The officer gave them a map before telling them to go to their residence. As an ability-user, Liu Qinghe, Huo Yanxiao, and Baozi got a room with two people in each room. While Yang Liqiang and Yang Lixue were both commoners so they were given a room in the suburbs with five people in each room.

 

Yang Lixue refused to go to the suburbs, so she had a dispute with Yang Liqiang. "She can live in an apartment, why should I go to the suburbs?!"

“She is an ability-user. What are you? You should be thankful that Qinghe is willing to bring us with her. She even paid ten kilograms of rice for our residence fee. Can’t you behave? Why must you be jealous of her?” Yang Liqiang said with a perplexed look. 

 

Watching them arguing for a long time, Liu Qinghe sighed. While massaging her temples, she said, "How about we rearrange the room? Lixue, Baozi and I live in the same room, and Yanxiao and Liqiang live in the same room."

 

Yang Lixue's eyes lit up and she sneered in her heart. ‘See, in the end I got what I wanted and that bitch still needs to give in to me.’ 

 

But before she could say anything, Yang Liqiang said, "No, it's not necessary. You've already helped us a lot."

 

"Brother?! Are you a fool?! Why did you refuse?!" Yang Lixue shouted in disbelief.

"Enough." Huo Yanxiao said with a dark face.

 

In the end, Baozi, Liu Qinghe, and Huo Yanxiao lived together and Yang siblings lived in the same room. After solving the housing problem, they walked towards their own.

 

Their room was located in the B sector. It was an apartment block before the apocalypse. So in one sector, there are a few apartments with thirty floors in each building. Their room was on the third floor. It could be said to be a good location. Since there was limited electricity, the elevator was not working so they needed to climb the stairs.

 

Liu Qinghe stood in front of their room and said towards Yang Liqiang, "Come over to eat after taking a shower."

 

Yang Liqiang nodded and went to their rooms. Liu Qinghe took Baozi's hand and walked into their room, while Huo Yanxiao went to collect information. The room is a small apartment of sixty square meters. It has two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen connected to the dining room and a small living room.

 

Closing the door, she walked over to the sofa and sat down. She put her arms around Baozi's small shoulders and said, "Baozi, do you believe me?" Baozi nodded when he heard her question.

 

"Then I'll take you to my space. Do you want to go there?" She asked again.

 

He looked at her with confusion but nodded in the end. She smiled before taking him to her space. Inside her space, Baozi looked at his surroundings with his mouth wide. Looking at Liu Qinghe, a trace of admiration flashed in his eyes.

 

"Come on, let me introduce you to a few people." She said, taking his hand and walking towards the house.

 

Inside the house, she saw that Chen Jihuan was cutting an apple while talking to Chen Jizheng. Walking to them, she sat next to Chen Jihuan and said, "You finally woke up. How are you feeling?"

 

“This..” Chen Lizheng was stunned when he saw her.

 

“Brother, this is sister Liu. This is her space and she is our family benefactor.” Chen Jihuan said.

 

"I see. Thanks for your help. I feel better now.” He said while scratching his head shyly.

 

“Glad to hear that. By the way, where are your parents and your brother?” She asked.

“My parents went to tend the farms and orchards while big brothers went to tend the animals.” Chen Jihuan said.

 

Nodding her head, Liu Qinghe said with a smile, “This is Baozi. He will live here with you for a while. Please take care of him for me.”

 

“Sure! Hello, Baozi. From now on, we will live together. You can call me Sister Huan." Chen Jihuan said while waving.

 

“He can't speak yet, but he can understand words and can read a little. Baozi, be good here. I will come and see you when I have free time, alright?” Liu Qinghe said while patting his head.

 

Baozi pouted but still nodded. He will be obedient and listen to whatever she says. So, she won’t abandon him like how his parents did. Not noticing his insecurities, Liu Qinghe patted his head and left the space.

 

Appearing in her room, she went to wash up and prepare dinner. Even though the water is not much, every room was given a barrel of clean water everyday. There were a lot of water ability-users in this base, so it could sustain the needs of water. 

 

When the sky darkened, the Yang siblings and Huo Yanxiao came to her room. Seeing that Baozi was not in the room, Huo Yanxiao walked to the kitchen and helped her wash vegetables. "Did you bring Baozi in?" He asked.

 

“En. The temperature inside is better than here. It’s hard for a child to live in this extreme weather.” She said as she cooked.

 

"Then there are only two of us." He said lightly.

 

“Huh?” She asked when she couldn’t hear him clearly.

 

“It’s nothing”  Huo Yanxiao said with his lips curled up and he went to the dining room while bringing the dishes.

 

After finishing their dinner, the Yang siblings went back to their room. Sitting on the couch, Liu Qinghe took out the zombie’s nuclei from her space and said, “Yanxiao, we have thirty five pieces of level one zombie nucleus and one piece of level two zombie nucleus. After our last battle, I noticed that if we want to survive, we need to upgrade our abilities. So, take this and try to advance.”

 

Looking at twenty pieces of level one zombie nucleus in front of him, he said, “This is too much. Just give me ten.”

 

“No. You need to get stronger for me to survive too. You know I only have space and healing power, so you are the only one who could fight. Take it. I will depend on your protection in the future” She said with a smile.

 

“Alright.” He said while taking the zombie nucleus. 

 

That night, Liu Qinghe and Huo Yanxiao kept absorbing the zombie nucleus without stopping. When the day started to light up, a vortex formed around Huo Yanxiao.

 

Boom!

 

After using up all of the zombie nucleus, Huo Yanxiao managed to advance by two levels. He is now a third-level ability-users. Opening his eyes, he could feel the smooth flow of energy in his body and his body became lighter. Clenching his hands, a faint golden light emanated from it. His lips curled up when he confirmed his guess. This is indeed a delightful surprise! He managed to acquire a new ability.

 

In another room, Liu Qinghe was still absorbing the last zombie nucleus. She gave twenty pieces of zombie nucleus to Huo Yanxiao, five pieces to Baozi, and ten for herself. She was absorbing the zombie nucleus all night, but the progress was so slow. It takes her almost an hour to consume one piece of the zombie nucleus. 

 

The most depressing thing is, she couldn’t notice any change at all! Is something wrong with her ability? She still couldn’t advance yet.

 

She didn't know that her absorption progress was slow because she could absorb 100% of the energy into the zombie core. For others, if they can absorb 85% of the energy, they are considered rare talents. Not to mention, her space, or more accurately, the lake within her space has changed. As the core energy of her space, the lake is the one sustaining her space.
