Chapter 2: Chapter 2 – A New Beginning

Amano Goto. No person didn't know that name during my high school days here at Fukui High. If they don't, they are probably someone from out of this world.

She consistently won the "Miss Fukui High" contest for three consecutive years.

Her looks were like a goddess. Unlike her long black hair in high school, she has bob-cut hair. Because of that, her perfect proportion was more emphasized. She gave more of that mature woman that any man would die for to have.

"W-Why a-are you here, Hasegawa-san?"

I can't believe it too. But I stood straight up and attempted to answer Goto-san calmly.

"I'm the new teaching assistant. Please take care of me. I-I'm surprised you remembered my name."

"O-Of course. Please take the seat at the corner."

I walked towards the seat prepared for the teaching assistant. It was placed at the corner of the room, left most side when facing the teacher.

Still, I can't believe that Goto-san would be here. I can't back out. Otherwise, the professor will fail me. I'll have to get through this somehow.

Afterward, Goto-san cleared out her throat and started the homeroom class.

"Ehem. Sorry for that. Let's start homeroom. Hasegawa-sensei, please introduce yourself once more."

"Yes! Good morning everyone. My name is Kotaro Hasegawa. I'll be with you for a short while as a teaching assistant. I hope we have a good time."

*Clap* Clap*

That was so nerve-wracking. I hope no one noticed how nervous I was.

"Okay! Now, let's continue with the attendance."

Thus, Goto-san started calling the students' names one by one. I looked around the room and saw someone I knew.

Airi? Was she attending this school?

"Suzuki. Takahashi. Tanaka. Watanabe."

"Here."

I was surprised when the Airi Shimizu(?) responded to Goto-san after being called her Watanabe. Is her real name Watanabe and not Shimizu?

"So everyone's present. Then let's start with homeroom."

Homeroom started. The first class was English.

"Watanabe, read lines from "A Midsummer Night's Dream Act 1, scene 1, lines 240 – 241."

"Love looks not with the eyes but with the mind. And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind."

"Perfect. As expected of our honor student."

What perfect pronunciation! I am not confident I'll be able to say it correctly.

It was now lunch break.

I stood up from my seat and was on my way to the cafeteria when Goto-san suddenly talked to me.

"Hasegawa-san, do you have a minute?"

Huh? By any chance, was she angry? Why does it look like I did something wrong? But she's so beautiful even though she's mad.

I answered, pretending to be calm.

"I-I'm on my way to the cafeteria to have lunch."

"Then give me some of your time after school."

With that, I go to the school cafeteria to eat lunch.

The cafeteria was as busy as always. Students piled up in front of the storefront, hoping to get a cheap lunch.

"It was the same as before. I miss this rowdy scene. "

Due to money constraints, university life was different from high school since only a select few could attend. Thus, I seldom see students fighting over cheap meals at college.

Because I wanted to avoid being late, I forgot to buy a boxed lunch from the 8/12 store near my home.

But because of my teaching assistant position, I easily acquired melon bread and grape juice from the storefront.

"Sigh. Thankfully I still have some money left."

After successfully purchasing my lunch, I proceeded to one of my hiding spots in this school—the rooftop. It was an area not accessible to students, but I knew a secret trick to opening the door that a Senpai had taught me.

*Click*

"Nice! It still works."

I pulled out my pen and pushed it into the door keyhole. Then with a slight push, the door opened.

A sudden gust of wind blew. I saw a girl standing close to the rooftop guard rails.

"They truly are right. White is the symbol for heaven."

The girl noticed my presence. The sudden gust undid her side ponytail.

Then, her blue eyes turned toward me.

It was the girl who looked exactly like Airi - Yuki Watanabe.
