Chapter 1211: The Mastermind Is Gu Jinxiu

“Hmph, there are lots.” Xia Yingluo thought when she returned to the family one year from now and revealed her identity, he’d definitely get a shock. But for now, it was more important to settle the matter at hand. “I don’t know which jerk was out to frame me, but if I find out who it is, I’ll definitely skin him alive!”

Her look of anger was simply adorable.

Wei Lingnan gently said, “Alright, I’ll help you with that.”

Xia Yingluo nodded vehemently. All of a sudden, she turned to look at him. “You’re so smart, do you know who was the one behind this?” She was just asking casually, but he turned out to really have the answer—

“I know.”

“Huh?” She was shocked.

“You can get rid of your private investigator now,” Wei Lingnan said. “The one behind it is Gu Jinxiu.”

Gu Jinxiu.

She was taken aback by his answer. Wasn’t that his so-called fiancée?

She finally understood why someone was framing her—the other day at the engagement party, Gu Jinxiu had seen just how intimately she and Wei Lingnan were acting; no woman could possibly tolerate it. But she wouldn’t have expected that a respectable and prim lady like Miss Gu would do something so dirty when taking revenge.

Xia Yingluo looked at Wei Lingnan. “Why did you fall for such an evil woman?”

Wei Lingnan calmly said, “Evil? Ah Luo, you’re a hundred times more evil than her.”

Xia Yingluo went quiet. It was easy for him to say anything since he wasn’t the one being attacked. But why would he tell her that Gu Jinxiu was the one against her, did he just want to watch her get angry?

Seeing how confused she looked, Wei Lingnan said kindly, “You’d better stay guarded against her.”

He was worried that she’d get into some sort of trouble. Although he knew that she was intelligent and was good at self-defense, there was always a risk.

Xia Yingluo sensed the thoughtfulness in his voice and nodded as her anger subsided. Wei Lingnan smiled and, from across the table, pulled her hand to his lips for a kiss.

“What are you doing?!” She was upset again.

“Just wait and see, someday I’ll stand up for you,” he said.

“Stand up for me, against your fiancée?”

“I’ve said this before, Gu Jinxiu is not my fiancée.” Wei Lingnan looked at her. “I’ll fulfill your wishes and skin her alive.” He had his own reason for keeping Gu Jinxiu with him. In any case, she wasn’t going to end up well.

Xia Yingluo didn’t take him seriously. “Forget it, I’m not so foolish as to believe you.”

She pushed her coffee aside and stood up to leave.

Wei Lingnan remained in his seat, legs crossed, as he watched her leave. Melancholic jazz music played in the background.

Xia Yingluo returned to the training camp.

She’d just had her dinner and was done showering when she heard Jin Ling’er yell, “Yingluo, Yingluo, something’s happened! Come and look! Remember when you were the icon of the intranet, they changed it! It’s Jiang Bilian now! Oh my gosh, this editing is perfect.”

Xia Yingluo hurriedly went to take a look at it with Jin Ling’er.

Indeed, her video had been replaced by Jiang Bilian’s. Her face was superimposed onto a nude figure background, and a hacker had even left a comment on it: Don’t you even know this video editing skill? Xia Yingluo’s video had at least eighteen loopholes throughout and was obviously done up by someone, only you fools would believe that she was really a part of the video. I casually did some work and replaced it, I believe this is a better one than the previous. Do you believe this one?

In the forum page, this hacker had even pointed out the loopholes in Xia Yingluo’s version.

With the evidence presented to them, many finally came to the realization and acknowledged that Xia Yingluo had been wrongly accused. Meanwhile, it was Jiang Bilian who was in trouble now. Some anonymous hacker had uploaded hers as an “improved version”, one that was more seamless in transition and editing. In just a few hours, the viewer count had skyrocketed.

“Hahaha, Jiang Bilian is going to be so angry!” Jin Ling’er laughed as she pounded the table. “It was her fault for laughing at you! This video is so well edited, let’s see how Jiang Bilian is going to deal with it!”

Xia Yingluo was impressed too. The only thing that could’ve been better was if Gu Jinxiu was the one being targeted.

She wondered which righteous person did this. Could it be… Wei Lingnan?

Just as she was in a daze, Jin Ling’er grabbed her. “Hahaha, Yingluo, let’s give it back to Jiang Bilian and her people in class tomorrow! It’s about time we vented all our unhappiness!”

This was just what Xia Yingluo would like to do. “Sure!”

They hadn’t even had the chance to mock her the next day, as Jiang Bilian had gone into hiding—not only was she on the school intranet, her video had been uploaded on the nation’s online network system. Everyone who went online got to see how slutty she looked in that video.

Jiang Bilian cried in anger in the dorm and called her parents, asking them to find a way to settle it.

However hard the Jiang family tried, things were irreversible—the production crew of the original film had no idea how things had gone awry, but they said that it was impossible to make changes to an existing video once this version was uploaded. As for compensation fees? They could forget about it, and be grateful that this helped their daughter with publicity!

The Jiang parents were enraged and threatened to sue the production crew.

But with Gu Jinxiu as their backing, the director and producer weren’t afraid at all. “Go ahead and sue us. Do it all you want. But when Jiang Bilian’s name is tarnished in this industry, let’s see who would still want to hire her in the future!”

With this retort, the Jiang parents dared not go ahead with it. Their daughter needed this career!

After thumbing them down, the production crew offered a little something as assurance. “Think on the bright side, this is good publicity, isn’t it? In the past, who even knew who Jiang Bilian was? Now that such shows are in demand, the viewers all have an impression of her, and it’ll help with her popularity. Anyway, everyone knows that it’s superimposed and not her nudes. What’s the issue?”

The Jiang family did not know what more to say. Entertainment news were usually contained in the entertainment circle, but a film like this was accessed by everyone and anyone. Back then, when the production crew was trying to bring Xia Yingluo down, they had not mentioned that it was just a superimposed film. Everyone outside of the entertainment circle would have thought that it was her willingness to reveal all of herself.
