Chapter 13: Chapter 11

Liu Qinghe’s body was jolted by the sudden braking, and her forehead hit the steering wheel. 

Bam!

“Hiss…” She hissed from the pain in her forehead. She rubbed her forehead, looked up, and saw several men appeared in front of her car, blocking her way. They were disheveled and looked like criminals, each holding a steel bar. Her heart beat faster when she realized her situation. 

‘This is not good.’ 

It was her first thought when she saw a man walking towards her car. She was expressionless, trying to calm her heartbeat and checking the locks. 

‘Good, it’s locked properly.’

Knock knock knock!

“Get down before we force you.” The man said, knocking on the window.

Liu Qinghe glanced at the man and said uninterestedly, “Why should I?”

The man raised his eyebrows when he heard her calm voice. “Hey, this chick is not bad. She is still calm even after seeing us, hahaha.” The man turned to his group and said while laughing.

Liu Qinghe ignored the man and remained calm. Her hands gripped the steering wheel tightly, planning her own escape route quickly in her mind.

Bam! 

Suddenly, the man punched her car’s window and roared, “Come down now! Don’t make me kill you before you listen!”

Her back was covered with cold sweat but she refused to go down. If she gets out of her car, she will definitely be killed or raped. Liu Qinghe looked at the naked woman lying on the road with her body full with injuries, who had been thrown over by those men to block her car. It looked like she was dead, or dying.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

That man kept punching her car’s window. Seeing that she refused to leave the car, he lost his patience and shouted to his group, “Come on, let’s break the window. I’ll see how she begs me later.”

Those men were laughing while walking towards her car. Liu Qinghe counted in her heart. When the men got close enough to her car, she slammed on the accelerator and the car started to accelerate. Looking at the oncoming car, those people were startled and quickly avoided her car.

Duak!

One of the men dodged too slowly and was sent flying by her car. She doesn’t care what’s going on behind her, she speeds up while the men curse behind her.

Liu Qinghe drove for five hours without stopping until she found a gas station on the side of the road. It’s quiet enough and the population isn’t too large, so there shouldn’t be too many zombies here. Driving into the gas station, she parked the car, filled it up, and parked it in her space.

Liu QingHe gripped on her steel bat tightened when she walked to the gas station’s warehouse. This gas station is so quiet, something is wrong here. With careful steps, she walked to the window and looked inside.

In the warehouse, she saw several figures squatting in the corner of the room. But under the dim light in the warehouse, she couldn’t see clearly, but she could feel something staring at her.

Click.. creak…

Liu Qinghe held her breath and slowly opened the warehouse door. As soon as the door to the warehouse opened, the room inside lit up, and she could see a lot of blood traces on the ground and wall. Those crouching in the corner looked up, and she saw their lifeless eyes.

Those people are children and women. They were covered in scars, their clothes were tattered, and they didn’t look like human at all. Liu Qinghe took a deep breath and smelled a strong rancid odor in the air. 

‘It smells like zombies. Are there any zombies in this room?’

She walked slowly into the room while examining her surroundings. After searching for a while, there were no zombies in the room at all. 

‘What happened?’

She stood in front of the crowd, looking at a woman holding a package. The woman’s eyes were not focused, but she still hugged the package tightly. She raised her hand to see what was in the package, when suddenly something dripped onto her face.

Drip.. plek..

A viscous liquid with a rancid smell fell on her face and slowly rolled down. Her body stiffened  as she felt more viscous fluid dripping onto her body.

Drip.. drip.. drip..

Liu Qinghe slowly raised her head and looked at the ceiling. The moment she looked at the ceiling, a huge mouth with sharp canines came down fast on her. Her body reacted before her brain could process what was going on.

She rolled to the left and managed to avoid the oncoming mouth. She was shocked when she saw what had attacked her. In front of her, was a sturdy mutant flower with its root stabbed on the ceiling and the petals were stuffing a woman into its mouth.

Crash crash crash..

The sound of crisp bones being chewed echoed in the warehouse. Her face turned pale, and her first reaction was to run away. Her legs were shaking as she tried to stand up. Liu Qinghe pushed herself up and ran towards the warehouse door without looking back.

Wush.. swish..!

But before she could leave the warehouse, a thick root rushed towards her legs and wrapped it tightly. 

Bang! Her legs were pulled by tree roots and she fell to the ground. Blood seeped from her bruised forehead.

Srakk.. srakk.. Her body was slowly pulled toward the mutant flower while she tried to free her legs from the thick root.

‘No! I don’t want to die here! Someone please save me!’ 

That’s her thought when she saw the mutant flower dragging her nearer to its mouth. Her eyes widened with horror and her face ashen.

Despite her desperate attempts, the root still wrapped tightly around her leg. Before long, she was hanging upside down in front of the mutant flowers. The petals of the flower slowly approached her like a hunter teasing his prey. 

Liu Qinghe smelled the rancid odor emanating from the petals, and there was still a part of the human body left between its teeth. The mutant flower opened its petals, and its mouth swung toward her.

‘No!!’
