Chapter 11: Test 1: “The Delivery”

Whenever the Robot declared the start of the first test, Crow immediately opened his book and found a notification, it was a long message, detailing all the rules of the Delivery test.

The book had about 10 pages filled, and who knows how many pages were empty, there wasn't a number on the pages, so, no matter how much Crow had scrolled, they just wouldn't end.

'Ha! I knew that bastard Robot wouldn't tell us all the rules, well, he never said he would begin with, but this is better for me, it was good to get those two as well in the team!'.

The rules not mentioned by the supervisor of the first test were, first, you could destroy someone's shack, eliminating them from the test, instead of them just having to steal another shack, like, with the puppets, they would immediately lose the test.

And second, you had to touch a shack to confirm your ownership of it, only then could you be registered in the first test, if you didn't do this, and just delivered the puppet to the Robot, it wouldn't count, and you would lose the test.

Crow looked at his teammates, Martin, Emily, and Zafira, he said, "Have you checked the rules yet? if you didn't! there is a rule that says destroying people's shacks can eliminate them from the test, can I count on you three to protect the shack?".

He would, of course, try to keep an eye on the shack as well, but since he would be out there stealing other teams' puppets, and probably facing some ants, he wouldn't be able to see everything happening close to his shack.

Emily and the others nodded, then she said, "But why would they add such a rule?", "They have a rule about how killing is normal, of course, they would add a rule to eliminate teams!", responded Zafira.

'Hah! dammit, now that I think about it, the teammates I chose don't seem to be all that strong, well, then again, the others present aside from that crazy guy, aren't much, and I feel like this Martin is quite strong, he might get scared easily, but from his aura, I can tell, he's stronger than both Zafira and Emily!'.

"If anyone attacks the shack, send one of you three to me, I will come to deal with the attacker as soon as possible!", said Crow to the three, who again, all nodded their heads in affirmation.

The Robot had already disappeared and returned to sit on the giant silver throne in the distance. The clock had started running, and when Crow checked it, it said that the first test had 58 minutes left, two minutes had already gone by, and they haven't done a thing yet.

At this moment, they could hear a loud robotic voice announce, "This shack, is owned by team Saul, it includes, the captain: Saul, and the subordinate: Chin!". Everyone turned their heads to see a rundown shack in the front, one of the closest shacks to the Robot, it was still another 800 or so meters to reach him though.

'Hah! the first team has already been made han? and a person is willing to form a team with that crazy guy, I guess he got lucky, whatever, that does not concern me, what does, is this!'.

Crow sped up, and reached a close by shack in mere seconds, the moment he touched it, he felt his book connect to the shack, and a note appeared in his book, it had two positions empty, a captain position, and a subordinate position.

Crow quickly wrote his name, as well as the other three's, and all of them, got a notification, to confirm if they were part of the group of no, of course, they all said yes, and so, the team was formed.

The exact thing happened again, as a robotic voice announced the following, "This shack, is owned by team Crow, it includes, the captain: Crow, and the subordinates: Zafira, Emily, and Martin!".

Everyone again paid attention to the team just declared, they didn't look at every team created, only at the first one formed, and the one that belonged to the strongest person here.

After that many other teams were formed, and the robotic voice echoed everywhere inside this gigantic establishment. Crow looked at his team, and said, "Martin, get inside the shack, and bring me the puppet!".

"And you two also get inside, or, you can stay outside, I don't care, as long as you protect the shack from enemy danger!", Emily and Zafira nodded, and decided to go inside the shack.

A little back from where Crow was standing, someone who had his eyes open, was smiling like a devil, he wore normal attires, a green sweater, and blue jeans, he had blonde hair and was quite handsome.

'Hah! Crow Rovern, you're team will be losing this one, I can't allow you to win, what if we face off against each other in the second test? I wouldn't stand a chance, thank you, whoever made the rules of this test, now, I have a chance to get rid of these nuisances!'.

'Ah, if Al was here, I wouldn't have to worry, but I don't know if he's in the first, second, or whatever world, after all, he's not allowed to speak of the inside! hahaha!'.

Crow was still waiting for the puppet to come, a minute and a half had passed, but there was still nothing. Inside the shack, not it was not just Martin who was looking for the puppet, but also Emily, and Zafira.

They couldn't find the puppet, it was supposed to be clear where it was, but the Robot had hidden Everyone's puppet, just to waste their time, this made it funny to the viewers, and for the Robot, that was all that mattered.

Crow looked around, and saw, that it wasn't only his team who hadn't yet found the puppet, but every other team, it was the same with Saul's team. "Go on, I will look for the puppet!", said Chin.

Saul looked at him for a second, then said, "Did you not read the rules? one of us has to stay and guard the shack, or else, if someone destroys it, we would be eliminated! just bring me the puppet!".

Chin did as ordered, and entered the shack, 'Hah! that bastard Robot!', thought Saul, the prisoner, as he looked toward where the supervisor of the first test was sitting in the distance.

It took about three minutes, for Martin to get out of the shack, holding a yellow puppet, it looked like a Daoist monk statue, more than it did a puppet, but Crow didn't care about that, instead, he said, "Good job!", and started running.

He had commended Martin, because, even though, Crow wasn't the first to acquire the puppet, he was one of the first captains to do so, there were still many waiting for their teammates to bring them the puppet.

'Ah! now that I clearly think about it, why didn't I accept that crazy criminal as a teammate, I could leave without worrying about the safety of the shack, if I had done so, but I didn't! even though I said I would do everything it takes, I refused him because he was a killer, but for how long will I wait, before I also turn into one?'.

'Just the first test allows killing, ah, the Reader's Challenges, I thought all those deaths were due to the dangers you face when taking the tests, but I guess, most of them can be attributed to other participants of the game, han?'.

As Crow was running looking for a target to steal from, he was hit dead-on by a bomb, a huge explosion sounded off inside the establishment, he hadn't expected this bomb until it was so close that he couldn't dodge it.

Smoke rose from where Crow had been, everyone stopped what they were doing, to look at what had just happened, a little back from where the explosion happened, someone was wearing a red jacket, his right hand was a little burnt.

That bomb was an ability, of his, though to create such a powerful and bug explosion, he needed to burn his hand quite a lot, still, he was happy to do so, if he could be known as the D ranker that had killed a C ranker.

He hadn't worked by himself though, there was a middle-aged woman beside him, and an invisible gas was released from her hands, this was a silencer, it was also the thing that had obstructed Crow from noticing the bomb until it hit him.

The middle-aged woman looked at the man beside her, as she said, "Hah! we did it, you were right, we killed him, we just killed a C ranker!", her smile grew larger and larger by the second, she was very happy with the achievement she had just accomplished.

These bombs, and silencing gas used, are abilities, of the normal kind, of course, they weren't from the 28 special abilities, like the one Crow, or the Reader, had.
