Chapter 37: 29

   Beijing time, 12 in the afternoon. The sun was bright as ever, lightening the room up. Jiang Yi, who had just been insulted by his lover, sat in front of the laptop, called out, “Dad.” 

    Father Jiang sighed, “When did you come back, Jiang Yi ah? Why did you keep it from dad?” 

    “…Aren’t I scared you’ll chase me back to America?” 

    “Your father isn’t such an unreasonable person, ok? Jiang Yi ah, why does your new boyfriend look like—” 

    “What boyfriend, I haven’t got him yet.” Jiang Yi sighed again, cutting him, “Plus, what’s that about the ‘new boyfriend’? Where did the old one come from? Although I came out of the closet, I never brought any boyfriend home.” 

    Father Jiang giggled, “You thought you hid it well in your high school period but your father knew everything. Isn’t it because Chu Chuan from the class next to you had good results and every time your head of class would praise at least once during parent-teacher meetings that you suddenly decided to study hard?” 

    “……”

    “…So you knew all this time.” 

    “I wanted to say just now. Doesn’t your new boyfriend look like the handsome Chu Chuan?” 

    “……” 

    What the hell?

    Jiang Yi couldn’t be bothered to explain it to his dad and cut the call, taking off his shoes and falling onto the bed, burying his entire face into the pillow. 

    A few seconds later, he finally couldn’t hold his breath anymore and looked up, flipping to the other side of the bed, spreading himself out and gulping down large portions of air. 

    Until he had spit out all the sadness he had from Chu Chuan’s insult. 

    He won’t give up.

    If the Chu Chuan from 10 years later found out he gave up so easily, he’d probably laugh till the ends of the Earth.     Students of A University would post pictures of Chu Chuan washing Jiang Yi’s clothes on BBS— all of which trended for days upon days. To the point of spreading to the school opposite them. When Chu Jia Ri heard of this, he spammed Chu Chuan nonstop, asking for an explanation. (t/n: pretty sure BBS is a platform, not too sure tho)

    Chu Chuan answered with a simple few words, “Request from orientation night.” 

    But Chu Jia Ri wasn’t satisfied with that. He got their class timetable from Su Hang and ran over during Chu Chuan’s Computer Science class to find him. He had coincidentally met Chang Xi making plans with Chu Chuan to hike and cut in forcefully, “Chuan ge, let me go too.” 

    Chu Chuan’s voice was cold, “Chu Jia Ri, what are you doing?”

    Chu Jia Ri didn’t answer him, only repeating, “I want to go.” 

    Chu Chuan kept silent. 

    Seeing the temperature dropping, Chang Xi picked at her bangs and said, “Little Chu wants to go too? Sure! We’re gathering at school on the weekend and taking the bus there. Just don’t be late.” 

    The colour on Chu Jia Ri’s face returned, even revealing a tiny smile. He reached out and grabbed Chu Chuan’s wrist, acting cute, “Chuan ge, we have no afternoon classes today.” 

    Chu Chuan smoothly avoided his hand and continued warning him, “I’m just warning you. It’s fine if you go, but don’t you dare pull anything or I’ll throw you in the mountains and you can come back yourself.” 

    Chang Xi watched by the side quietly and thought, Isn’t Little Chu a bit too sticky with Chu Chuan? 

    But the vibrating in her pocket quickly dispersed her attention. Chang Xi opened Wechat and found Jiang Yi’s chat, under her message was Jiang Yi’s response, “This Saturday? I’m free, just give me the time and place.” 

    Chang Xi smiled. 

    She liked Chu Chuan, but she liked Jiang Yi too. Since she couldn’t get Chu Chuan, what’s so bad about helping Jiang Yi?
