A bright light blinded ‘Ah!’ and fell asleep.
“Where am I?” He opened his eyes, finding himself on a beach.
He looked around, puzzled by what he knew he expected to be in a dreamlike state.
“Do you like this place?” A distant yet similar voice to his poke. He turned around to see himself.
It didn’t take a genius to realize who this other him was, “you’re the original me right.”
“Mn and you’re me from the earth, weird to call you planet dirt but I don’t care,” His other said with a small smile some questions arose in Moby’s mind but his other spoke answering his doubts, “first this isn’t some battle to gain control, this is how you’ll get your magic or my magic. I don’t understand this situation either.”
“I’m just a lingering thought. I think after this I’ll be free from this life and sleep. You’re doing a good job,” the other commended him with a smile.
“So after this...”
“Yep, I’ll be gone for good. We’ll be merged 100% and I can escape my shit life and sleep,” he said with more enthusiasm than expected about being embraced, but Moby felt his every moment of life and honestly felt happy for him.
The other sat down on the sand, patting the space next to him. Moby sat down as well.
“Do you know how this works?”
“Nope, I just woke up here. All I know is I get to finally rest in peace, but this isn’t about me, well, not entirely. It’s about you. Who are you?”
Moby raised a brow at the question, ‘I thought you knew?’ “Well, I’m from-“
“You misunderstood the question of who you are as a person. I’ve been part of you for long enough and what I’ve seen about your choices and actions sometimes go against what you’ve said, and I know I did not influence you because I hate adventurers for all they stand for. So who are you?”
Moby stayed silent, contemplating everything his other said. He often asked questions like these himself, always going deep into the meaning of life, his existence, and so on.
“Hm... who am I? I’m not sure, you’re right though I’ve said I don’t want to be a hero but.”
“You went above and beyond to stop Freya from releasing the monsters and almost died.”
“Yes...”
“There were so many options to choose from, but you went for that path without hesitation. In the first moments in my world, you’ve said you’re not ok with Bell’s choices and will have to babysit him and Hestia if you wanted to avoid that then you should’ve joined another familia. You intentionally put yourself out there, but it seemed fate also wants that as it thrust Bell into your life. So why?”
His other self looked deeper into Moby’s face, waiting for an answer.
“Fuah damn, this is hard! You are not making it easy, I tell you,” Moby groaned and fell back on the sand, staring at the blue sky.
“Who doesn’t want to be a hero to save the day and get girls? Honestly, I love and hate heroes. They can do so much, but are often so stupid and reckless, and I’m no different.”
“I could’ve died right there and then if it wasn’t for Freya wanting to make a plaything out of me. I don’t want to be a hero, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be heroic sometimes. There’s nothing wrong with being a good person, but I’m not a fool.”
“I want to be free, free to love, fight, be heroic and be recognized but I’ll have to put myself in stupid dangerous situations I’m not a fool, I know when not to let my ego take over and step back when challenges are beyond me.”
“I know I’m contradictory, but who isn’t? They’ll be times when I change my mind and actions, but that’s not bad. I’m still finding myself.”
“True, you seem grounded in the reality. I guess I should ask you about relationships and what kind of element you see yourself as, but let’s focus on what you need.”
“Huh, for love life, I’m not complicated. I’m weak to redheads and any person I have a genuine attraction I’ll take my chances with.”
“Like Ryuu?” He asked and Moby shrugged, “I guess, but we have talked little, so I’m not a hundred per cent invested.”
“Alright then, let’s speed this up. Now is the chance to learn magic, so what is magic to you?”
“Magic it’s...” he took a moment. Sitting up, he glanced at the waves. This is a hard thought because his next words would relate to his magic.

“Take your time man,” his other said, looking at the ocean.
“You’ve seen my memories, right?” Moby asked his other who nodded, “Your magic is amazing. It’s like a wave honestly, an unstoppable force. It’s practically a law, something that can’t be ignored. It swallows everything, taking whatever it wants similar yet different to alchemy.”
He spoke, drawing inspiration from the small waves on the shore that dragged small bits of sand back with them to the sea.
“Honestly, I got ranged combat down with my alchemy. Even come close combat ones, it’s just I can’t take damage and dodge.”
“I think you’ll be fine in combat, well having to talk to you was nice. I think you’ll be fine in this world. Honestly, I have nothing o tell you. I have no dreams or aspirations. I can’t remember my own life. All my memories are blurry and the only simple thing I can remember is bubbles and green water.”
The other him shrugged and exhaled as he slowly turned to light particles, “I don’t care about my past now that I can rest, knowing that you will be fine.”
He smiled as the light particles were entering himself. “I feel at peace? Yeah, that’s right. Good luck with everything. Oh, and now that you’ve unlocked this mind, start meditating and good luck on your adventure.”
Those were the last words of his other self as the light particles entered his body, leaving him alone on the beach, but despite that, he didn’t feel sad for his other or alone. He felt whole.
“So, how do I get out of here?”
“Gasp!” His eyes snapped open. He gasped for air. “Huff! that’s one way to wake up.”
He yawned and sneezed, he stepped out of bed, “oh everyone up already? Must’ve slept in.”
Moby showered and went downstairs, seeing Hestia and Bell sitting in the lounge. “Moby! You won’t believe it. I’ve got a magic skill! We need to go to the dungeon now!”
“I can’t believe you found two grimoires. Where did you get them?” Hestia asked. She didn’t seem upset, but more worried. “Those cost a lot of money.”
“It was a gift... I’ll tell you more about that later, but can you check my status? I wanna see what magic I got too,” he grinned, excitement bubbling in his face, ‘I hope it’s awesome. I hope it’s a stand!’
‘I can’t, even...’ she sighed and got up, “alright come sit.”
“My magic seems so strong. It’s a no-chant. magic. It’s called firebolt!”
“No! Not in the church!” She screamed, shutting his mouth with her hands, “sigh honestly.”
Moby chuckled and took off his shirt. Turning around, he felt her place a sheet of paper and do her thing. “I’ll also update your Falna since your mind stat will be unlocked.”
