Tears unconsciously streamed down from Elizabeth’s face as she stared at the spot where her Mika once stood.

The whole reason she killed so many monsters was to reach her daughters before anything bad happened to them.

Although Adam and Nathan had already started cultivating and had formal combat training though they didn’t focus on CQC, nor did they have a cold weapon or pistol, she knew they’d be fine for a while, even without her help.

Of course, she wouldn’t abandon them based on this assumption because this situation was unlike anything anyone had experienced before. Regardless, the two should be able to hold their own for a while. They were her and Cain’s children, after all.

On the other hand, Olivia and Mika would have a considerably more difficult time than their older brothers.

This is especially so for Olivia. At least Mika showed them that she could fight. Her body was also incredibly strong for a baby’s, certainly more durable than her older sister’s. However, Olivia was a different story. She was just a kid with limited combat ability and little to no strength.

Sure, she might be able to overpower some of the kids from less fortunate families just because her body is naturally stronger, but that doesn’t mean she has the strength to survive this calamity.

Thus, when Elizabeth first showed up and saw her two daughters alive, she felt like the luckiest parent in the world.

She would never have imagined Mika to be so skilled with the sword, nor did she expect her to have a sword, but that didn’t matter at that moment.

All she cared about was that her babies were alive and well.

That is until Mika vanished from her sight! She didn’t know what had happened to her or where she had gone. Elizabeth’s first thought was that she had died. After all, how could her baby vanish into thin air without releasing any mana fluctuations?

It took her a minute to get her wits about her, and that’s when she remembered Mika’s words:

“Mom! This is Akira Raven! Please save her, then find Nathan and Adam! I don’t know where I’m teleporting to, but just know that I love you, and we’ll see each other again!”

Initially, she was confused about her words because it almost seemed like Mika knew what was about to happen.

Then she remembered the confident look on her daughter’s face that clearly expressed that she would be fine and that everything she said was the truth, or at least what she perceived as the truth.

‘She said she was being teleported… I have been sensing weird spatial fluctuations, so it’s not impossible, but how would Mika know that?’ Elizabeth wondered but immediately shook her head.

‘No, that doesn’t matter right now. First, I need to do as Mika said and save Olivia and this other girl, who I guess is Akira. While I search for Adam, Nathan, and the other kids, I’ll also look for Mika. If I can’t find her now, I’ll look for her later. If I can’t find her later, then I’ll just turn this world upside down until I do! For now, I just need to trust Mika.’ Elizabeth thought to herself before running to take care of Olivia and Akira.

Olivia fainted after watching Mika disappear right before her eyes, while Akira’s situation worsened as time passed. She was on the brink of death, had lost a lot of blood, and her heartbeat had become faint.

But at least she was still alive.

Luckily, Elizabeth always carries a few healing serums with her just in case something happens. She shoved the healing serum down Akira’s throat, removed the voidling’s appendage, and inserted some of her mana into Akira’s body to help speed up the process.

The effects could be seen immediately! The giant hole in Akira’s stomach closed up at a rate fast enough to be seen by the naked eye.

Within just 30 seconds, Akira’s wound was already closed, and the worst of her injuries were healed.

She’d still need to see a doctor and be hospitalized for a while due to all the blood loss, but she’ll live.

Elizabeth nodded, then picked up Olivia and Akira and began searching for the other children.

As she ran through the rooms looking for the children, she couldn’t help but feel heartbroken at the sight of numerous dead children scattered across the ground.

Shaking her head to get rid of those depressing thoughts, she continued running until she finally came across a large batch of children fighting for their lives against at least a dozen monsters.

Without saying anything, Elizabeth ran ahead and swiftly killed all of them within a few seconds. Afterward, she turned to look at the dumbfounded children and said, “I need to go help the other kids as well. You should follow me. There’s no need to worry about the monsters because I’ll be able to take care of them before they can even reach you guys.”

The children blankly nodded at her, then began following Elizabeth as she ran off in another direction where she sensed more children.

From that point on, Elizabeth kept running through the castle and protecting any children she encountered.

After only a few minutes of running around, Elizabeth now had a large group of children following her.

She could sense there was only one more group left in the rest of the castle. She still hadn’t found Adam or Nathan yet, but she wasn’t too worried because she could tell they were in this last group.

Not long after, she rounded a corner and saw a group of 20 teenagers fighting for their life against dozens of monsters.

She also noticed how Adam was taking charge and commanding the other teenagers while Nathan was providing them with proper intel on where their enemies were and where they were going.

Elizabeth was inwardly impressed by their display of teamwork, but she didn’t dwell on this for too long. She didn’t want to face another scenario where her children vanished right before her eyes.

‘If only I hadn’t stayed to watch Mika fight, she wouldn’t have gotten teleported, and even if she were, I would have been there with them.’ Elizabeth thought to herself regretfully, and her resolve to save the other children firmed.

Looking back on it, throughout her journey through the castle, although she hasn’t encountered another similar situation to Mika’s, she has spotted plenty of small spatial tears appearing and disappearing spontaneously.

However, just because she hasn’t seen anyone teleport or disappear into a spatial tear doesn’t mean they haven’t sucked any children inside them.

Right now, Elizabeth took out all the monsters surrounding the children and then approached them. Since this was the last group of kids, she could sense, and after checking nearly every public room in the castle, she decided to let the kids rest for a bit as she talked to her children.

“MOM!!”

“MOM!!”

Adam and Nathan both ran up to their mother and hugged her.

“I’m glad the two of you are okay. I was worried that something might have happened to you two. I wanted to come here much earlier, but the other Nobles and I got caught up with some real nasty monsters.” Elizabeth briefly explained as she returned the hug.

After a few seconds, they released their mother and looked at the children behind her. They searched and searched, but even after looking at every child in the group, they still didn’t find who they were looking for.

“Mom, where is Mika? Is she alright?” Adam asked.

Elizabeth choked up, remembering the scene of her baby vanishing into a spatial tear and ‘teleporting’. Adam and Nathan saw this and immediately thought the worse. Fortunately, she spoke up before they could say anything, “I… I don’t know. When I showed up, she was fighting the monsters with Olivia. Then all of a sudden, a spatial tear formed right on top of them, and she disappeared. Mika said she would be fine and was just getting teleported somewhere, but…”

She didn’t need to finish that sentence as they both understood her meaning.

They were smart enough not to bring it up and decided to comfort their Mother in her time of need.

“It’s okay, Mom. You should know Mika by now. Whenever she says something, it’s always her honest feelings and full of confidence. If she said she would be fine, I believe she’s fine… for now.” Nathan said in an attempt to make his mother feel better.

“Sniff… I suppose you’re right. Mika never says useless things. Although I don’t know how she knew she was going to teleport, I believe she should be fine right now. After this ordeal ends, we’ll have to search for her because I haven’t sensed her presence anywhere in the castle.” Elizabeth said while holding back tears.

Adam and Nathan sighed but said nothing else. They had no idea what happened and now wasn’t exactly the best time to talk about it. There was still an invasion from an unknown species going on. As much as it sucked, the search for Mika will have to wait.

“What about Dad and the other parents? Where are they?” Adam asked now that his mother had calmed down a bit.

“When I left, they were busy fighting giant humanoid versions of the creatures you were all fighting. It’s been almost half an hour since I left, so I don’t know what they’re doing now, but I can assure you that they are busy fighting much more dangerous creatures or leaving the castle to help out in the city. Although I don’t know how much damage they’ve caused, I'm sure Avalon is a complete mess right now.” Elizabeth explained, which caused the kid’s faces to turn grave.

They couldn’t imagine fighting tougher versions of those monsters. The smaller ones were already enough to cause even the older teenagers problems because magical attacks don’t work on them.

It’s unfortunate, but in this day in age, kids don’t want to be swordsmen, gunmen, spearmen, or anything like that. They all want to use mana and shoot magic! Not only can they attack their opponents from afar, but spells are much flashier than any sword strike or gunshot!

Not only that, but to use those types of weapons to the fullest, one must cultivate their body, but Body Cultivation is too painful for kids to bear! Which is the main reason why cold weapons are so unpopular nowadays.

Body cultivation is literally the act of destroying and rebuilding the body over and over again until it exceeds its limitations and breaks through into a new life level. Doing that sucks and only becomes worse the further one progresses.

Another turn-off for Body Cultivation is the fact that even Mana Cultivation strengthens the body a little. It might not be to the degree of Body Cultivation, but it still strengthens the body. This is just a natural reaction, as the body must be strong enough to contain all that mana. Therefore, most people, including Nobles, simply don’t practice Body Cultivation anymore.

The last reason it’s not popular is that cold weapons like swords, spears, axes, polearms, daggers, etc., all require years of arduous practice and training to become proficient.

So, not only do you have to go through regular sessions of mind-numbing pain and agony, but you also have to go through long, boring, and tedious training sessions just to become good at a single weapon.

However, because nobody practices Body Cultivation among the nobles, these children are essentially useless against monsters that don’t take magical damage.

Thus, on this day, the outlook on the Body Cultivation Path and cold weapons began to change not only for the Country of Elysium but for Humanity as a whole.
