Chapter 48: Chapter 48: killing the boss, and ‘Thirsty’ Yamato

Reflected in Ren's eyes was the form of the boss monster.

Similarly, to the other monsters, it was a huge and massive bear that belonged to the Tornaq monster race.

It dwarfed its earlier brethren Ren had fought before, being almost three times bigger than the largest of them.

The icy crystals that defined the Tornaq monster race were even more menacing and deadly looking on this boss as Ren observed. Its claws were completely icy and crystalized like its brethren but on its back, the ice crystals didn't grow haphazardly and followed only on its spine from the head reaching even up to its tail.

Its crystals however appeared to be completely see-through, unlike the other bear monsters who had it blueish in color with some even taking a green tint.

Patterns glowed through its body as if it had runes carved on its inside. Its lower jaw was covered in ice like a mask, and two jagged crystal ice fangs grew through its mouth, and right now Ren was sure they would tear apart the thickest sheet of the strongest metal easily.

Its completely blue pupil-less eyes glared at Ren.

*Snort*

But Ren just scoffed as he grabbed his sword in one hand.

*Fouish*

Ren moved past every monster in his way, running at such a speed that it felt like he was practically flying.

His direction? the Tornaq monster boss.

'A tough opponent…'

This was because at this moment, Ren wasn't playing and even used his newly acquired trait, Ventus.

Even though he had excitement written all over his face, he also perfectly knew that if he fucked up right here, he would be endangering his party. Not to underestimate Yamato, as she most likely can hold off this S rank boss, but then the rest would be overwhelmed by the A ranks and B ranks…

A rank gates mostly had huge amounts of monsters. And to adequately tackle these gates, there needed to be many groups of heroes entering at the same time. And even then, it took days to finally finish.

But this gate wasn't similar. Yamato's agency had acquired the right for it this time, but it changed ownership after a bit of time.

This was due to it being relatively easier, in terms of how much time it would take. Granted, it had a higher chance to pop off S ranks than other ranks and the monsters were slightly stronger and bigger in size.

Yamato had specifically called Ren to this gate since she didn't want to waste too much of his time.

This was why they were about to be done fighting and finally rest.

'I have to give my all…' Ren wasn't planning to hold back at this moment.

He decided long ago to never underestimate an opponent. He would always keep his guard up.

*Ting*

Haki covered his sword and hands up to the elbow as Ren further sped up, using his wind ability even more.

Once he was close enough he jumped as far as he could, his sword held high above his head with both hands, and then he met with the head of the huge monster who had also lunged at him, mouth wide open trying to snap his body and tear him apart.

His wind ability gave him the edge, however, as Ren reached first and came down with his sword hard on the head of the monster.

A shockwave exploded as the head of the Tornaq bear twisted back before it was violently thrown to the ground due to the huge force.

*Exhale*

Ren felt his hand trembling from the rebound force. But he didn't remove his eyes from the monster.

He tightened his grip.

If Ren was to say what were his likes about this new life, it would definitely be that he can have fun with girls, and also surprisingly fighting.

He wasn't a violent person, but the state he always entered when holding a weapon, was addicting, and it awakened Ren's natural instinct and thirst for fighting.

The bear he had thrown got back on its feet, an intense glare visible in its eyes.

*Roar*

It stood on its hind legs and then slammed both fists onto the ground, and Ren's observation made him hurriedly dodge as he felt he was in danger.

From his earlier position, huge ice crystals spawned and expanded to almost a six meters area like a flower blooming.

Ren had stepped to the side and continued running toward the beast.

When the bear threw ice spears at him, he created barriers to tank the attacks and continued dodging.

As he reached closer, he created yet another barrier as it shattered to tank the spear attack, but he created a platform to step on using his wind ability, and he flipped over the beast.

Once he was at the back of the beast, his arm muscles bulged as he tightly swung his sword. Infused with everything he had, Haki, wind ability, and his raw massive brute strength.

A huge air blade/wind slash was sent at the monster, and it penetrated through its crystals and left a gash on its flesh. It carved deep as the beast roared in pain and anger.

It trashed with its hands as it turned, destroying everything in the area, trees, ground, and Ren jumped back putting some distance between them.

'It's resilient,' Most likely its Stats were S rank in strength, which in turn included raw power and body durability.

Meanwhile, on the side of Yamato.

Although she grabbed the attention of both A ranks, she still kept a tiny bit of her awareness on Ren, as he was still inside her range of Haki.

Seeing the guy looking so magnificent and holding his ground had Yamato feeling excited. Both in her heart and in her panty-less lower body.

'Hm, hm, that's the kind of guy I prefer…' She enjoyed how dominating his aura looked at that moment.

She hurriedly shook her head.

'I can't hold myself any longer' Her instincts were what drove her, and she didn't care at this moment that she was in heat like a primal animal.

She had been keeping herself together all this while and now an alpha male presented himself near her. And she was going crazy.

Right now, she wanted to butcher those guys, and then she wanted Ren to 'Enjoy her body' as he wished.

Yamato's body started to change very quickly as she was determined.

Her hair became longer and more untamed, and she gained a ribbon-like trail of cold air around her shoulders and grew a large tail.

Yamato was one of the few rare people who had two traits. Similar to Ren as Yamato could see him use wind. But the thing was she didn't get her second trait via… natural means. She wasn't born with it…

Her trait allowed her to transform into a hybrid and a full version of an ancient wolf deity at will. This, added to her already monstrous body as a result of her first trait, allowed her to become even more physically strong.

She spread her arm wide as she took a deep breath.

And then abruptly exhaled forward a dense blast of cold air at one of the A rank monster bears.

It didn't have time to move before it was covered in the icy breath and frozen immediately.

Yamato then moved to attack the second A ranks, thinking of the fastest way to dispose of them. And she would then take care of the rest of the B ranks along with her group, so that she can help Ren and finally have him to herself.

Her group who consisted of- Momo who can create cannons strong enough to obliterate even B ranked monsters the same as her, Usopp who had some dangerous seeds he can use, and Sicily who had deadly magic on her hand- Supported her, and only took as much time as she took to destroy the A rank to come help her. What they struggled with were the A ranks, not these weaklings.

She had attacked the unfrozen monster, using her Kanabo that was coated in spreading ice. And her attacks each time she made contact spread ice around the body part of the monster and its movement slowed down.

It didn't mean that the monster was just getting hit, however, as it tried everything it could but it didn't even land one hit on Yamato who was now S ranked. Not to mention how her observation haki helped.

This was the special case surrounding Yamato's rank. She was only A rank, but if she used this transformation, her rank would become S.

Her stats had all entered the S rank. Speed, magic, and strength had reached a very high state.

So, it didn't take her long to beat the A rank. And as she did so, the monster fell dead with one last strike, Yamato found the rest had started attacking the frozen bear that was trying to escape.

'They are a reliable bunch…'

She had a smile on her face before she joined them. The second monster was thus taken care of.

*Roar*

In the distance, the roars of the boss were heard.

They shared a look and then went out to help Ren.

With another S rank joining and several B ranks, it didn't take them long to clear the gate.

Rena and Yamato dealt the most damage of course, but Usopp took a strategic place and started to bother the monster with seeds that would either irritate its nose, due to a dirty smell, or seeds that would make it entangled in vines and even occasionally some noise bombs that explode near its ears, and seeds that would burn the eyes.

Momo upped her game also as she created many cannons that were put in various places and she operated them from a distance to release their shots and bother the monster mostly rather than damage it.

Sicily used her magic and proved helpful by creating platforms for Yamato and Ren to jump up off, and even barriers for the group members.

Hinata wasn't recommended to go near the s ranked monster, so she took it upon herself to attack using a special ninja technique called the vacuum palm,*

It sent a shockwave attack at the monster and proved effective as it dealt some damage and even made the monster dizzy.

And just like that, the fight was over.

Right after the fight was over.

Yamato had told Ren to stay for a bit as she wanted to talk to him.

He agreed of course and watched the rest leave, having tired looks on their faces, their bodies weak and fatigued, but also had a glint of satisfaction in their eyes…

Usopp who had seen Ren fight, felt like the guy was very strong, and he thought that Yamato was going to invite him. He was surprisingly cool with that and thought he'll put in good word for him later as he came to feel like Ren was okay.

Momo, Sicily, and Hinata followed after Usopp and gave Ren and Yamato their space as she had told them she wanted to discuss some superhero business with him.

They weren't idiots, and all considered that she wanted to ask him to join their agency.

Hinata had that thought originally to ask him the same, but seeing how Yamato was looking at him, she felt she wouldn't succeed somehow.

'Well, at least I got his number… Maybe we can meet later?' Hinata was intrigued about him and she felt he was a good person and friend to have.

Ren had exchanged numbers with all members, even Usopp as they all had gotten close somewhat after this gate expedition.

Discreetly, no one noticed that even Momo and Sicily had happy smiles on their faces when they exchanged numbers with Ren…

When everybody had gone away a certain distance, Ren finally looked at Yamato.

The two of them being the only ones present there.

She just looked at him as her transformation had long vanished.

Now a blush was apparent on her face as she looked heatedly at Ren.

As soon as Yamato felt everyone vanish from her observation, which was actually a long-distance range, she jumped at Ren.

Her hands started to wonder about his body, touching him all around.

Ren raised an eyebrow. His hands instinctively doing the same to her.

He looked at her with a knowing look. But she didn't shy away at all.

She just gave a toothy grin and said.

"What? It is superhero business," She cheekily said.

She started trailing kisses on his body, her hands wanted to strip him as she tried to take off his combat suit. Luckily the upper part had a zipper, so she managed to do it soon.

She then started to touch his abs and his chest muscles…

Ren could practically feel her arousal even from the few feet of distance in between them earlier. So, he knew why she was like this.

She was like a fire dancing from excitement at this moment.

He laughed as he heard her words.

"Something like this can also be called business?" He said.

His hand groped her breast through her clothes.

*Moan*

She moaned a bit and nodded her head firmly.

"Both of us are superheroes, and right now we have some business with each other, no?" She said.

The same grin on her face.

*Chuckle*

Ren chuckled before he moved and kissed her abruptly.
