(The life of others is the source of my livelihood.)

(For some time now, I have lived my life with such a thought in my mind)

(The only life that matters is my own.)

(Other people's lives are there to sustain my own.)

(I don't kill for no good reason.)

(It is not because of some trivial sense of philanthropy.)

(In the first place, I don't understand the point of showing mercy to other people.)

(The word " wasteful killing" means exactly what it means.)

(If it is profitable, I am willing to do it.)

Profitable means that it is worth money.

(There are two kinds of life in the world.)

(those that can be taken for money, and those that cannot be taken for money.)

( It doesn't matter if it is a woman or a child. If there is no money to be gained, I am not interested at all.)

(This is what every mercenary thinks of as a matter of course.)

Gizarte, a mercenary who was once known as "Silver Skull" in the north, thinks this way.

The Fresh Blood Mercenaries led by Gizarte suffered a heavy defeat in a battle half a year ago and was completely destroyed.

Originally, it was a weak mercenary group that could not constitute a front by itself.

If they were on the wrong side, they could have been destroyed at any moment, but Gizarte had ridden on the back of a horse without making any mistakes.

But on that day, Gizarte made his first wrong decision.

He never thought that one of the Fire Dragon Mercenaries, which boasts the largest military force among the numerous mercenary groups in the North, would collapse so easily.

For the Fire Dragon Mercenaries, the loss of the battle may have only been a slight loss of troops, but because of this, the Fresh Blood Mercenaries, which had to face the enemy's attack head-on, suffered irreversible damage.

The Fresh Blood Mercenaries were even more infamous among mercenary groups that were originally not good-behaved. The survivors of the mercenaries were unable to join other mercenary groups because of the grudges they had earned, and they gave up living in the north, putting their lives in danger.

Gizarte and his men were thinking of becoming field thieves in the middle plains, when an unexpected request came their way.

A nobleman from Garai, a major nation in the south, asked them to help him deal with a rival nobleman. Compared to the work on the battlefield in the north, it was an easy job, but the reward was unbelievable.

Gizarte took the surviving members of the Fresh Blood Mercenaries, who had been disguised as ordinary travelers, and headed south into the kingdom of Garai.

Leaving a detached force of five in the royal capital of Galuentor, Gizarte led the remaining seven into Miletus.

According to the information provided by the two guards, the "winter residence," the objective of the mission, had such a weak security system that they could break in and capture the daughter's head at any time if they were given the order to do so.

Still, at the request of his employer to wait until his opponent's guard was down, Ghisarte complied, even though he thought it was the talk of an unknowing amateur with no understanding of the nuances of combat.

Even in the north, it was an everyday routine to be subjected to stupid orders, and it was one of the mercenary captains' skills how to protect themselves while pretending to take them seriously.

They were going to do what they had been order , while appropriately trying to save face with the other side.

 Today, however, things changed.

After the report of two strange children entering the house, the atmosphere of the house changed completely.

The garden was illuminated by twinkling lamps, and the men on guard duty were busily at work.

Ghisarte saw this from the trees that overlooked the house, and immediately knew what was going on.

"They' re going to fight a siege."

The former ace of the Fresh Blood Mercenaries, "Blood Axe" Deran, who was standing next to Gizarte, turned to look at him.

"A siege?"

"Yes."

It reminds him of the fort attack in the north.

It's tough to attack a fort with this many people.

"It's been a little too much since those kids showed up. What the hell are they doing?"

"I don't know, but I'm sure we're missing our chance."

Gizarte looked at the winter residence, which was illuminated by a light shining outward.

I”t would have been a piece of cake yesterday," Delan said disgustedly.

Delan punched a nearby tree in disgust. The two axes on his back made a dull metallic clang as he did so.

....." tonight."

 Gizarte muttered.

"Tomorrow it will be too late. Tonight we can make it just in time."

"The order from the other side was the day after tomorrow, wasn't it? You can't just go ahead and do whatever you want."

He answered Deran's words with a puff of spit.

"I'm going to wait until the day after tomorrow to behave. You'll be hanged by the guards when they attack you in the night."

"This siege posture means that the other side has figured out our plan of attack."

"If we take it easy, the government officials will reach out to us."

Gizarte and his men are dealing with a noble family with such power.

"It would be best now to strike while they are still not ready."

Fortunately, the number of people in the house has not been increased.

Only two kids have been added.

Most of the men who looked like they could fight were mere amateurs.

"Delan, gather everyone. Let's go into action .”

Delan smiled.

"You sound like you're still the leader of the mercenaries group .:

"The Fresh Blood Mercenaries are long gone," he continued. Gizarte looks at Delan and smiles thinly.

"If we make enough money in the south, we can go back to the north and start our own mercenary group."

At these words, Deran's face contorted and he spat.

"I'm sorry, man, I'm not going back to that hellhole”

“Well, it's true, there's not much demand for us in the south, right?”

"Yeah, there's no demand. . And there's ......."

 Gizarte nodded and continued.

"If you work here long enough, you'll soon be a wanted man."

 This is not the North.

The free and cruel northern winds do not blow here. Only the warm south wind.

"So we must never let go of this golden hanger. We must make sure he gets a good promotion and pays us enough every month to feed us."

“If he don't, we'll threaten to expose him as the mastermind behind all this."

"Here we go, Gizarte's signature move."

 Delan smiled .

"I've got no more regrets about that shithole."

 Gizarte said roughly on purpose.

". Then we'll just have to survive here."

:Go get to work guys."

At Gizarte's words, Delan finally turned on his heel, saying, "Hey, hey, hey," as if it were a hassle.

Even after Delan's footsteps moved away, Gizarte kept his eyes on the "winter house" with a grim expression on his face.
