WTD – Tiny little easter egg

    After he said those things, Chu Chuan didn’t hesitate to leave at all, eating, sleeping, and drinking well for the next few days. Everything seemed to be normal. 

    It was only on the fourth day did Chu Chuan finally notice that Jiang Yi hadn’t appeared in front of him for three whole days. He subconsciously thought of the last time he had seen him, yet noticed that those misty eyes of his had never left his brain. 

    It was only when he was in Higher Mathematics class and he was called up by the old professor that liked him, but Chu Chuan could only stare blankly at the blackboard did he realise that he could no longer pretend that Jiang Yi’s disappearance didn’t bother him.

    It was exactly the opposite— he cared very much. Cared so much that he didn’t feel like playing games, that he would space out in the old professor’s class.

    To the point that he would squat on the balcony and smoke. 

    Zhong Yu hung the cigarette between his teeth and patted him on the shoulder, “Didn’t you quit? Why are you hiding and smoking here?” 

    Chu Chuan snapped back to his senses. 

    What is he doing? He didn’t know. 

    Zhong Yu asked again, “Heartbroken?” 

    Chu Chuan’s pupil shrank. 

    “If you lost them then find a way and chase them back! What’s the point of smoking here?” Zhong Yi shook his head and laughed, “I really don’t know anyone who can make you heartbroken.” 

    He didn’t know which sentence Zhong Yu said had gotten to him, but he got up and threw away the cigarette in his hand, looking at Zhong Yu, “Thanks.” 

    The next day was a weekend. Chu Chuan changed his clothes and shaved, sending Jiang Yi a message. But even after waiting a long time, the other still didn’t reply to him.

    Chu Chuan grabbed his key and prepared to leave, walking towards Jiang Yi’s building. 

    The one opening the door was Evan, he held the door frame, yawning as he spoke, “Looking for Jiang? He went back.” 

    Chu Chuan froze, “Back where?” 

    “America. You didn’t know?”

    “America?” Chu Chuan stared at Evan, voice cold as ice, “When?” 

    Evan glanced at his phone, “Just now in the afternoon, his flight is in 40 minutes. He told the school in advance. Who knows what happened to Jiang, going back so suddenly…”

    Chu Chuan didn’t listen to him speak any longer, rushing away as fast as he could. 

    He took a taxi to the airport, people dragging luggages walking by him, the speaker announcing flight information one after another. Chu Chuan furrowed his brow, holding his phone as he stood in the hall, anxiety rising up in his heart. 

    He suddenly regretted saying those things to Jiang Yi, but time didn’t give him the chance. 

    Chu Chuan searched for Jiang Yi near the boarding gate as if possessed, but though all the passerbys had different faces, none of them wore the face he wanted to see the most. Until he heard Jiang Yi’s flight was no longer boarding.

    Chu Chuan’s heart had sunk down the abyss, only realising his back had been soaked with sweat after returning to his sense. He released a breath, yet found out that his chest felt like it was missing a large piece. Regret surged into him like a giant wave of water, over his heart, over his head, making it hard to breathe. 

    At this time, the thought of flying the next flight to America to find Jiang Yi crossed his mind. To have Jiang Yi go back to America and never come back… He couldn’t stand it. 

    Chu Chuan took out his wallet with furrowed brows, but he couldn’t pull open the zip to the wallet no matter how much he tried. He cursed under his breath, realising a breath too late that… his hand was shaking. 

    Chu Chuan’s hands froze. Closing his eyes again and breathing out slowly. 

    Though he stopped opening his wallet shortly after. 

    The man paused. 

    Right…

    He had bought a new laptop yesterday so now—

    He had no more money.
