This is bad, this is bad, this is bad, this is bad! I-I-I-I-I have to return!] - Alvatria

"Ah! Wait a-!" - Garami

But before I got a word in, the device had already teleported.

Don't fuck around!! What about my Unique Skill?!

"Alvatria!! Get back right this second! Get punished by that Qulux guy, or Lux guy this instant, so that I can punish you!!" - Garami

Wait, isn't Qulux and Lux, the same person? Alvatria called herself Ria-chan at the beginning, so it isn't a too far-fetched that she calls the Ultimate God of Light with a nickname as well.

While I was thinking that, something came up. Quite literally.
